  1. Yay, I get to be part of another club. Just picked this one up off another board member (menator) and can't wait till it arrives.
  2. Just wanted to post this here cause this is my GRAIL club - I shall have membership one day!!! For anyone that has a copy for sale, let me know as I will trade a good chunk of other keys for it as well as line your pockets with cash! Link below goes to my WTB post with a list of issues I can trade towards it. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=60&Number=6909310&Searchpage=1&Main=306934&Words=&topic=0&Search=true
  3. Hi, Just quick question but do you have an email we can direct updates for label information? I have an issue I wish to submit (Journey into Fear #1, superior comics, 1951) but all the CGC labels I see do not have artist information though it is known that artist Matt Baker did the interiors for 2 of the stories within (based on HA.com auctions this is known, and from http://www.comics.org/issue/64882/) He was a big name for that era and issues are often collected for his art alone so it would be a good idea to apply credit where credit is due. Thanks
  4. Was looking around for some EC reprints to have as readers, and then came across this lot which I bought (note: Much cheaper then what the price tags show, $50 total for the three). Love me that WEIRD SCIENCE #15 cover which was the main reason for the purchase - but getting something like Journey info Fear #1 is a very sweet bonus! Does anyone have any information on the rarity of this JoF canadian edition? Edit: AH! Found out there isn't technically a 'canadian edition' for this comic, rather it was PRINTED in Canada but for the US market. So any Canadian/US release of this issue would be the exact same comic.
  5. Exactly my thinking. I was aware of the publishing offset time but to have it written makes it feel like your actual birthday comic. Think of it as a birthday present that was mailed to you by a family member ahead of time in order to reach you on your birthday but might have been delayed in transit
  6. That's a great issue to have regardless of birthday! (Though admittedly I don't own an original copy of 141 yet. I bring great shame to my dynasty! I must fix this at once!)
  7. While I have been collecting for most of my life it was only about 2 years ago that I actually got ahold (CGC 7.5 red label for $20) of Uncanny X-Men #142 - a favourite cover / story of mine (from alternate reprints and TPB) and realized it was published in the same month/year of my birthday! I think everyone has such an issue - out of all the comics that were published in your birthday month/year which do you relate to the most and think represents you and your collection the best? and do you OWN a copy of it? I'm not sure if this sort of thing has ever been done/posted but kinda interesting to me. Like I mentioned above, here is my birthday issue: February 1981! You can easily find out yours by checking this page out. Comic books by month/year
  8. I am jealous of everyone in this club, I hope to have a copy of this 1st print one day (On that note if anyone is looking to sell one, preferably less than 8.0 let me know! Think i'll need to trade lots of my keys to get one, got a Showcase 22 and other goodies)
  9. Excellent choice. I'm guessing one reason it may have been overlooked, is that some of us like to to imagine that the the gears and bolts aren't there when we look at the cover. wow! I actually never noticed that until now (have never seen this issue in person or close up). nice! So with that cover in mind, here's a favourite of mine from my childhood.
  10. Not 100% my art, I only assisted with colouring on this issue (and overall layout, editing, ripping apart of -script and pacing etc...). Here is a taste of it (didn't want to post the entire massive cover) First issue preview is online at my site here: http://darkbladestudios.com I'll be talking with my co-creator about giving away a low-res digital copy of the comic to all you awesome board members, but figured in the mean time I might as well post it.
  11. Excellent and accurate seller! Much kudos indeed! Thank you so much for the epic CGC 8.0 Giant-Size X-men #1 !
  12. Thank you to all who have bought comics from me - I'm glad they have found good homes with great collectors who can appreciate them!
  13. Nice! Very good looking set. Finding them with the white areas still bright and clean is a bit of a pain. I have a copy of #24 on it's way over to CGC now
  14. I can't wait to hunt down all those great Wolverton issues, such amazing stuff! As for my recent splurge: An lower grade copy of The Thing #15 which I plan to do some minor dry cleaning on to remove the writing and soiling. To be conservative I put it at around a 3.0 and another gem that i've always loved for the classic cover, Chamber of Chills #23. This copy looks amazing in hand and I could not believe it was a 4.5 when comparing to a few other 5.5 and 6.0's I had on hand.
  15. Just re-bought a Super Nintendo as the only system I had in my new place was my Atari Lynx collection (pretty much every rare game including Alien vs Predator). I ended up giving away my Atari Jaguar and Dreamcast to some friends so had to fill the void with some other retro goodness.
  16. Just made my first purchase from HA.com - been lurking on there for so long but finally one of my favourite comic covers came up and I took the bidding plunge. I'm a sucker for any sci-fi head replacement covers (this and #156 are glorious!) and this one is a beauty!
  17. I'm debating getting my copy slabbed purely for ensuring the condition remains consistent. Only around a 3.0-4.0 and it's the UK pence variant so still on the fence about it.
  18. And I have 3 nice copies of the Cyberrad #1 newsstand edition and also a nice copy of the #5. They are very tough to find. I had to get the Cyberrad #1 newsstand edition from Neal's son Jason. Although I've seen quite a few Gold foil Valeria listed online, I got that from Jason also. If anyone has a red foil Megalith #0 or a Gold Foil Vol. 2 Cyberrad #1 without hologram, I'd love to see a scan. They were solicited by nealadams.com at one point, but no scans have surfaced online. Jason could not confirm they existed. They may have been listed in error. DG Would you, or anyone else, know of the print runs for each issue in CyberRad vol 1? Also, has anyone ever seen the TPB for sale? I can't find much on it and it's pretty much a grail by default since i've wanted a collected edition since I was a kid.
  19. A single issue: Iron Man #232 Very dark and a great look into the ways the psychological stress of superhero can manifest in a nightmarish dreamscape. Also the cover is pretty rad
  20. Good point on the re-sale. I only mention the resto as I am learning it now and maybe, MAYBE many years down the road when I am proficient in it, I might consider doing the tape removal (it's all along the spine and back cover) and minor dry cleaning myself (when looking at the whites you can see it's just dirty - not stained or written on).
  21. That is an amazing SS collection for that issue. Well deserved! It would be hard to follow that up.....so i'll just post mine and lower the standards. To be fair I bought this for $100 about a decade ago and got it slabbed to prevent any more damage to the covers brittle edges (otherwise, I think it displays rather well)
  22. Might as well throw mine in the ring, though i'm sure it will only get me a worn out and hagard looking membership card On the day i've gotten actually good at removing tape and doing minor dry-cleaning this will be the first major comic in my collection I crack open and try to sprice up.
