  1. They clearly bit off more that they should have in 2015, and their shows all suffered. I don't think anyone else looked at Des Moines or Madison and thought that those markets were ripe for giant comic shows. Not to mention able to justify $1,100 booths for a three day show. As already mentioned, their efforts to muscle into Indy and Orlando were also really stupid wastes of big money.

There was a Wizard World Convention in Des Moines? Wow, I had no idea and I live in Iowa..

  2. I want my children to have the best batch possible and that is 9.8. I have 8 of the 12 but I have a 9.4 #1 and 4. I see no need to send any more books to CGC when there is so many horror stories of mis grades.

Man, your kids are going to be so upset when they find out you shortchanged them by going for 9.8's instead of 9.9's and 10's. I hate to think how that will play out down the road.. family gatherings will be brutal.

Lovin' the conspiracy theories though, I think you've managed to hit most of them in one thread. There's a couple more you haven't gotten to yet, but I'm sure in time you'll get there.

  3. Was wondering if some of the 35 cent variant collectors could help me out. I'm a Scooby Doo completist, and was aware a 35-cent variant of Scooby 1 existed. Haven't really sought one out but found the below eBay auction. Without really any knowledge of how difficult this book is with a 35 cent price on it, is this too much to pay?

  4. The results would HAVE to be confirmed. Otherwise you get shilled up prices on books that never exchanged hands. Do we really need GPA to report an ASM 89 9.4 selling for 2.5k? Or some of the more outlandish results for that matter. I always get a kick out of some of these CL auctions, where ppl bid up some random books to absurd levels and then the underbidder just disappears.. no where to be seen when a similar copy goes up for a fraction of the price.

  5. And that has what to do with your allegations?

I'm not Jason so I'm not in the least bit uncomfortable. I'm quite happy with all my purchases from him. What has changed, however, is that my opinion of you dropped significantly when you started making allegations without any (available) proof. Whether you care or not makes no diff to me.

  6. I certainly did. He is out of town until Thursday so you probably won't hear back from until then. He asked that I didn't post his response.

    In a nutshell he says..

He doesn't read these forums and has no interest to. He doesn't press books, period.

The DD 11 was sold as a 9.4 to a customer. The customer successfully resubmitted for a 9.6. Was later consigned to Jason and then later after that the customer told him to unlist it.

  7. I skipped most of the "We hate Jason Ewert" thread, but was curious if anyone emailed him for a response? You said that if "Ewert answered a query so openly" yada yada yada. Does this mean you've emailed him and asked or are you just assuming he won't reply because he doesn't do so on these boards?

  8. That great! Just run collectors off if they don't want to "join the club" and condon questionable and possibly unethical tactics in this hobby. Really great!

They've probably already joined the club. Pressing has been around forever, not all pressed books are in CGC holders.

  9. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to press to NOT sell them. I was speaking more about the fact that you don't have to slab a book to sell it. Raw books move all the time, are these just as likely to be pressed as CGC ones? I think so. It's the same idea; maximize grade, maximize money.

  10. Well, one of the rarest ASMs in 9.4 is 63. Know what it's surrounded by? The two most common books. 64 and 62. So just because one book in a run is really common, it doesn't mean that every book around it HAS to be equally or more common.
