  1. Yea, what mdktkd2 said! I found this forum after searching for information on archival supplies - hadn't touched my collection in years and recently found much of the bags and boards were yellowing, browning, and even disintegrating... So I'm now slowly re-bagging/boarding with Mylites and acid-free boards. And after seeing all these incredible books posted here, I got jealous and made two big pickups in less than a month after 20 years of not collecting. I blame you guys!
  2. Thanks! Being from Hawaii, always wanted that "Pearl Harbor" Cap cover. Good luck in your quest for your Cap #3, gino2paulus2! And here's a larger image of the USA 8. Too bad about that spine length tape stain, but it's still decent looking. I picked it up sometime in the early 90s.
  3. After 20+ years, I dipped my toes back into the collecting pool by picking up some issues, a nice NM set of Conan 23 and 24 (1st Red Sonja), then a NM Detective 473 (Marshall Rogers Penguin issue) from ft88. Then I slipped and fell in and ended up picking up my Gold grail, Captain America 13. Low grade and paid a bit more than I wanted, but it presents well, I think. Then on Monday, I picked up a Bronze grail, Green Lantern 76 SS O'Neill and Adams from Hibou. Wasn't planning to pick up another $$$ book so soon, but Hibou generously donated 25% of his sales to Fayzbones. Over $16,000 was raised by this community (whoa!) and was glad to be able help just a little. I think I better unplug my computer and avoid the internet for a while so my wallet can recover... 4. Thanks! Those books were on my want list years ago. Glad I could get them in a nice shape and at a decent price.
  5. Thanks! What made you come back? For me, it was looking through a few books again and noticed most of the bags and boards were in bad shape. Been spending the last few months replacing them with Mylites and acid free boards for the better books (not a cheap endeavor!). And by doing so, now remembered what was missing in my collection. Also, while looking up comic supplies, I found this forum and been in awe of these incredible books out there. Started picking up a few Adams Green Lantern/Green Arrow all those years ago, but never got around to the 76. Looked at the current prices and whoa... The Conan 23 and 24 was a much safer re-introduction for me (got 'em both for about the same as a tank of gas). Spent 20 years repairing my relationship, but I think my bank account may start hating me again soon!
  6. Whoa... to follow that sweet Miller run... It's been 20+ years since I stopped collecting, but I guess I'm back in with this with this small acquisition...
  7. Thanks again walclark (sorry for the error in my earlier post!)! To see large scans of all these WWII covers, whoa... very nice!
  8. Thanks Walcart! One more cover with a similar theme to the USA 8 above:
  9. Thanks Vaillant! I half-jokingly say morbid as essentially, these wartime caricatures depict my family background. But I do find these WWII covers fascinating and humorous! I was also looking for non-satiric books on the Japanese-American experience during the war and found one, EC's Frontline Combat 5, which featured a lead story on the 442nd (the famed Japanese-American combat unit). Anyone know of others? Another of my favorite covers. Too bad about the tape, though...
  10. Just found about this board and have been doing a lot of reading the past few weeks. Very enjoyable and informative! Haven't seriously collected in over 20 years, but feel a relapse coming on, especially after reading the various threads here. I started to dabble in Timely and DC WWII covers before real life got in the way (damn, you food and shelter!). Anyway, being Japanese-American, I had a (morbid?) fascination with how the enemy Japanese were depicted. One of my favorite covers, Action 58:
