  1. I have not been active on the boards for a few years, but am thinking about buying and selling again. In terms of showing past buy experiences, is there a way to see which buys and sales I have had? This is to make it easier to deal going from here.

  2. With an actual team being formed comes a structure (members and membership), a name et cetera.

Just some random friends fighting some threat does not make that a team.

They become a team the day they decided "hey, it was nice fighting with you guys - why don't we consider forming a team? Ok, who should be included? Well, Wonder Girl should be a founding member, Robin et cetera..".

in 54 there was no team. Those were events that led to the formation of TT later (somewhere in the time between 54 and 60).

In a sense, 54 is the first part of JLA 9 (where there is a common threat), and 60 is the later part of JLA 9 (where JLA actually is established).

  3. Sure enough, just as promised, the very next issue introduced another new team. Has everyone already stocked up on the first appearance of the Metal Men / Atom team in B&B #55?

If there were hundreds of appearances afterward of the Metal Men/Atom team, then yes, that would be their first appearance.

No it wouldn't be. You don't even know if a team exists at this point, let alone if they have a name or whom the roster consists of. Best watch yourself, Sir. You are making a very strong argument for the 60.

That's where we fundamentally disagree, as I've said repeatedly in this thread. I don't care when they get a name, and I don't care if we know a team exits at the time that they first gather to defeat a bad guy. Their first adventure is their first appearance.

That might be called the first Metal Men / Atom team-up. However, if they later form a team (with a name obviously) then that would have another first appearance.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin might have sold road-side juice together years before Google exited, but Google was not founded until Google actually got founded - regardless of whether those two had worked together earlier or not.

Similarly, some of the people in TT (not even all of people who would later found TT was there) could have worked together earlier than founding TT, but TT was not founded until it was actually founded... which did not happen in 54, but rather happened 'after' that event. Therefore the first appearance of TT logically happened in 60.

By the way, the interesting thing is that 54 is actually the origin of TT. The events that took place in 54 prompted them to form TT. Chronologically having the origin before the foundation is like these things happen in real life. However, in comics we have gotten used to this sequence very often being the other way around. A group is introduced, and later the origin (which obviously happened before the foundation) is explained.

  4. Worldwide or domestic? No way it hits that mark domestically. It looks like a dud in the trailers compared to every other Marvel Studios movie to date. I am basing this on the reaction of my kids and friends' kids - their reaction is meh to this flick which does not bode well.

worldwide, i never speak about the US market as it doesnt matter, all that matters is the actual total a movie makes, versus its budget

    I agree.

It's nonsensical to put much emphasis on US market numbers when world market is of course what matters.

  5. Or maybe because what we've seen actually SUCKS.

    You damn apologists... ;)

    +1

I think this will be the movie that starts the super hero movie bubble to pop.

MARVEL productions will be fine, but future WB/DC films will be hurt.

Actually, my money is on Ant-Man being the first new wave super hero movie to tank. Based on the bad trailers (especially the weak one leading into Avengers AoU), it is the first Marvel movie I am debating going to. My kids do not want to see it, and a couple of comic/sci-fi buddies with kids are planning on skipping it as well. GotG looked cool in the trailers, while Ant-Man looks blah.

I thought the same thing. Ant-man looked lame.

  6. :applause:

    Fantastic!

I just wish DC would tie all these movies together somehow.

    (:

    I agree.

That is the big legacy of Stan and I guess Feige now.... that they have a master plan.

The Marvel cinematic universe just seems to be coming together better and better.

I really hope DC has or gets such a plan. There are signs that it could be ... at least they are spotlighting many heroes that could be part of a bigger picture... Atom is front of the heroes of tomorrow... and could (imo should) quickly go into JLA... maybe (would be cool) JLA in time becomes the uniting element in the DC cinematic universe?

  7. Every time I see this Joker, I have this image in my head

    joker_zpsft67etuz.jpg

And that Croc-hoodie image gives Electro flashbacks.

    amazing_spiderman_2_electro_trailer.jpg

The hoodies arn't part of the costume. They just wear them when not filming so no one can see the full costumes.

If that is so... then what is the logic behind all the LED light inside the hoodie.. so his face can be seen better?

You're confusing the picture of Killer Croc with Electro.

    What do you mean?

  9. Katana has a nicer than Quinn does. Didn't see that coming. ;)

She's a bit skinny.. but still pretty good for my taste hehe..

Thank god she doesn't have a bubble-xxxx like rap music videos seem to have made somewhat popular in some circles over the past 5 years.

  10. I am not sure it was underpriced. The "Slightly Brittle Pages" on the label is a big issue for most of us here.........

    Perhaps...

I missed the PQ. Grading PQ is a little wish/washy, but brittle is generally not great.

Yeah, it surely would make me hesitate, but for the grade it looks underpriced. And not everyone care so much about PQ.

To an extent I agree with you...whilst i am one of the people who greatly considers PQ, the market of people who dont care what the PQ is still is higher than the ones like me who cares about them.

Yes, just for the record, I also care. W or OW are both fine (I'm no WP snob hehe), CR is different and I want a bit of a rebate for that. Brittle is where I might not be interested even if the rebate is considerable. But of course even brittle has a price.

I see no "rebates" for DC SA books with "cr" on the label (or most key Marvel books).

"Slightly Brittle", yes, since that is seldom seen in SA books (and actually is a quantifiable page QUALITY as opposed to "colour").

    -J.

I'm not trying to argue that this is a general rule, but it's a personal preference.

Btw. when Greg Reece about a year ago listed a BB28 they wrote "note that this beautiful comic does not have cream page quality which often mares this issue" (the book had OW pages). So it seems that some people care if they use it as a sales pitch. Anyway, I certainly care.

  12. Maybe the Joker colors are so gaudy and garish because of the decolorization process that seems to be part of the DC movies. If you've seen the MOS colored version you've seen that Supes' suit as well as the remainder of the movie is pretty bright. There's been intentional washing of the colors to present a darker, grittier and presumably more realistic appearance.

Also: these DCCU films are utilizing the same characters that will be in other movies. They can't be all campy and slapstick here and deadpan serious in other flicks. It just won't be cohesive or sensible, and we already have heard about DC's "NO HUMOR or JOKES" mantra regarding these properties vs. Marvel's openly humorous posture.

So it's quite possible there's going to be an entirely different tone and look to the finished product that's not apparent at this stage.

I certainly didn't want them to roll out an incarnation of the Joker that we've already seen a bazillion times and so far they've accomplished that.

    (thumbs u

  13. I don't know. Thee's still room for it to be good. Pics show little - let's hope the acting and the story is there.

I thought GOTG would be great when I saw pics.

Maybe because it was untrotten territory and Marvel usually does really well with that.

DC is more hit and miss.... so I'm more worried about this. All I know is that if they try to make it a funny comics movie like the early batman movies then they have a huge challenge because they have imo never pulled that off before... GOTG is actually the only successful comedy-carried comics movie I an think of. All the other hits like the Avengers, or Dark Night were action-driven with quite a dark overtone at times.

So if they go for light humor (like the early Batmans) or Disneyish family movie like pretty much every Superman movie (imo. no really good Supes movie has been made yet...)... then I'm really worried...

  15. I just hope they stick to the athmosphere of recent Batman moviees (or recent Marvels fo the matter... like Avengers).

If they try to make it too comics-like (as in slap-stick funny) like the previous Batman movies before with mostly ridiculous villains... then I don't think i'll want to even watch it. There is a reason why Marvel are dominating in theatres - because they don't talk down to the audience and try to make super-hero movies like Disney would make a Tom and Jerry. DC needs to learn why Dark Night trilogy is by far the best they have ever done - and continue along that trail.

I just get nervous looking at the Joker's green hair.. reminds me of that Batman movie with Jim Carrey... and the short guy as the Penguin... toe-bending stuff...
