  1. That seems to be the direction the market is headed, if it hasn't reached that point already. this books is rapidly approaching a sadistically tough entry level ...
  2. That seems to be the direction the market is headed, if it hasn't reached that point already. Throw out the entry .5 and the uber high grades, 8.5 higher, in the middle area, looks about 14K a point, less if the book is skanky, and more, if the book has great eye appeal, IMHO Agreed. Entry-level 0.5's are approaching 10K per-ticket, and higher graded copies do not come cheap. In retrospect, I think the 9.2 auctioned off by Heritage was a bargain at $567,625. It was an absolutely beautiful copy. With the HG moderately restored Bat #1 going on ebay for +75K, the blue 9.2 certainly looks like a bargain at 570K
  3. ethically: insane from a moolah POV: genious
  4. You can see the back-cover of Batman #1 in this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BATMAN-1-1940-SPRING-ISSUE-CGC-GRADED-7-5-/151213601504?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item23350872e0 I was referring to the BC of the 4.0 copy in question
  5. Anybody got a BC scan on the Bat1 ? Its getting harder and garder to obtain these from C-link imho.
  6. Did anyone honestly think it would? -J. I am actually amazed at how high it did close. It was a beyond ugly copy and incomplete to boot. +1. It petered out at just under the highest I thought it might go for, though I am a bit surprised it even broke 8k with such poor eye appeal. Looking forward to that 4 on comic link now. Any thoughts on FMV on that one? -J. I would guess in the $35k to $40k but given how high prices have been, maybe I am low That would be a smoking deal at those prices, I know for a fact certain buyers going to bid in the 55K area. 14K a point, with better eye appeal is the current market, IMHO Hmmm ... at 44 K, 12 days to go. I am already blown out of the water by bigger whales. My thrill bid didnt last long ...

  8. If I had the mullah I would choose: 1. Bat 1 2. Bat 1 3. Bat 1 4. Bat 1 5. Bat 1
  9. of course. He's currently not sure how many coke zeros he's already drank in the big easy Coke Zero - isnt it filled with artificial sweetener ... ? aspartame and acesulfame potassium Yummers. Do me a favour: Dont do this aspartame thing. Ordinary sugar will do it for you just fine. ASpartame =
  10. I've said many times that from a content perspective, Batman #1 has no peers. The historical significance of Action Comics #1 trumps it, but Batman #1 has the best collection of content you'll ever find in a Golden Age comic book. *1st Batman solo book. *1st app. of the Joker. *1st app. of Catwoman. *Classic cover. *Final Pre-Robin Tec story. *2nd app. of Hugo Strange (made famous in Arkham City). *3rd app. of Robin. *Origin of Batman reprinted. When you add the fact that Christopher Nolan used the two Joker stories from the book to help derive his interpretation of Heath Ledger's Joker, you're adding a modern, extremely relevant, extremely cool factor into the mix. It's tough to top all that. What he said ...

  12. Well if someone feel they need an affordable 'blue chip' Bat #1, complete with a frontcover. 10K could very well be the entry level figure for the ground floor ... Pepole always talk about first Joker. But hey guys dont forget Bat 1 has first Catwoman as well. She is a great character. Michelle Pfeiffer did her in one of Burtons movies: fantastic ...
  13. It won't be sniffing my 12K regions. Well one never knows : this particular book is the poor man's tec 27 More like "moderately well-to-do man's" Tec 27. With a low grade copy such as this, there's always the potential to see bids from collectors who view this as their holy grail comic book, especially since Tec #27 is out of most people's price ranges. But no "poor man" is getting close to a Batman #1, the prices are exceedingly strong. Touché gentlemen. Bat 1 surely is the rich man's tec 27

  15. Hmm .... this particular .5 copy it could shiff 12Kish regions. Just a poor mans guesstimate ....
  16. When will my signed, numbered slipcase edition of this book arive. Heck, I pre-paid ...
  17. They have been goin north for what seems like an eternity. Is there a pre-robin bubble in the makings? if so, when will it burst?
  18. Bill loves it more . In fact, I think of Bill everytime I see a Bat 1. And I get all warm and fuzzy everytime I see a Batman #1 The Joker as a character is disturbingly insane: he seems to be a strange mix of: oldstyle missisippi riverboat gambler, psychopath, sociopath, transvestite, schizophrenic, terrorist, anarchist, anti-christ. I guess that why the Joker across decades seem to excercise a certain magnetism so that creative heads (like Nolan) keep returning back to him ...
  19. In terms of historical significance, Tec #33 easily eclipses Tec #29, 31, 35 and all others sans 27. I think the cover is nearly as cool as any other Pre-Robin out there, but obviously it is the origin that makes it special. I love the combination of the Tec #34 splash artwork with the reprinted origin story from Tec #33 found in Batman #1. The comparison between the Joker's first appearance and the Green Goblin's though, is not equivalent. Unlike Batman, Spiderman does not have a clear-cut arch nemesis. The Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Venom can all be considered, as all have been the Spidey villain at various points in time. The Joker has always been Batman's arch nemesis with no close second. Batman #1 would sell itself without the Joker even being present. Superman #1 is the third most valuable book in the hobby, and outside of a brief, unnamed cameo of "The Kents", there are no notable first appearances of any kind in Superman #1. None of Spiderman's villains are as big in the Marvel Universe as the Joker is in the DC Universe. So the combination of factors: 1st Batman solo book, 1st app. of the Joker, 1st app. of Catwoman, last Pre-Robin Tec story, classic cover, etc. really drive Batman #1 to a special place. While there are a number of GA books that are currently treasured for factors the likes of rarity, cool covers, etc. -- I believe a day will come when collectors look at all of the content Batman #1 has to over and in turn, value it even more so for reasons beyond the "No. 1" on the cover. (thumbs u well said ! all things considered Bat1 seem to "outshine" Supe1 ... even when you consider the rarity of supe1
  20. This subject has come up before. I have a few thoughts on it. While rarity no doubt can play a factor in driving up the prices of certain GA books, a book does not need to be incredibly rare by GA standards to maintain an extremely high value, with the potential to trend upwards. Lets compare Batman #1 to Action #7 for instance. Both are incredibly desirable, but Action #7 is considerably more rare. Content for content, there is no competition: Batman #1 1st app. of the Joker. 1st app. of Catwoman. 2nd app. of the Joker. 2nd app. of Hugo Strange. 3rd app. of Robin. Last Pre-Robin Tec story. Action Comics #7 7th app. of Superman. Circus story. One book's content was used as reference material by Christopher Nolan for one of the most successful films in the history of modern cinema, the latter sports a really cool cover. Adding my .02. I think the Joker is DC's third biggest character behind Supes and Bats. I find this to be my stance on the Jokester as well +1
  21. VERY nice book Holy sh .... At that grade we're talking serious dough
