  1. thanks. Yes, it is nice to see the Superman and Batman 2nd print newsstands together. I should do some closeup looks at them to see if there's any clues about when they were made.
  2. I've opened quite a few 20-packs bricks and so have some friends of mine in the name of research. In general, they contain comic books with the same cover date. Every once in awhile there would be some in the pack from the prior or following month.
  3. The DC Universe variant of SM MOS 20 is among the very hardest to find... yet alone in a sealed pack. Congrats!
  4. Up until about 5 years ago Batman 457 2nd print newsstand was thought to have been a myth (some had theorized that the only known image was photo-shopped). Since then, 25+ copies of the Batman 457 2nd print have now surfaced. The prices on ebay seem to be well above $1K, and more like $2K for higher grade. The insatiable demand and prices are very surprising to me. I think that goes to show you how die-hard the Batman variant collectors are. On the other hand, only 2 copies of the Superman 50 2nd print newsstand have surfaced. I believe there should be just as many Superman 50's out there, but I don't think there is anywhere near the same interest in finding them as the Batman's.
  5. Wow... what did the pack cost you? That one one is among the rarest of the rare.
  6. Justice League New 52 #1 had a 3rd and 4th printing come out in newsstand format, which was very odd. Again, probably due to demand. I have them both in hand. I bought them both on ebay just because I thought it was very odd to see 3rd and 4th printings in newsstand. I never saw a #1 2nd printing newsstand issue.
  7. No, because that is the first printing. I think MyComicShop is all sold out of 2nd prints again. Chances of finding the 2nd print with newsstand bar code on front cover would seem slim though, even if they had 2nd prints in stock.
  8. LOL. Maybe RockMyAmadeus has that case of Superman 50 2nd print newsstands, but I sure do not. Here's the story... 1. Many moons ago, RockMyAmadeus theorized that Superman 50's 2nd printing might have a newsstand edition just like Batman 457's 2nd printing. This hunch made a lot of sense when you compare the two issues. Both were originally cover dated December 1990. Both had a bold banner at the top to identify the second printing (i.e, "New Robin Issue" on the BM 457 and "Historic Engagement Issue" on the SM 50). 2. On or about Feb 2017, RockMyAmadeus got the elusive Superman 50 2nd print newsstand and published the results. http://the-comic-book-forum.boards.net/thread/812/discovery-superman-1990-print-newsstand 3. RockMyAmadeus would not sell at any price and I turned green with envy. 4. I looked high and low for another newsstand variant of Superman 50 2nd print. I also bought out all of MyComicsShop's 20 or so Superman 50 2nd prints, hoping that one would be a newsstand issue. But the search was fruitless. 5. At the suggestion of some friends, I posted a $200 "wanted to buy" thread on this website last February. I got no hits and raised the ante to $300. Still no hits, and I decided to raise it to $500 to see if I can get someone else to find the Superman 50. The price is ridiculous, but I don't have a lot of time to chase these down but I really wanted a copy to marry up with my Batman 457 2nd print newsstand issue. I do think this might be the highest price that will ever be paid for the Superman 50, because Superman variant collectors don't seem to be as fanatical as Batman variant collectors. 5. Just a few weeks ago, MyComicShop found two more 2nd printings of Superman 50 and posted them on their website. Bffnut bought both copies and one of them was the 2nd print newsstand. After going through this range of emotions: I gladly paid $500 to bffnut and he shipped the comic book in a way that even the most zealous postman could not damage. 6. The real mystery: There were many second printings of DC Comics produced around the same time as Superman 50, Batman 457, and Robin 1. Why were these the only ones found to have come out in newsstand format? We don't know for sure. One of the best explanations I've found is RockMyAmadeus' theory that those issues were so popular, DC needed to get those second printings also sent out to newsstands to satisfy demand. Thank you to RockMyAmadeus for discovering this variant (if the word "discovering" ever applied to a variant, I think this is it). And thank you very much to bffnut for finding and selling it to me.
  9. Thanks for bffnut, I now have the a copy of Superman #50 2nd print newsstand, which I believe is the sister newsstand issue to Batman 457 2nd print news. And thanks to Rockmyamadeus for finding and pointing out this comic book (very cool detective work on his part)
  10. Nice. And yes the Superboy 30 is among the hard to find.
  11. Mysterio -- I like your "gateway drug" analogy... LOL. Once you get most of them, you might become willing to pay big bucks for the few really hard to find ones. I'm down to six wanted, and I would gladly pay $100 if someone found any of them in VF or better. Of these six wanted, I know for sure that three exist but the other three have never been seen. They are Superman 95, 113, 117, Superman Man of Steel 49 and 50, and Adv of Superman 530. I have a nice spare Action 718 DCU, and I offered it to Bomber-Bob for $5 (I might even have two of those spare 718's)... I'm more than willing find DCUs for others in hopes that someone will help find ones I need... just like you have done many times in the past, Mysterio.
  12. I've seen a lot of Batman 436's with green bullet but never saw one in newsstand. Do you know why they created the green bullet version? I thought it was a test of some sort.
  13. There are a lot of unmarked second prints from that same time frame, but we've only found Batman 457, SM 50 and Robin #1 with a newsstand version of the second printing. By unmarked 2nd prints, I mean there's nothing on the cover like a Roman numeral II to show it is a 2nd print. Examples include: Flash 40, 41, 44 Wonder Woman 47, 48 Green Lantern 1, 2 Superboy 1, 8 Justice League Europe 6, 10 Action 654, 660 Superman 463, 467 Justice League America 36, 37, 45 Batman 397-399, 401-403, 408-416, 421-425, 430-432, 445-447, 467-471, 475-480 Detective 642 Superman 2, 3, 12, 10-21, 23-25, 44, 51, 52 Because they are unmarked on the front cover, some of the ones listed above can be hard to find. Most came from 3-packs that were sold in places like K-Bee toys and Walgreens. The Superman 50, BM 457, and Robin 1 2nd printings have not been seen in a 3-pack, so I personally believe these were odd-balls and the origin of their corresponding 2nd print newsstands remains unknown.
  14. ASM 536 was from a Superman Fiercest Foes pack. 537 must have come from a two-pack. It is not unusual for those to be in VF or better (I think I have all Adv of Superman, Batman, TEC, Action, Superman, Justice League adn Superman Man of Steel DCUs in high grade (I had to upgrade quite a few to get there, though).
  15. I think ASM 536 and 537 are not that common. If you look closely at the MOS #28, I think you will see that it is really issue #35 instead. If it really is the variant of MOS #28, I will have the DC Bullet symbol on the front cover instead of DC Universe symbol in the UPC box.
  16. yes, I meant to say "buyer did not pay" instead of seller. But no worries here.... I think it karma really wanted my friend to have it. I only put it up for bid to prove the point that there probably is some demand for this Robin comic book. I think it is safe to say that you could get at least one hundred bucks for a nice copy if you find one and put it up for sale.
  17. The sale of this Robin #1 2nd print newsstand went very oddly for me. On the second time I put it up for bid, the high bid was approximately $152 but buyer did not pay and did not respond to messages. So I reported the buyer and cancelled the sale. I decided to sell to a good friend of mine who really loves Robin comics book for $50. He said he was glad to pay $50 so that he would not have to add another item to his want list (I can really relate to that). So now this comic book is in the hands of someone who will appreciate it. Note: I edited the posting above to replace "seller" with "buyer". Brain cramp on my part
  18. Yes, I have a JLA 190 with jeweler insert. Thanks for letting me know. In that time frame, they can be hard to find.
