  1. Oh man I want that Definitely the the best OA sketch cover uncovered. The other drawings seemed uninspired but Campbell looks like he put his best as usual.
  2. OH cool to see one of the original art pieces opened, wish they made it more clear how many OA books were released.
  3. Picked up a couple copies of these as well as a friend shopping at a different store. All copies we opened had crumpled upper left corner spines at around the same location. Wondering if anyone else whose opened these have found the same production damage and what the rarity of a NM copy is.
  4. Looking for the center wrap to Detective Comics 73 or a coverless copy.
  5. Just received my first commission in the mail today! From Allen Bellman at the Grand Rapids Comic Con. Very pleased to have this be the first art commission to enter my collection, from a legend of the Golden Age.
  6. http://moviepilot.com/posts/2015/04/26/calm-down-the-joker-will-not-have-tattoos-in-suicide-squad-2887773?lt_source=external,manual,manual,manual,manual,manual,manual,manual Looks like there might be a shred of hope yet...
  7. I didn't know it was possible to have a job as a character concept/make-up artist designer and create something so atrocious. Its really not that hard to design the Joker, he's a lot more straight forward than a lot of villians. This took some effort to ruin the Joker so thoroughly. Not a single one of those tattoos feel in character and look like they belong to some junkie fanboy of the Joker in his gang.
  8. Ugh, Doom looks like some techno-organic poorly designed mess. And there looks to be nothing loveable nor blue eyed about this Thing.
  9. The difference, again is the power of offscreen suggestion. Take my Joker example from The Dark Knight when he kills Gambol with the knife in his mouth we don't see anything. We know what he did we don't have to see his face torn up. It would add nothing to the character of the Joker to have seen Gambol's mutilated face onscreen. And that is the sort of approach to violence I would prefer to see. Would you have seen Fisk differently if that scene proceeded mostly the same but didn't have the squashed brains spill out and bloody rain? That's the edge of going too far in my opinion.
  10. I disagree with this notion Daredevil should be gritty just because it can. If they held back on the super graphic things the plot would not suffer in the slightest. What does it honestly gain from protruding bones and smashed bodies? I think DD is in fact important to be accessible to kids because he is a disabled hero. Disabled kids should be able to enjoy DD as a symbol of overcoming that.
  11. I'm up to ep 4 right now. I think Matt/Daredevil is well acted and good choreography. I'm not sold on Fisk yet. I've always thought the character more refined then to throw a temper tantrum cause his date didn't go as planned. Came off a bit childish. I'm also not digging some of the ultra violence. It really wasn't necessary to the other to have him slam the door into the guy like that. Or the exposed rib cracking, showing protruding bones. I don't like superheroes being so kid unfriendly. We never had to see Nolan 's Joker mutilate someone on screen to know what he was capable of. Sometimes the power of suggestion is better than showing graphic violence.
  12. So... what you're saying is she probably has little to nothing to do with Vader once this story arc is over? Is she a Jedi, Sith, or a bounty hunter with a cool costume? What is her appeal? Would really like to hear from someone that actually read this thing - I still see no appeal here, but while people are buying them up on eBay, I don't blame you guys for selling them. Gotta wonder why people are paying what they're paying, no one here has said anything even slightly compelling with regards to this book - as close as it got is Larry's "3 new characters connected to Vader", which is a pretty poor explanation for a $15 book day of release. I read it, I think she's like a female Han Solo...she may even be undercover working for the good guys. She's a female space Indiana Jones. Totally got that vibe too I feel like the only reason anyone is comparing her to Indy is the "It belongs in a ___" obvious reference. She certainly doesn't have the charisma of Indy and seemed way to silly/causal than Darth Vader would ever endure.. I found the issue extremely lacking especially in text, which there was barely any of. I'm not really sure whats so hyped about this character.
  13. Because it's pretty much the first unique character created by the Marvel/Disney/Star Wars conglomerate themselves. That bodes very well that this character will now be a 'thing'. Really? This is the first new character in these newly launched Star Wars books? Isn't the women copilot in the Leia mini series the first new character introduced into the new Marvel Star Wars Universe?
  14. My LCS got 2 1:25 Darth Vader 3 in, (got 1 for $10) but apparently only enough reg cover for subscribers. They didn't have a single reg cover on the self. Maybe they got struck by the allocations?
  15. Looks like Female Thor, Falcon Cap, Ms. Marvel, Vision, Iron Man, and Miles Morales. Considering how long it took Spidey to get accepted on the team I have a hard time believing new Ms. Marvel would be ready for the level of danger and threat (especially comic) the Avengers have to face. I'm not saying she shouldn't ever be allowed on the team, but it seems too early in her character growth for that.
  16. I picked up the incentive copy at 3.99 yesterday. I feel lucky the RI cover on 42 caught my eye and I randomly purchased it. I hadn't read any other issue of this current run but I really enjoyed it. And I've decided to follow since. I don't think anyone really saw this death coming so it's a pretty cool issue. I feel like I should check if the regular cover copy is still there. TMNT doesn't seem very popular there.
  17. Do you think there is an speculative value in picking up the 5th printing at all? I feel like its too many printings deep to have any value to it.
  18. I'm working towards full runs. I want the complete stories, not just out of context key issues. : D
  19. The whole character is obviously a big what if. I didn't find the plot of the book bad and I thought the art was interesting enough, but I didn't really like most of the writing itself. I thought the Vulture was the best done part of the book.
  20. Got the 1:25 my store claims they didn't get the 1:100 even though they told me they ordered 200 copies. Unfortunately I think they are holding it back to decide price or being as hipster as they are, going to sell it randomly to someone that has no idea of its value.
  21. I think there is no doubt that "restoration" of this nature is more harm than good. It is not aiming to preserve the comic, merely emulate a false grade bump for a cash grab. Im not sure this is the thread to ask such a question but I feel true, professional grade conservation should not be frowned upon. For example, a book with a poor spine being restored to readability instead of having a very good chance of detaching I dont think should be seen as detrimental to value when it is in fact preserving a key factor of a comic. Of course readability doesnt matter to a slabbed book, but if your desire is to keep it raw, shouldn't preserving a books integrity be praised, not frowned on? Regardless what these people are doing is selfish destruction and a lack of respect for these historical objects.
  22. I have to go with FF 72. I honestly dont see why SS4 is as popular as it is. It seems all its value is in the cover art. Im not that fond of heroes fighting heroes, though back in the silver age its more fresh and enjoyable then modern things like civil war. By no means do I think the art is bad or that it isnt an iconic image of the silver age, but I just dont think a heroes iconic cover should be a depiction of them being tricked to fight a fellow hero.
  23. I recently got a new phone but it seems my progress didn't transfer? Has anyone else had the problem or know how to get ones progress on a new phone?
  24. Ahhaha! Yes! So glad to see this casting choice come through. Shoudl be interesting to see who else becomes cast in this movie. Dr. Strange tends to be such a solitary character and I think presents a bit of an interesting challenge to have him interacting with the rest of the world. I suppose villain speculation comes next. I'd personally love to see Nightmare, but I suspect it will be a Mordo/Dormammu combo which also cant be complained about.
  25. I think that's a pretty crude way to describe the art. I genuinely think its much better then the artist prior. She drawn softer I'd say, but she was still every bit a warrior in battle. I'm actually quite tempted to subscribe to it now.
