  1. Pleased to have found this; an absolute bargain because of those awful ring binder holes, but I've been after this for a while and it'll do until I can afford one in better condition!
  2. Those ring-binder holes are tragic, but it was severely marked down in price because of them. Still, I've wanted this for a while and having one in this condition for a bargain will do for now!
  3. I'm from Sheffield so I always go to the one there. Went to the Leeds one in April; seems to be more stalls there and ones selling more Silver Age stuff. Managed to pick up a full run of DMZ off a nice chap there, too.
  4. Looks like pork belly, black pudding and mash.
  5. Comic fair today, picked these up. Been after the Defenders one for some time. Not in as great a condition as I was after though but the price was fair. Also no Marvel Premiere 15, so 16 will do for now:
  6. Are you insane? I found it for 50p just the other day. You can get the full run for less than $20 you lunatic.
  7. 'scuse the crappy photo, but I'm stoked about finding these today for a bargain.
  8. Got a really good deal considering the seller was advertising it on the premise of it 'blowing up' with the TV series. Personally I just hope it's as good a read as I've heard. Also this because I'm a sucker for 70s Marvel and it was a bit of a bargain. Sorry about pic quality but it's in damn good shape, too:
  9. Currently blazing through Scalped (it's awesome), can't wait for this.
  10. Seriously, you can't read it fast enough. It's quickly become one of my favourite series ever. It's one of those books that not many seem to have read but everyone who has raves about it. It's gold.
  11. Holy mess, this is awesome. Always loved Brubaker's work, but only just gotten into his superhero stuff with The Winter Soldier; I guess this is a good middle-ground between that and his real-world crime stuff, in that it's dealing with inherently silly subjects like Mr Freeze and a psychopath in a bat suit, but making their world far more grounded and 'realistic' than any other fiction which has attempted to do so with his usual mastery of pulpy dialogue and characters that feel far more human than any other comic book writer I know. Him and Greg Rucka have done a fabulous job of exploring the idea of a real police force working in a real city that happens to have Batman and theatrical villains in it; the fact that they're often embarrassed and ashamed to have to give their cases over to him when they can't solve them, as well as having Batman as an aspirational figure, is a really interesting angle. Why this doesn't get talked about alongside the usual suspects like TDKR, Year One and The Killing Joke as one of best stories in the DCU is kind of a travesty. I guess the lack of Batman appearing has something to do with it, but it seems like a seriously underrated series. Hopefully if the Gotham TV series ever gets off the ground then this may get some more recognition, even if it's not a direct adaptation. Serious, serious quality.
  12. Looking to buy a piece of OA, my first one so I'm going to have a really good look round first to make sure it's something I love. I'd really like to own some art by Riley Rossmo, in particular something from Dia De Los Muertos but I can't seem to find anything for sale other than a few pages from Proof. Is it standard practice to email the artists directly and ask?
  13. So is this worth picking up in practically any condition then?
  14. Saw a talk with him a couple of weeks ago; I always enjoyed his stuff but now I have much more appreciation of his work than I did before. My favourite is still Criminal, but I'm yet to read Gotham Central, Cap and Daredevil.
  15. Met David Lloyd last week at The Lakes International Comic Art Festival. As the lovely man that he is he did this little scribble for me. Wasn't expecting anything, so to get any at all was amazing.
  16. Silly me, saw a talk with Ed on Saturday where he explained exactly that!
  17. Yeah it is. Think I heard someone say there were 1000 copies of it, but there was no way they'd all sell out at the festival, so expect them to pop up online soon. And the interior artwork is very reminiscent of Sean Phillips; it's kind of a wonder why they didn't just do this together.
  18. One small tick in the spine but other than that it's perfect.
  19. Just picked up issue 1 first print for £10 ($16). Did I do good?
  20. Picked up this Sean Phillips exclusive variant at the Lakes Comic Art Festival today. Couldn't find a pic online so here's my shoddy camera photo. Great thriller that asks 'what-if Moneypenny all the 00 agents and not just Bond'. Another pure class read from Brubaker.
  21. My LCS has a copy of WD #50 they're trying to sell for £100. I didn't have the heart to tell them it's not worth mess as they're nice guys and I buy a lot of stuff from there. According to them #1 sells for seven to eight thousand dollars.
  22. Also anyone have any idea what I could realistically sell the V for Vendettas for? I'm sure the missus has the TPB somewhere but I couldn't pass up the chance of picking these up for that price.
  23. £1 for each of the V's, £5 for Punisher, no more than a pound for the rest. Not a bad haul, I'd say. I'd picked out a third Action #1 reprint and Powers #1 for 60p each but I must have left them behind.
