Man, we've come a long way when being double (technically, a little less) the TAT for fast track is applauded as a good thing cause CGC estimated it correct. The TAT for modern FT is supposed to be 10 biz days.
Well, I suppose anymore I just take the online TAT with a huge grain of salt, if not ignore it altogether. When they asked me at the Con if I wanted to FT the books, I asked in return how long the current wait time is. The gentleman hollered over to his colleague what the eta was, and she said, "About one month right now." She knew her stuff, so I guess I'm applauding both the honesty and accuracy of the estimate.
I didn't ask about this being a newb to the submission process at a con. It was towards the end of Saturday when I stumbled across their table with a box of recent purchases. I had about 70+ moderns I submitted via the modern with 9.8 pre-screen under 3 invoices. I asked what she recommended and wasn't given the option for FT. She seemed very annoyed and impatient. Had me fill out the forms confusing me about value vs Insured value. By the end of it I think I seriously undervalued the insurance for one invoice not understanding how they were broken down by comic. God I hope they don't get lost or damaged. Speaking of which, they don't really care how they handle the comics once they are in their possession. I never grab my comics by the spine and yet I saw her callously grabbing the bundles of 5-10 issues from the spine as she quickly flipped them over to be stacked and counted. she was nice enough to grab 3 spare bag and boards for 3 issues that were not bagged/boarded. I can imagine some of those 9.8's now definitely not meeting the pre-screen requirement after the handling. I couldn't recall my member number and they don't apply any coupons for comics received at cons or retroactively. I checked 2 weeks ago what the ETA for my comics and she said about 2-3 months! Yikes! Well lesson learned. Guess I'll be getting my comics back (hopefully some slabbed) in time for Christmas...
