Here's your kudos thread.
Thanks Mike! Pitboss was kind enough to provide it earlier, but I sincerely appreciate you providing it as well. 🙂

Hey all! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I used to have a lengthy kudos/feedback page, but I can’t find it anywhere. Hopefully some of y’all might remember me and can vouch for me if need be.
Anyway, up for grabs is my Silver Surfer 1 CGC 4.0.

Disney is off to a great start with the X-Men. I wonder if they’ll use the original theme song.
Either way, I’m super stoked for this!

Don't bother checking the mid to low grades, just like in real-estate, you want to observe the high-ends to see if there's any turn. they are the ones that driving the prices. High-ends have to come down first, then lower-ends will follow
Well, I do recommend checking out GPA Analysis for recent sales data, especially since it’s free for this particular book.

Everything is hitting stupid numbers
For me, it's at the point of
Is this a peak and crash situation?
Or
Is this an influx of new collectors
All my purchases now, besides what I normally collect, are based on getting books I've always wanted now at inflated prices and picking the ones that I feel will never come down again (hence my xmen 12 pickup)
Definitely an influx of new collectors.
I’ve seen quite a few YouTube videos of baseball card collectors “expanding their portfolio” into Marvel cards, and I can only imagine how many of them have ventured into comic books from there.

For books that I'm watching, ASM 238 has slowed and actually dropped quite a bit from its peak 4-5 weeks ago.
The other books that I'm tracking are still in high demand at ever-increasing prices:
ASM 121, 129, 194, 195, 210, 252, 298, 299, 300, 326, 365, Ann 16
Hulk 340
Thor 337
That’s interesting.
Makes me wonder if a domino effect is in place, and that’s what’s going to bring this market down.
The correction has to start somewhere, right?

Looking at 8.5 grades, I can see how one might think that this book is slowing down a little.
But I’m still not seeing enough data to draw any conclusions that H181 is slowing down as a whole, especially when you consider that pre-movie speculation price jumps really haven’t occurred yet. We might see some dormant activity, but I highly doubt this is where H181 levels off.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of value explosion we’ll see when Disney finally announces their plans for Wolverine.

this one is best offer accepted, it means it sold below the listed price

this one is also best offer accepted

in contrast to late-march/early-april

That 9.0 that sold for a Best Offer could have sold for at least 12K.
The two 9.0 books before that sold for nearly 14K.
So like I said, 12k to 14k is what they seem to be selling for on eBay, and I don’t see ANY 9.0 copies that sold for nearly 14K in the month of March on eBay.
Finally, the last sale price doesn’t really mean anything as a collective.
So no, I really don’t see any significant amount of data indicating that this book is slowing down, not in 9.0, anyway.

I doubt things are slowing down. Looks like completed eBay listings for a 9.0 is averaging 12K to 14K.

Anyway, I see no problem. 10 9.8 copies of X-Men 282 are apparently worth around $5K in this market.
Thanks for proving my point.

Timing that is pretty darn hard. By the time prices actually move down, there is usually a flood of people trying to sell and you can't find any buyers.
That’s never been my experience. I suppose if you sleep in too late you’ll miss the opportunity.

The current market makes ZERO sense to me.
We’re seeing unprecedented price hikes across the board for no real reason, other than it seems like people outside of the comic book realm have ventured into this territory, and are now using sheer speculation to drive up prices.
I don’t see the current madness being sustainable either. As soon as the people who aren’t collectors jump ship, prices will probably go with them, and a correction will most likely occur.
My plan is to sell my collection as soon as I start to see prices trending downward. It may be a couple of years, but it will happen.
I should be excited knowing that several of the books I own have tripled in value, but I’m actually feeling pretty discouraged about the whole thing. It’s just a really, really dumb market right now.
Gone are the days of gradual, healthy growth, and when you could somewhat predict where the market was going.
Hang onto your dreck, people.

Unfortunately, sexual energy can definitely be destroyed.
However, scientists have figured out how to encapsulate it in little blue pills.
You’ll have to forgive me. I’ve had a little too much to drink tonight.

I just hope any newcomers to the hobby, be it from card collectors or what not, find the hobby enjoyable and stick around long enough for minor keys too....
That's actually a really good way of looking at it.

I have zero desire to see this, and that’s saying a lot, since I really liked the first two.
But honestly? I’m burned out by Disney and Marvel, and after watching the trailer I feel like I’ve seen this movie a million times already.
The formula just isn’t exciting anymore.
