  1. The listing didn't look legit to me originally - This part seems off/against ebay policy?? Perhaps not...

Iam open to a reasonable offers!

HERES MY # 587 991 2206! GIVE ME A TEXT OR A CALL! PRICE TO SELL!!

Also, no better pics for such a high-priced item?

    Just my two cents...

Pretty sure that is a "no fly zone" policy wise...

  2. He definitely needs better pictures but it didn't seem to hinder his first auction.

    I don't think it's a fake or anything...I bet it's legit.

Couldn't he have done a 2nd chance offer to the under-bidder?

I don't know if it is fake or not but this second auction is definitely not kosher.

  3. I digress. The irony of a store owner that is an Invincible fan, named his store Invincible, but doesn't sell his Invincible comics, got under your thin skin.

This speaks volumes about you and your lack of maturity.

Just as your excitement over the fact that he "purposefully does not" shows yours.

  4. That's the kind of response I was expecting. You felt the need to respond, negatively, to a simple comment I made about a store named 'Invincible Comics'. You didn't have to like it, of course, but you felt compelled to let it be known.

Fortunately, I didn't have to resort to calling you 'stupid'. You did fine all by yourself.

    What are you babbling about?

Cripes. You were sharing that it is "neato" that a comic shop owner likes Invincible so much he won't be selling the title at all. Even though the name of his shop will be "Invincible Comics."

How does that in any world sound like a good thing? For him, for his shop, for the comic or for the fans?

    :makepoint:

People are literally going to go to his shop looking for the title and won't find it. Why is that a positive experience for anyone?

  5. Just met the owner of Invincible Comics at a convention this weekend. He's got an FB store with some great slabs. What's really funny is that he's a huge Invincible fan, will be opening a store with the same name, but won't be selling any Invincible books. He loves them too much! How awesome is that?

It isn't really all that awesome... Nor does it make any sense.

    party pooper

Why, I love Invincible comics and am a fan of local comic shops. So when you tell me a new local comic shop is going to be named "Invincible" but doesn't sell Invincible because he "likes them too much," I call it like it is: stupid.

He doesn't have to be all about the comic and can definitely be a fan, but not selling them for any reason does not make business sense and is actually counter-intuitive to fandom. If he loves the character he should be stocking the product to help bring in new readers, support the existing ones and drive growth so it will be around a long time.

    So yeah, stupid.

Could someone post the census stats on Brave and the Bold 28 versus Avengers 1?

    ???

    Avengers 1 - 1972 blue labels - 2806 total

    BB28 - 655 blue labels - 796 total

More than 3 times the amount of AV 1 to BB28.

High grade copies (8.0 and above):

    Avengers 1 - 190 (58 in 9.0 and above)

    X-men 1 - 233 (67 in 9.0 and above)

    Brave and the Bold 28 - 51 (13 in 9.0 and above)

Those are just the slabbed copies at CGC. I have seen hundreds of both Avengers 1 and X-men 1 raw in market. Very few Brave and the Bold 28 raw.

    Quick eBay check:

X-men 1 - over 50 copies for sale on eBay (stopped counting at 51)

Avengers 1 - over 50 copies for sale on eBay (stopped counting at 51)

Brave and the Bold 28 - ~29 copies for sale on eBay (a few coverless)

    Good input! Thank you.

  8. Hey J,

What did the last X-23 9.8 sell for?

    Public or private ?

    -J.

Either or both if you know.

Sorry for the late reply. I know the last private 9.8 sale was for $1600 a few weeks ago.

Looks like the one one ebay just sold for that. (?)

    -J.

That is another of his covers where I am a little meh . He has better artwork to be had!

Definitely going to have to disagree with you on that one my friend.

I don't think there has been a better X 23 cover done to date by any one.

    -J.

    To each their own buddy.

Personally I think both of these two are better (particularly the Cho cover):

    Original quote for posterity.

I find it hard to appreciate other members comics in their signature lines since most of the time the images are blurry or something else takes away from the true beauty of these gems. So show them in larger format!!

    For me:

    X-Men #1 CGC 9.2 White Pages

    Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 6.5

  12. I never paid export fees from Canada to the U.S (I do not believe they do that here in Canada).

The worst company for a Canadian buyer is UPS they charge a insane amount of money for brokerage fees and FeDex is the best they charge the correct amount based by your provincial rate versus using the general Federal tax rate witch is 13,5% here in Canada. I never use any other shipping service any more when purchasing a item that is worth a 1000$ or more from the U.S (I never purchase from any other countries...I do not trust them).

If you declare the book as a children's book (which is what the government considers comics) then you are supposed to pay 5% plus whatever brokerage fees are involved.

US buyers don't pay customs on comics.

Right, 5% and if you request USPS you don't have any brokerage fees. Feels like a "must know" situation if you are buying multi-thousand dollar books.

I thought technically they could be considered "books" (category 7) and pay only the Sales Tax of 5%.

  13. big worry this weekend is if Superman/Batman crashes hard in week 2 (this weekend) and in the end tops out at 600-750MM worldwide, will the JLA movie be in jeopardy?

probably not as WB has a lot riding on their comics franchises, but there won't be a lot of ecstatic execs on the lot come Monday .

That's because they will all be canned..........and justifiably so.

The one positive could be that Zack Snyder is replaced for the JLA movies.

It is a silly world we live in when a movie has to top $750MM to be called a "success."

There are people in that industry being paid entirely too much to do their jobs...
