  1.

And anyone who cannot see that comic readership has shrunk over the years is deluding themselves, TPBs or no TPBs. When I was a kid, comics were not popular, but it was easy to find other kids that read comics. But then, comics were accessible (both in content, price, and physical location in stores.) Today, not so much. There are too many other ways for people to spend their money on entertainment they enjoy. Comic book movies? Absolutely. Comic books? No way.

I agree. When I was a kid back in the early 90s comics were generally for kids, both in term of contents and prices. Now not so much. Now both contents and prices are geared toward adults who have discretionary income. These days there aren't many kids who can afford to follow comic titles like 20 years ago. It is only natural that there aren't as many comics readers today as there were 20 years ago.

  2. Are the 3 horsemen unstoppable....if so might start to get boring watching them kill everyone they encounter every month....wonder if the 4th builds a counter force to stop them.

I think they can be killed. Wasn't that why 3 of them got reborn as kids?

  3. Ok, but look at the current demand for these books. How many of the current trend are selling out at the publisher? Then look at how many were possibly pulped for damage. Destroyed by general readers. If books like this one and Saga get such great reviews and fan responses now, that would lead one to think the desire for future collectors would be even greater. But that's the speculation game in a nutshell.

But unless these indie comic book series make a splash in popular culture like the Walking Dead, they are going to be forgotten in 15 years. Most people have never even heard of Saga or East of West outside of the comic book collecting community. Superheroes will still be popular and always have fans.

I agree, and even though I collect Image titles, in the long run I see pretty much all of them having problem staying relevant. If you think about Marvel, DC, and to some extent Valiant comics, most if not all of their titles involve characters that not only show up in their own title(s) but other characters title also. There is a connection among the characters, a sense of community, so even if one of the title end you know that the characters of that title can show up somewhere down the road instead of being completely gone. Image titles and characters? Not so much. As a comic reader I don't mind each title has no connection with one another as long as the stories are good, but as a collector I would be weary of keeping most of these Image books for the long run.

  4. Check the slabbed copies notation of Amazing Spider-man 698. That's the 1st appearance right there.

ASM 698 is the 1st appearance of Superior Spidey. (thumbs u

The above slab doesn't note that though. It just says he assumes his body. It does not say it is the first appearance of Superior though.

Wouldn't it be 700 when he actually calls himself Superior? Or was that in Avenging 16?

Avenging 15.1 you mean? Because I think that's the one where he build his new suit and called himself Superior Spider-Man.

  5. And the normal Image copies are selling well.

    Plus the NYCC.

Things are moving for sure - sold 5 this week.

    Slow and steady.

I been buying NYCC cover. Got a 9.8 CGC from a boardie, a 9.6-9.8 raw from ebay, and is waiting for a NYCC sketch from ebay to come in. I think I am up to like 6 or 7 total on #1 now, and I am not even speculating on this one. If it will eventually get hot then I might sell 1 or 2 to get some money back. If not then I will enjoy keeping them. :)

  6. Personally I hate when covers have a bunch of text and other nonsense on them, Its just distracting. Really don't care to have what is essentially advertising on the cover of a piece of written and drawn work. Someone at DC really needs to get slapped for plastering that Arrow tv show ad on all their books.

As for Sex, I wouldn't suggest dumping what you have. I would sell what you need to in order to get back your initial investment and hold the rest.

I agree about having the ads on the comic covers. Both DC and Marvel do it, and it make the covers look awful.

Nice raw sale. Look like this series is getting ready for liftoff, as it should.

I won that lot. lol, so don't poke fun at me!! I want some cherry copies of this series, and this just arrived today :)

What happened to this sale? Look like the seller re-listed it for some reason?

It looks like another full run they are selling, first listing had the #1 as a possible 9.8, the second lists the #1 as a 9.4.

I never do re-list when selling the same thing so didn't think that was the case. Hopefully that's what happen and not something happened to the sale. Would hate to see a good sale voided.

  8. Had this come in today.

Man I remember trying to find a 9.8 raw for that issue when it first came out. I think it took me 4 tries to find one that I thought could be 9.8. I hate buying comics that are already bagged sometime. You can look as close as you want to but can still miss things until you get home and open it up.

where did you go? i bought around 10 when they came out and all 10 came back 9.8's. i bought 5 at teabag comics and another 5 at oxford i think

Teabag, Titans(Smyrna), and Dr No I believe. Both Teabag and Titans have the comics in bag already so I couldn't see everything. I think I was finally able to get one at Dr No cause they don't bag the new comics.

Awesome! We are not making fun of you. We are just excited to see the series is picking up in readerships and sales. Most of us here believe in this series from the start so it is nice to see it turns into what we thought it could be. :)

  11. You guys seen #3 2nd print cover? Look pretty good.

It's awesome. Look at some of the modern sales threads for a pic.

Yeah I saw the cover at my LCS and thought it looks pretty spiffy.

  12. I gave up on the series after #1 due to the excessive use of vulgar language, but I liked the variant blue pony cover so much that I would get it if I see it at my LCS. Now that I checked back I do end up with all 1-4. That's a "Happy" surprise. :)

  13. I'm with you Andy on being patient. Saga was a $10 comic for many months and then BAM.

Yeah I was one of those unfortunate saps that didn't get into Saga until issue #2 then keep doing the monthly pull without getting around to purchase #1. I kept passing on it when it was just around $20(raw). Next thing I know it jump up to around $80. Ah well, at least I finally bite the bullet and got one for around $80 so now I have a full run.

  14. I will admit that I was a bit turnoff with #1 issue with happened to the little girl, and I was just about to give up on the series altogether, but with each passing issue I no longer see the main character as that psychopath in issue #1. I see him as someone who is a genius yet has a childlike or quirky way of going about things. Like he is not in control of his thinking/action, and like someone said that is a bit different than the norm where pretty much every other book character is in control of what they are doing.
