  1. I like statistics and appreciate the effort you're taking on here. Got one for you to add. Black Label 9.8 cert# 0207254002 I'll contribute some more numbers later if not already on your list. My LCS actually has 3 for sale. 2 are CGC-U 9.8 white and black and the 3rd is a raw white label with a couple of barely visible NCB spine ticks which may grade 9.4-9.6ish that he's selling for high CGC graded prices. FYI: he's selling the black for around $3200 and the white for $2800 and also believes the Black to be more rare. What I'd love to know is how many of the 18 graded 9.9 are Black Label vs White label. All of the ones I've ever seen go for sale on ebay or on any of the auction sites are White labels. Since 2011, there's been 3 9.9 certs that keep getting resold. Since there's no 10 yet, were it be that the black is more "rare" I'd imagine a 9.9 black label for sale would command the higher prices of the 2 labels.
  2. Man, we've come a long way when being double (technically, a little less) the TAT for fast track is applauded as a good thing cause CGC estimated it correct. The TAT for modern FT is supposed to be 10 biz days. Well, I suppose anymore I just take the online TAT with a huge grain of salt, if not ignore it altogether. When they asked me at the Con if I wanted to FT the books, I asked in return how long the current wait time is. The gentleman hollered over to his colleague what the eta was, and she said, "About one month right now." She knew her stuff, so I guess I'm applauding both the honesty and accuracy of the estimate. I didn't ask about this being a newb to the submission process at a con. It was towards the end of Saturday when I stumbled across their table with a box of recent purchases. I had about 70+ moderns I submitted via the modern with 9.8 pre-screen under 3 invoices. I asked what she recommended and wasn't given the option for FT. She seemed very annoyed and impatient. Had me fill out the forms confusing me about value vs Insured value. By the end of it I think I seriously undervalued the insurance for one invoice not understanding how they were broken down by comic. God I hope they don't get lost or damaged. Speaking of which, they don't really care how they handle the comics once they are in their possession. I never grab my comics by the spine and yet I saw her callously grabbing the bundles of 5-10 issues from the spine as she quickly flipped them over to be stacked and counted. she was nice enough to grab 3 spare bag and boards for 3 issues that were not bagged/boarded. I can imagine some of those 9.8's now definitely not meeting the pre-screen requirement after the handling. I couldn't recall my member number and they don't apply any coupons for comics received at cons or retroactively. I checked 2 weeks ago what the ETA for my comics and she said about 2-3 months! Yikes! Well lesson learned. Guess I'll be getting my comics back (hopefully some slabbed) in time for Christmas...
  3. I see it's restored and has some work done on it and I don't usually care for those but DAMN that is a great looking copy. Those colors are so nice. Might be making me think twice about restoration for keeper and display purposes.
  4. Has anyone PM'ed Joeypost or Wally about this if they haven't seen it either. This is misuse of their image if they are in no way a part of this sale and should contact ebay to have the image removed. This is misrepresenting their reputation and assumed endorsement of the sale/authenticity of the comic being sold. Not that it's on any of us to save the unwitting bidders but would registering a bunch of bogus unverified ebay accounts and bidding this into oblivion and then ignore/not pay do the trick in case ebay doesn't do anything to remove it or would the act of inflating the bid price make the potential fees too enticing for ebay to decided ignore the fraud.
  5. At first glance it's impressive but then you look closer and see most of them are beaters and readers with the spines almost completely obliterated. Not that he seems to care much considering how he handles them and how precariously that box was to perched near the edge of the bed. I was waiting for the whole thing to fall over. AF15 beater still looks good but after what sufunk mentioned they all just seem even more dubious. He definitely hoards 14s and 6's.
  6. Seeing this on nearly every cgc book slabbed in 2012+. Has been hurting sales at LCS and online. Looks ugly but as a collector I don't have any problem with it as long as there's no long term detriment to the book. As a seller I don't like it and if buying to sell I will look for better examples if available. Might be why many auction listings only show fc scans. As long as there are no long term effects to the book I'm ok with it as the years pass it will become commonplace. However it may spawn a new market for slabs without them kind of like the old labels.
  7. 2nd time dealing with Steve and both times were great experiences. Just got my latest purchase from him. It is a beauty! I normally don't go for Signature Series but I love the cover, it being of the highest grade, the triple sigs with good placement and the sketch by Adlard was an excellent choice so I'm beginning to make some exceptions and had to have this one. He's definitely got great taste so I'll likely be buying something from him in the future. (thumbs u Excellent packing: I know when it takes me more than 5 minutes and a box cutter to extract the slab that I won't have any worries about damage. Thanks, Dan
  8. I brought up this person earlier. He placed a deposit of $70 on about $1500 worth of books, with 3 months to pay the balance. He wasn't able to. He lost his deposit, and I resold the books. Hmm...was he by any chance pre-selling some of the books that he was supposed to be buying from you? I came across his sales thread in February interested in the ASM 5 3.0 he had. I PM'd him on 2/27 at 1:46am for a back cover scan and he responded 13 minutes later at 1:59am that he would get it to me first thing tomorrow. No update to his sale thread and no PM to me by 2am the next day so I sent him a reminder. Didn't hear from him for a full month! Last week he PM me on 3/27 at 2:24am telling me he "Finally got a pic of the back of the asm 5 posted. Let me know what you think.". What do I think!?!? It's been a month! I'd totally forgotten all about him. I actually snagged a better looking raw copy of ASM 5 during that month of no communication. What do I think? I think he'd better get a better internet connection that dials up on days other than the 27th and 28th of the month! Glad his lack of communication caused me to lose interest. sheesh. I hope you get your money back Jo Seph. That really sucks.
  9. Bought a WD high grade slab from Paul. Arrived super fast, pretty much shipped as soon as I paid. Great communication throughout the process keeping me informed every step of the way. Super secure packing job in a priority mail box. Took me 5 minutes just to unwrap the slab from the bubblewrap and tape but great job. Love the new addition to my collection. Thanks Paul! Dan
  10. Saw this thread and was shocked there was only 1 mention of the Walking Dead video game. I know it's not as hot as the comic or other games out there but I was surprised to enjoy it so much. I'm normally a FPS junkie where my primary crack is COD BO2 multiplayer and zombies as well as Halo4 but I also dabble in StarCraft strategy games. But I'm sooo addicted to this Walking Dead game I haven't touched the others in over a week. I'm only on Episode 3 mainly because I love going back and trying different decisions. I love that it is decision based but would like it more if those decisions actually resulted in drastically different outcomes. The limitation is that sometimes regardless of the decision, the character you choose to save or side with still dies which seems flaky but I love the immersion and storyline. It helps to fill in the void while waiting for the next season of the AMC TWD show to start.
