  1. My favorite piece of art in my collection was on CAF as a NFS. I inquired about it and was asked to make an offer, which I did. The owner said thanks but not at this time. I inquired again sometime later and made a stronger offer but still no dice. The third time the owner told me that my new even stronger offer was very fair but if he was going to let it go it would have to be for $X. The deal was struck and the art is now framed in my office. I made sure to leave a sufficient amount of time between offers so not to harass the owner but let him know that I was very serious. All in all, the final price was a lot more than I wanted to pay but it was a page I had to have. So, the point of my post...it never hurts to ask but don't be pushy

This is my basic approach. If I have an item marked NFS, that means I'm not looking to sell it. I like it, I plan on keeping it. So if someone comes to me wanting to buy, then it's up to them to make an offer, and it would have to be a pretty good one in order to get me to budge. EVERYTHING has a price, even those pieces we never plan to sell. It's just a matter of how ridiculous the money has to get before we decide to let it go. But yes, if you're a buyer looking at a "NFS" piece, then you'd better come correct.

Couldn't agree more to this as both a owner of a NFS piece and someone who is looking to acquire a NFS piece

Now, for another question...issue covers vs [newly illustrated] collected volume covers ;)

The next generation of readers identify greater with the latter, sometimes equating that cover with the series as a whole...but it's still not an "original" cover.

I would be more interested in a collected volume cover rather than a variant cover since the chance of the collected volume cover being done by the series artist is greater.

  4. For the most part, I personally prefer to buy something by the series artist and 9 times out of 10 that doesn't include the variant cover. However, that said, I have a few variant OA covers. I bought them both for different reasons...

The first is a variant to #1 of the series and I bought it as it was by far my favorite cover and had a very cool factor. I do know that the original sale price of my variant was 50% more than the original selling price to the regular #1 cover as they were both sold by the same art dealer upon release. I am not sure if the variant's current value would be more than the regular cover to #1 but I am sure it it would be at least the same. I have been offered more than my original purchase price numerous times but declined to sell due to my love of the cover.

The second cover I purchased as there was no original art for the comic (the series artist is digital). So, this cover and only a handful of other variant covers are the ONLY original art out there.

Both pieces are by popular current artists and the images and characters depicted are of key characters so that would help the value down the road i would think.

  5. The Boys Definitive Editions Out of Print Hardcover

Just added a few of the out of print The Boys Definitive Edition hardcover collections. I had Volume 3 (which sold) but still have volume 5 and 6. Prices are currently on sale.

  6. From what I know Latour does pages as small sketches (traditional and digital) here and there and then finishes/composes the pages digitally so no real art pages exist. He also is VERY hard to get a reply out of from what I have found about buying anything even small scraps and doodles. As already mentioned, he doesn't sketch at shows and rarely does commissions.

  7. Just added a great new Alias: Jessica Jones page. This page had all the boxes checked for me. Nice big images of Jessica, great story moment and NO stats on the page (which is rare for Micheal and this series). It also had an appearance by Scott Lang in his Ant-man costume. As you can see from the image of the printed page, Ant-man's costume had to be changed at the last minute to match his new digs. Love the line "It's okay, I'm an Avengers"

I bid just to watch it, but during the course of this auction I was offered another page (dare I say "BETTER") and went with the PM page.  The page that was offered to me is the page before another that i have, so it makes it that much nicer.

    Looking forward to seeing it!

Not an 'A' in my opinion, but PREACHER 53 page 08 had a nice finish on eBay tonight at $1309 (41 bids).

It's a nice enough image of eye-patch Jesse (How do people recognize him? Wolverine puts on an eye patch and becomes a completely unrecognizable and different character. But I digress) and a great half-splash from Dillon.

But for me PREACHER is all about the Jesse/Tulip relationship (although Deputy Cindy is a much better catch. But I digress again). So, having the dialog on the page be solely about Arseface brings it down for me. If he had instead been thinking of Tulip, A+ page all the way.

Did you end up bidding and or winning it?
