Well, here's The Big Gun's kid brother.
Crime Patrol 16, second appearance of The Crypt Keeper. Title becomes The Crypt of Terror with issue 17
And the rodents did a number on this copy.
Here's the FC, chewed up pretty good.
Here's page 1, ditto.
Price?

By all means help yourself!I hope to! It wasn't for lack of trying in past threads...
Hope your weather isn't too bad up there. I am supposed to be heading to Detroit tomorrow.

It's been a while since I won a book in one of Rick's threads. Feels good.

All right, here's the Big Gun for the thread.
Crime Patrol 15
First appearance of The Crypt Keeper, this is the title and story that starts it all.
Great looking copy with a couple flaws. I'm posting FC, BC, and an enlargement of one small section of the BC,
because I'm asking a pretty aggressive price for this one.Front cover is sharp, good gloss, minor general wear, and short sub-type crease that doesn't break color,
you have to hold it just so in the light to see it.Back cover is just as glossy, but has a few small rust migrations from other books along spine, and mid-spine there is an
apx. 1/4 x 1 piece out, looks like a mouse or bug chew to me, see the third image.4.0? 3.5? 4.5? If it doesn't sell I'll have it pressed and slabbed. Interior is tight with offwhite - white pages.
A 5.0 recently sold for $3000 according to GPA analysis.
I'm asking $1200, firm, or I'll send it out for the press and the grade.
I'll take it

Ok then where do you draw the line? Tomb of Terror was a horror book but switched to sci-fi at the end. War Against Crime and Crime Patrol are "crime" books but featured the first EC horror hosts. All are considered PCH, as is CSS 22, by most people I know.
I don't know, but Crime Suspenstories #22 contains all crime stories. Crime Patrol #15 contains a horror story. Not that Overstreet is the answer, but Crime Suspenstories #22 is list as the most valuable crime book and Crime Patrol #15 is listed as a top ten horror book.

If we are talking purely $$$ potential at auction, I can't imagine any PCH book selling for more than one of the two 9.6 GFC copies of Crime Suspenstories 22.
An 8.5 copy sold for $9,560 at Heritage 3 years ago.
Maybe, but it is Crime Suspenstories. The cover may be horrific, but it is a crime book.

That list is missing a few books and the values are off on some. I'd pay $200 (the minimum value listed for the issue) for any complete copy (even coverless) for Weird Mysteries 5, for example. I did a double take with Werewolf by Night coming in right after Weird Mysteries #5.

All but #66 sold per PM!

I was tempted more than once to pick this up, I love it! But keep thinking, can I open another door into collecting? Must..... stay..... focused.....
Ah, but for, say, $50 shipped, it can just be wall decoration...no need to open another door.

Shipping to Canada is fine. I should have noted that in the terms. I'll charge exact postage to Canada. On the set, I'll credit $4 against Canadian shipping.
-
There are eight books plus the freebie. Take them all for $120 shipped.

Hangman 7 - trimmed or other?
in Golden Age Comic Books

The trimmed copy that started this thread. If I read it correctly, it was in the same auction that saw the Classics sell for $400.
