Teenagers and kids aren't buying floppies. That's not their clientele. Their customers are in their twenties or older. The days of kids pawing at comics in spinner racks are long gone. It's an extremely niche audience now; the business model is likely teetering on a knife's edge. All forms of print media are absolutely brutal businesses to be in right now. They're trying to find a way to survive and raising prices apparently is one way to keep the doors open a little longer. I certainly don't envy publishers. Look at what's happening to the 'news' media companies trying to survive with clickbait 'journalism.' Things are in flux, the balls are in the air. We'll see how long they can keep juggling.

Probably a case of personal taste. Maybe the older stuff is just dated and aimed at a more youthful audience. Regardless, I generally can't read it. My eyes glaze over post-haste.

I try to read bronze/silver occasionally and, yes, there are a lot of words, but most of the words are superfluous describing something in the picture. I much prefer modern writing to bronze/silver.

It seems like the new comics have just become a pump-and-dump game like their stocks or something. I started just getting trades on the cheap a long time ago for stuff I just wanted to read and I haven't been disappointed. For all the talk of poor quality, I've found some fun stories out there, but I'd much rather spend $5-$10 on a trade rather than $30 on the individual floppies.

I recently read the first Sword of Azrael story. Just awful, awful stuff But I guess this thread isn't about the quality of the stories

OP has not been active on the boards since November, 2019. And, even if the book were still in his possession, I would highly doubt he'd sell for 25% FMV or so. But who knows? Send him a PM rather than bump a 3 year old thread.
