  1. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but couldn't seem to figure a better option. I'm going to be in the market for a commission, but unlike anything I've been after in the past where I knew what artist I wanted, in this case the artist isn't as important. Last year as a school project my son had to write a short story - he decided on a superhero story, and made it a comic (complete with very bad art). I'd really like to get a commission done of his character as a present for him. So I'm looking for artist suggestions that would do a color commission of an original character (I understand that is sometimes an issue) in a classic superhero style. Now ideally since the artist pedigree isn't that key to this I'd rather not break the bank on this, but I'm happy to spend appropriately for a quality piece and to ensure I'm dealing with a reputable artist. Any suggestions?
  2. I was looking back through the thread, and don't know how I missed this. That is really awesome!!! (thumbs u (thumbs u Thanks - I am eager to see it finished!!! Looks great, who's the artist? I've had a few ideas for Joe commissions but I've never followed through as I haven't found an artist doing commissions that's got GI Joe samples (so I know I'll get something I'm looking for). I do have an Atkins cover on the way, but now looking for something in multiple character 11x17.
  3. Nice Joe page, Recondo is certainly a figure I remember fondly, and Stalker was my first ever Joe - my dad brought it back as a gift after he'd been away for a month on military exercises. He had no idea what he started! Very cool page, congrats!
  4. . You seen 100 GotG covers in Bill's CAF, you seen 101. I just don't want to see 102 - I want the next one. I'm happy to at least have a Valentino page on the way to me, next up on the want list is definitely a cover.
  5. Nice find on the Joes Chip! I sorted through my old personal collection a month ago and matched up the weapons, was some work, but brought back a lot of good memories. Would love to hit a find like that to fill in some of the gaps!
  6. I love the matching frames, and what you've got described as the mounting process sounds perfect. Do you mount things up yourself? I've been thinking of a similar approach to matching frames, but I'd be interested in being able to switch out the art in the future - not regularly, but I've only got room for 5 or 6 frames, so I'd want to frame my best pieces and be able to switch them in the future if/when I upgrade.
  7. While like everyone else I love the Avengers and Arrow cast books, I'm likely most envious for the GotG Bautista book as it fits far better with my collecting focus, and is much closer to the attainable range for me than those other books will ever be. Congrats on all the awesome pickups!!
  8. Great cover, I have to get myself a classic Hawkeye cover some time. I loved this series, even more so than the regular Avengers books of the time.
  9. That's awesome, while I'm a current fan of GotG, the main reason for that is my love the Infinity Gauntlet series. The first massive crossover I read completely when I was younger, and it really started my love for all of the all encompassing crossover series (I love team books, and these things are even better when all the teams get together). I'm incredibly jealous, I have to keep my eyes open for any art from this series in the future. Congrats!!
  10. Yay, it's mine! I love what you're doing with the site, and the feature posts etc. Hopefully this spring I'll have more time to get my collection organized and the relevant parts posted now that hockey coaching season is dying down.
  11. Normally I'm just a lurker in this thread as I rarely have much to share, but I love these recent board pickups, so had to do up a post. Sellers scans as mine would also be cutoff as I have no slab scanner.
  12. Great Man Cave boostergold - While I love the hardcover collection, the item I just had to comment on was the Bionic Six figures still in packaging! I came across mine in the basement last month looking for some other old toys, had all the figures and van and bike - loved playing with those.
  13. I have to agree, it's rare to see a submission where I'd be interested in every single book you got back (well except the PLOD). Nice stuff and congrats!!
  14. To be fair to my wife, it's not just the statues - she's not a fan of the comics or OA either. That said she's not against them in the house as long as it's in my cave and not elsewhere. What she'd have issue with here is the cost, and there's no concealing the cost when FedEx shows up at the door with a large tax/customs import bill on delivery.
