  1. Found this cool looking cabinet thing with 15 long, flat drawers sitting outside an antique store with a tag on it that said "for paper collectibles?". It looked to have been a former tool/hardware chest based on some of the junk I found in it, and was in rather rough shape. Here's initial state:

Here's the repurposed finished product...a new paint job and added drawer handles on each drawer with sliders underneath. Lined the drawers with black felt, and filled them with some paper collectibles!

That combines to perfection two of my favorite things - comics and antiques! WELL DONE SIR! :applause:

  2. I started reading through this thread and I instantly remembered everything about my favorite toy as a kid. I earned some money through recycling cans and bottles and saved up enough to go to Toys R Us and buy an action figure. I spent like 20 minutes or so looking until I found...the one. And now I'm going to have to buy another one on eBay. This is an A+ thread!

  3. Hi, relatively new so thought I'd post something. Not a comic room specifically, but this is the corner of my bar. I've used Ikea shelves to host 11 slabs and have another two comics on the bar rack we have.

Woah, those Ikea shelves look great! 3 on each is a perfect amount.

I should just send the rest of my 9.8 candidates in for snail service, by the time they are done it will be a good time to have them.

That's kind of a brilliant idea. It's cheaper and you won't be tempted to sell early. Great stash too! :)

I have no idea why this is a key (I'm new to comics outside of knowing DC and Marvel) but wow, that is an amazing cover and an awesome book! Congrats!

Thanks! Comico was a much beloved indy publisher for us children of the 80s. Primer 2 was THE issue to own from them, and has remained a fan favorite even after 30 years. It was the first appearance of Matt Wagner's Grendel, the character equivalent of, I guess, Wolverine for them. All early Grendel appearances were going for big money back then. But this issue was the crème de la crème. And yes, very cool cover. Black border makes it especially difficult to find without spine tics & creases. Tiny print run as well. All adds up to being a key issue from that era.

Thanks for sharing the info with me! I really appreciate it. I love learning something new like this. I'm a 90's kid, but I can definitely appreciate that book! Congrats on landing a big fish for yourself. Enjoy it! :)

  6. Finally got these two Modern keys tonight after salivating over them for 20-some and 30-some years respectively.... :cloud9::cloud9:

I can appreciate a new user who can choose one book to comment on, instead of choosing all 20.

Haha thanks! Thankfully it's not my first forum rodeo. I just like the people who choose all 20 and then just add "sweet" at the bottom.

    Or "junk" or "drek". :D

Haha I've been lurking here for about a week now and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what "drek" was. I could tell by the context it meant bad, but I actually had to Google it. I felt like I was in middle school again trying to keep up with the newest slang term.
