  1. It's been a little bit of time since I've been on the boards. Life got quite busy with pursuing my Master's Degree and my wife starting her own business. I've always enjoyed my time on here! Up for sale is this beautiful Brave and the Bold #28 CGC 5.5 with Off White - White pages. Prices seem all over the map right now on this one. A 6.0 with Cream to Off-White pages just sold on Heritage for $8,300! The price on this one is $5,550. I picked this up from Joey from Investment Grade Key Comics almost 5 years ago right after my wife and I got married. My wife is now due with our first child in July so it's time to move on from this one! It's stayed in a climate controlled environment since I've owned it. It looks fantastic.

I am happy to answer any and all questions and am looking forward to being around more! Hopefully picking up some great books from you all!

    2) Payments - Cashier's Check or Money Order

    3) Shipping is included in the price and will be via Priority Mail Express.

    4) I would like to sell only to US boardies. Under no circumstances are HOS, Probies, or shady type people allowed to purchase.

I have bought quite a lot on these boards so hopefully some of my sellers will vouch for how those transactions have gone. Also please feel free to check out my feedback on eBay under the name "the_hockeycouple." I do have a Kudos thread, it can be found here: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/299432-tivo32s-kudos-thread/

  2.

Love it. One of the few pieces I still don't have.

Went to my own father's garage sale. He had a Hot Wheels track set in the box from 1968/1969 when he was a kid. So he gave it to me.

    Pretty dirty, but pretty cool.

Thanks for the comment! I was born in 1988 so these were all before my time, but I love Star Wars and even as a young kid, from the first time I saw the movies, I was drawn to the Imperial Shuttle from the first time I saw it flying into the new Death Star. And knowing it came from the original owner is really cool.

Hot Wheels were another favorite of mine. I never realized they had made track sets that early! Very cool!

  3. My wife and I are looking to get a little bit more into vintage toy collecting so when I saw this on CraigsList for a very competitive price it was worth the drive to go get it! It's complete and in the box (which is in amazing shape as well). It's an original owner toy which is pretty cool too. The ship itself has some yellowing of the plastic but all in all it's so awesome! It's my first CraigsList score! :headbang:

  4. Just wanted to say a big thank you for taking the time to post pictures and the stories behind them in this thread. My wife and I are in are mid 20's and started collecting comics 3 years ago. It started by watching American Pickers. We love all the same stuff you do but seeing the pictures you post and the stories that go with them make me want to get out there more and more. I'm hoping to get out to Brimfield on Thursday for a day this week. Thanks for what you do! :)

  5. I was lucky enough to find this wooden Dell rack within 20 minutes of me for a bargain, so it was a no-brainer! Granted, it has quite a bit of water damage, stains and peeled veneer (it apparently sat unprotected in a shed for years), but after sprucing it up, it cleaned up nicely! If anyone has any historical information on either of these, I'd be happy to hear about it. I've seen the Felbro rack online before (and from watching AMC's Comic Book Men - there's at least one like it in the Secret Stash). I think the wooden rack is harder to come by, and I've not seen this exact model online before, to my knowledge.

Oooh, do you have before and after pics? What did you do to fix it up this nice and not lose any of the graphics?

  6.

Love those MA flea markets. Those Capt. Aeros are SWEET in any shape!

Haha yes! This was a great flea market to check out. Lots of vendors with great items. Uncovering the golden age goodness was an added bonus. At the price I paid, it was a no brainier, but it's nice to save these books. I don't think they would have lasted much longer and the #13 especially looks great in a Mylar.

Did you go to Brimfield last week? I usually fly out but couldn't make it this year. I usually do well in PA as well.

Unfortunately no. doh! I was hoping to but couldn't find a day to make it work. My wife and I are hoping to go to the July week

  8. I finally get to share some stuff I found with you guys! All found at a local flea market, I like to consider them rescue projects.

This is the JC Penney reprint in really nice shape. I'm thinking it's VF.

Then my two favorite absolute rescues:

    photo%203_zpsvxnuvu22.jpg

Captain Aero #13 from 1944. It's absolutely beat. Cover detached and spine completely split, but it's all there and it's awesome!

And then a coverless, beat copy of Captain Aero #21

  9. So this is kind of a long story, but my wife and I got into comics about two years ago from sports cards. One of my first covers I fell in love with was this variant by Paolo Rivera for Guardians of the Galaxy #5:

    Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_Vol_3_5_Rivera_Variant.jpg

After buying it and reading some discussion on the cover, I realized it was an ode to an artist named Wally Wood. So I kept digging and I discovered the run of Weird Science and Weird Fantasy covers and I'm in the process of putting together a full (very low grade) run of both series. Both Wood's and Feldstein's covers are my absolute favorites:

(This one is so drool worthy, what a BEAUTIFUL copy of a great book. In the James Halperin collection)

    Thanks for your time!

  10. My SA and BA is tight right now, so refocusing on GA. I have bought and sold some and here is what I currently have:

Wow! Awesome shot. I've been searching for Wonder Woman 7 for quite a while now. They are incredibly hard to track down. I'd love to find a nicely presenting low grade raw copy.

  11. When I saw all the awesome Nick Cardy sketches being sold last month on Comic Connect, I knew I wanted to try and get at least one. Many of the sketches I was interested in went above what I was hoping to spend. Did manage to win one and I'm very happy with it:

I'm very glad I didn't spend too much on another sketch because it left me with room this month to pick up this beauty:

  12. Hopefully you all won't mind me sharing these pics with you. My wife and I love collecting comics together, but we also share a love of going antiquing and finding awesome vintage / industrial / antique items. It's now crossed over into finding those items that we can use with our comic collection. These have been our two best finds over the past month. Total cost = $20.

First up is this awesome vintage leather travel photo holder. The leather has a great look to it and is in real nice shape. The plastic covers were a bit dirty but all it took is a little elbow grease and they cleaned right up. Dug through a box of beat up comics and found an issue of Classic X-Men and found these two fun panels and cut 'em up and fit them in and voila - it looks pretty dang good now.

Digging through the dusty basement of an antique store revealed this treasure. I love it. It has a metal back with wood sides and wood door. Some cool metal trim bits on there. No glass but I think that adds to the look. Tossed in one of my favorite books and it gave the whole thing a great post apocalyptic feel!

  13. Here's a stupid question that sort of fits this thread, where do I find top loaders that fit Mylite 2's 725M2? I have magazine top loaders that make them look silly in there because there is so much space on either side of the comic but I bought a pack of the Hot Flips Top Loaders that say they are 7 1/2 inches wide yet it doesn't fit. Someone help!
