  1. Captain Marvel #1 (2012 series)

    get the rarest variant :gossip:

Thankfully there's only 3 1st print covers total. Whew

I believe it was Avenging Spider-man #9 where Carol Danvers appeared first as Captain Marvel. It shares the same published date with Captain Marvel #1 (2012) series but was released first.

  2. GoTG will be hot until the movie tanks..I hope with all my heart it won't..But I just have a bad feeling about it..

Same here. Too "campy" for my taste.

Almost all the non-comicbook collectors that I know don't even know who or what a Guardians of the Galaxy is. They don't even know that it's from Marvel Comics! :tonofbricks:

  3. Have read in a different forum that below is a rare comicbook that contains an early appearance of Harley Quinn.

The indicia on the back cover is 1993 but there is no month indicated.

Any info when this thing was actually published? If it's earlier than Batman Adventures 12 then this could really be her first appearance.

  4. Now another theory...... Why do we seem to see more NB books than Goodwill ones? Maybe, just maybe because NB used the original numbering and only left the price areas blank... so many more NB survived because peeps didn't realize they were different? They flew under the "bias" radar and escaped destruction or little brothers grubby hands? The goodwill books put their own numbering on the front covers and maybe they were not as lucky escaping the bias? Less goodwills exist because more of them were sacrificed..... ummmmmmm hm

National Bookstore is the biggest and most prominent bookstore here in the Philippines. They have more funds in reprinting materials.

Goodwill Bookstore has only small stores located mostly in the malls. Not sure if they are still business right now since I cannot find their stores anymore.

As for Alemars, they are the minority here since they only have very few stores in the country. Alemars also closed shop years ago. Of the three reprints, I consider Alemar's the rarest.

  5. Hi, I live in the Philippines and want to show my copy of Superman #249. This one is a National Bookstore reprint.

I actually bought this copy accidentally since I thought it was an original. There was a store here in the Phillipines which closed a few years ago selling these reprints. I think they had a reprint also of the 1st appearance of Bullseye (Daredevil 131) in their long boxes.

If you have any you want to sell let me know. I'm pretty much always in the market for them. (thumbs u

Im curious about something Mark? If you had known it was a National Bookstore what would you have done? hm Would you have still bought it?

Also, do you think it is possible the original owner of the store could still be around with back stock? Thanks a million! (thumbs u

Sorry for the very late reply. Was busy last couple of days.

To answer your first question, I would have not bought it in the first place since I originally thought it was the real deal and not a reprint. My face was full of frustration when I got home and opened the comicbook and found out it was a reprint. I almost throwed it in a garbage can! :frustrated:

As for the shop's owner, I believe he consigned the remaining stock to another hobby shop since he cannot find anyone interested in buying them. Take note that this happened two years ago.

  7. Comics that shouldn't be heating up on Ebay:

    Spawn 9

    The Activity

I have read some bad comics in my day but The Activity?! This book is awful and I cannot believe that it's selling for this much.

I believe there is an Activity going on in the movies:

  8. ThoseBackPages had a keen enough eye to point out that issue #2 was an homage to The Walking Dead #48. Today I sent him a signed print of that cover.

The next challenge is....who can name what issue #3's cover is an homage to? Same prize for the first person to call it.

This is a tough one Ken! Any clues? Is it paying homage to another Image Comics cover? hm

This is a tough one, for sure. Clue: Issue 2's slickest element points the way.

    Some wild guesses:

  10. just found 2 annihilation conquest number 6 looks like nm.

    Trade 1?

Not my listing and it's only VF, but that's the first one I've seen listed.

Edit: Interesting to see the price.

I don't believe that this issue is their first appearance because the group has not yet named themselves as Guardians of the Galaxy.

It is only in Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 #1 that they decided to call themselves Guardians of the Galaxy. And also that group has a different cast of characters compared to the one in Annihilation Conquest.

Im pretty sure at the end of this issue they do mention them as the Guardians or mention them in the upcoming GOTG series preview. I will check and post later

I'm going to read it a little later too.

    Any news on this?

  12. You guys wanna see something really funny. I sold Peter Panzerfaust 1-4 for $25

I hate myself for not knowing about this board a few weeks ago.

    Yeah

That's nothing. Here's something that'll make you feel better.

Two years ago, I bought a NM Walking Dead 19 for 1$. Since I had no idea of the value of the comic and the entire franchise, I sold it on our local ebay forums for 4$. I was happy with the profit. A month later, I randomly decided to check the price on ebay.com.

I've been crying ever since.

Anyone care to top this tale of woe?

Aha! So you are one who was selling the WD 19 in ebay.ph a few years back! I saw that auction and was thinking to bid but I was not aware on how much will go up since the TWD show was only beginning during that time. No knowledge also that it was the 1st appearance of Michonne.

    Knowledge is indeed power.

  13. I already took a picture of issue 1 and was about to list it on ebay when I chanced upon this thread...lucky me, I found issue 2 and a 2nd printing of issue 1...

The story didn't really grab me, but there's a chance for flipping.

I believe I saw your auction in ebay.ph. An Image Lot consisting of Think Tank #1, Black Acre #1, and Nowhere Men #1. But there is a note that Nowhere Men #1 is not included. :D

    Exactly. LPC? :)

Nope. Just a guy who's looking for Nowhere Men #1 1st print. :D

I almost bought your auction due to the excitement of looking at the Nowhere Men #1 in the picture. Luckily, I read your description! Hahaha!
