  1. Hopefully we'll have some new news to share soon Thanks for keeping the interest alive! And while I'm at it: hope you guys check out VIOLENT LOVE, my new Image ongoing with Victor Santos. It'll be launching in a few weeks (Nov. 9th) and if you like any of my stuff, I think you'll be happy! Hopefully we'll have some FG news for you all very soon! Best, Frank
  2. Not really a fan of people putting words in my mouth, especially when they proclaim "we are cancelling the book because it doesn't sell/TV is dead in the water." As Chris stated, we've worked on the book for three years straight and want to try something else for a bit. It's a project we love, and our own creation, so we'll definitely be coming back to it. As of now, it's on hiatus, but we'll definitely be returning in the future--we have to resolve some cliffhangers after all! Re: "our sales"--selling anything in this market is really tough, and honestly if we wanted to jump off the train because of sales we would have done that around issue #10. We stuck it out for 18 issues because this a book we love, and yeah we don't really make great returns on the single issue sales. But I would NEVER say, especially to a fan, we "are cancelling the book because it doesn't sell." That's far from it, and while we are taking a hiatus it's not really due to our single issue sales. If you want to crunch that data, go ahead and read it all on icv2 or comichron--those numbers are publicly reported. And the TV stuff: these things take years. We had a lot of momentum, but ultimately no one was happy with the -script that was written (by Evan Daugherty who wrote the most recent Ninja Turtles movie). Syfy ended up passing on that, but that doesn't discredit the project from further adaptation/etc. It's a long process, but we were excited to be in the fast lane for a moment. Anyhow, I appreciate everyone for their support of the book and to keep that fire burning for future work/etc. Thanks!
  3. Fresh off the artboard...here's Chris's painting/coverart for the hardcover coming up in June!
  4. Wow, appreciate the support, Krighton. You're always so positive and seem to have my career all figured out. Reading back on this thread, it seems the timing of announcing Broken World/excitement for Five Ghosts misled you guys. Apologies. Hopefully we'll have pilot news very, very soon. Despite some people thinking they know how Hollywood works/hoping things fail, we are very far along and it's going really well. Clearly you'll be the first people I share news with, and Chris, Lauren, and I appreciate your enthusiasm.
  5. The hardcover WILL have a brand new, PAINTED cover. We just used that for solicits because they were due so far in advance.
  6. Hey guys! I put up a preview of issue #15 on my tumblr. You can check it out here: http://fjbarb.tumblr.com/post/108929586385/five-ghosts-15-monsters-men-part-3-frank
  7. Also, as a point of interest: our collaborator S.M. Vidaurri (who you guys know from his wonderful second print variants) is doing a full, painted story for FIVE GHOSTS: SPECIAL #1 in MARCH. The solicit should go live this month. I'll have a backup story with another guest artist and we'll announce some cool variants as we get closer to release. We'll have some other cool surprised soon
  8. Hey guys, here's a look at the trade #3 cover that will be out THIS APRIL.
  9. Hey guys! #14 on the shelves this week. Here's a preview on my tumblr: http://fjbarb.tumblr.com/post/104089410100/five-ghosts-14-frank-j-barbiere-chris
  10. Hey guys, Tomorrow I'll be signing in DE at The Comic Book Shop. If you're in the area, come say hey! http://www.thecomicbookshop.com/frank-barbiere-signing-saturday-11-22-14/
  11. Yes, our volume 1 trades were reprinted back in January. Might be heading to a third printing soon, as well.
  12. Not wearing us out at all I had to do a bunch of panels, meetings, etc. the last two days, but today I'll be at the table ALL DAY (with exception of lunch from 2-3) and most of the day tomorrow. We do have some cool statue stuff in the works...can't say with who yet, but keep your eyes peeled. Lots more coming down the line. And some info on Black Mask: Matt who runs Black Mask is a close friend of mine. We initially partnered to start developing some animation/new media stuff, and then the TV stuff happened. Black Mask signed on as producers to the show as we have a great relationship with them and they helped navigate a lot of the Holllywood landscape. They do publish comics, but Five Ghosts will remain at IMAGE as it's our home for publishing.
  13. NYCC Update! We unfortunately didn't have time to get a show exclusive together for the show because of working on the new issues (d'oh!). However, we will be putting something very special and limited together just for board members shortly after the con, so I'll keep you informed! Chris and I hope to see you east coasters this weekend! Best, Frank
  14. We'll be in the Artists' Alley all week/weekend at table R6, as well as at an "official" Image signing on SUNDAY from 12 to 12:45 P.M. Also note we'll be at FORBIDDEN PLANET on WEDNESDAY NIGHT (10/8) with a bunch of other Image creators for an informal signing. It'll definitely be a much more tame atmosphere than the con, so if you can make it--come on out!
  15. Though they were only speculating here, let me be the first to tell you all: Five Ghosts is officially in development for television at SYFY. We're working on a pilot now, will have lots and lots to report. Thanks for keeping the faith! See you all at NYCC! http://deadline.com/2014/10/five-ghosts-comic-series-syfy-series-evan-daugherty-846957/
