  1. And for my page I paid a whopping 0.02 % of the Secret Wars page !!! Jokes aside , this is a great opportunity to be reminded that you can get great looking art without mortgaging your home! By all means let’s keep it up!
  2. Is there going to be a new art drop today like was the case in the previous editions?
  3. As the owner of not one but two APs by Dauterman I am officially disappointed by this result . Granted this is not the best of his recent covers but I would have expected a price closer to the initial price . This auction result is not consistent with the speed at which the AP are being sold by the reps of artists such as Dauterman himself or Larraz. Oh well …win some lose some . Maybe this result will cool down the primary market for these prints?
  4. Also no skin in the game, but to me there is no match. This cover is artistically superior to the splash (or TB cover): so much more original and representative of the Wolverine mythos …and larger image of Wolverine. That is my 2 cents
  5. That is what I got for my Dauterman AP. It is on s post-it that was attached on the back . It is a nice touch but I would have preferred the drawing done directly on the back of the board or in the front at the bottom. Would have added a bit of authenticity to the piece . I told Russell so, he said he would have obliged if he had known my preference. carlo
  6. This currently ongoing CLink auction might shed some light on the status of resale market for artists proofs. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FPREVIEW.ASP%3Fcode%3D2021sept%26itemtype%3D1%26Artist%3DRUSSELL%20DAUTERMAN%20%26searchdbf%3D0%23Item_1511055&id=1511055&itemType=1 Printed or original , I love Dauterman’s work !
  7. So at the risk of sounding naive, any chance of knowing what the price was? Ballpark?
  8. Comic Link :: The Online Vintage Comic Book and Comic Art Auction and Exchange Thanks for looking - Carlo
  9. Defintitely there were a few instances in this HA auction were prices and artistic content were decoupled to say the least. I would also mention the Liefeld New Mutants page as an example where there must have bees some sort of significance to a subset of collectors (at least two) resulting in the price. In the case of the NM page at least we have a hint at what it was (first Deadpool punch?). In this case I can't see it, even though the page itself is quite interesting and well executed. Some other prices were quite surprising, but I feel the content was quite strong (like the Byrne XM 113 page or, at a totally different price point, the Brunner Doc Strange fetching a splash price)
  10. Will the price be public? Don’t know that platform . A candidate for breaking the unspeakable mark ?
  11. At a small comic-dedicated museum in Milan they are featuring an exhibition celebrating Marvel history. In addition to variouls memorbilia, they have some nice OA loaned by Italian collectors. Here are some pics, in no particular order (even though the exhibition is ordered by decades). I have selected pieces that I had not seen before. Sorry about the quality but the light was not right for pictures. If you happen to pass by Milan you should drop by!
  12. I have not read those Thor issues by Frenz and Sinnott but I have to admit the art looks great. Are the stories any good? Any particular issues worth tracking down ? carlo
  13. Not to make you any more nervous but an envelop I sent from Italy to the US where USPS was the US provider just plain disappeared ….
  14. I have two nice early Buscema Defenders pages up on CLink's current Featured Auction: One comes from Defenders 15 and has great early Janson inks: Comic Link :: The Online Vintage Comic Book and Comic Art Auction and Exchange The other one is from the classic Sons of the Serpent storyline and has McLeod inks: Comic Link :: The Online Vintage Comic Book and Comic Art Auction and Exchange
  15. Right out of the blocks, the Wolverine vs Guardian page is number four, behind McSpidey cover and splash and the weaponised Hulk Keown cover, and tied with the J Lee PWJ cover. Is there a copper vs Bronze Age OA theme here ?
  16. Plus one. As a medium , comics are a mix of image and dialogue. While I would never buy OA “just” for the dialogue, some nice , meaningful words or thoughts balloons are definitely a plus, artistic content being equal .
  17. Better art not sure, even though on layout and design Steranko is unbeatable. Certainly more rare, and yes I agree would fetch more. Is this coming up on Heritage as well?
  18. Ok, Arthur was super fast and very kindly confirmed he inked the page. Thanks for the suggestion to contact him and congrats to those who got it right! As an afterthought, I think Adams and Golden were the two artists that were the most influential with the least amount of work that created the influence (two Annuals by Adams and a couple of issues by Golden). Any other names come to mind?
  19. Yes that might be an option. Anybody knows who reps these artists?
  20. Happy to give it a go: usd40k. If it included one killer, clear frontal Wolverine shot this could be up to 55k.
  21. A few weeks ago I posted this piece on Comicartfans: Art Adams - X-Men Annual 9 - page 8 - New Mutants - Storm, in Carlo M's Arthur Adams Comic Art Gallery Room (comicartfans.com) In the description I mention that indiciae mention Adams Gordon Mignola as inkers but I would not know which one inked this particular page and ask for opinions. None has come forward to date. Any ideas? Carlo
  22. OK - I will give it a go - in no order: 51 - This Man this Monster 58 - The dismal dregs of defeat! 72 - Where soars the Silver Surfer! 82 - Inhumans 86 - The Victims Honourable mention: 87 - Possibly the most off-beat ending of the year! (pure genius, IMHO)
  23. Surely one of the top 5 Kirby FF covers. Anybody cares to draw up a list?
