  1. I just received this message from user abcwaldie

Call ebay tell them to pay for item. Walter mervin dieter ps i own 60%of ebay.

lol Does this mean I'm not getting paid?

Not to laugh at your misery, but I have to admit that was funny as hell.

Did you respond to this stupidity? And if so, what was their response?

If they left a phone message, could you hear a Lakers game in the background?

  2. I have a copy of "How to Utilize Obnoxiously Blue Eyes to Shoot Invisible Laser Beams That Deflate Footballs by Two PSI".

    I don't recommend it.

I'd put up the takeit but yours is either a second or third print.

The rare first print was titled "How to Utilize Obnoxiously Blue Eyes to Shoot Invisible Laser Beams That Deflate Footballs by One Half to Two PSI". The title was changed after late results from a study were received. There was also a set of schematics in the back showing the football's vulnerable spots and detailing the PSI loss for each spot.

Check the back of your book you see if there are remnants of pages having been cut out by the publisher before distribution. If so, you have the 2nd print. The even less desirable 3rd printing shows no schematic remnants.

So I sold NFL QB Tom Brady a second print? This is important information to ponder. I must retreat to my mountain for contemplation.

  3. I nominate Thomas Brady of Brookline, Mass., for HOS. He's known on the boards as 18-1mybutt and prettyboysteroid.

There have been numerous rules violations.

    1. First, on August 13, 2014, he put up on I take it on my mixed sale of videos "Dude, Where's My Car", "Reefer Madness", "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and "How to Cheat on a Super Model like a Champ and Totally, Like, Get Away With It, Dude." Payment was never made, but I got tickets to some NFL game in February 2015 because "dude, we both know this is going to happen."

    2. Second, on August 24, 2014, he threw up on I take it on New Mutants 98, proclaiming, "Dude, we both know they are going to cast a vacant, hit-and-miss, pretty boy attached to a super hottie for this role, and, not to give anything away, but remember my name b----." When Ryan Reynolds was cast instead he couldn't pay because he was using his cash to "make his agent disappear, like Sons of Anarchy disappear." He also wondered why my shipment didn't include the "trial run version", "Deadpool" starring Clint Eastwood.

    3. Lastly, on December 13, 2014, he put up an I-take it on my sale of two super rare flea market finds entitled "How to Utilize Obnoxiously Blue Eyes to Shoot Invisible Laser Beams That Deflate Footballs by Two PSI", "How Two Comes from 1+1", "PSI Miami", "How Presidents BS Their Way Through Press Conferences" and "Cmon Dude, You Don't Have to Actually Have to Be a President for the Last Book to Work for You, Give Me Strength Lord, Give Me Strength."

I have yet to receive payment despite numerous pms as well as emails to his personal account "youreonlyopenifisaysob----@hotmail.com". I sent the books anyway because all of his kudos was positive. Was that a mistake?

Anyhoo, I think this is more than enough for the HOS. Comes up short for the PL, obviously.

  4. Does anyone know of a dan dillon aka da_dillo on eBay.

Zero feedback ID, apparently so new to ebay he registered the day he won my book.

email provided to ebay maasddsa@aol.com is a dead end.

I fear this is probably yet another non-paying bidder---I'm going to have to adjust my eBay settings so nobody with less then 5 can bid. Or maybe even higher.

This is becoming a real problem :sorry:

I had one of those recently. I assumed BS was forthcoming, but everything went smooth. They opened an account and bought my somewhat high priced item on the same day, which is usually red flag central.

    But I got lucky...so far...

  5. It's like going out for a tank of gas because you need to get to work in the morning...getting talked into a full frame-off restoration...and then debating the pros and cons of walnut media blasting for the next six months. :D

Or stopping for gas, getting abducted by four strippers, and being held hostage for five days. And then not reporting it to the police. Well, maybe not that bad. lol

"Abducted" by strippers? Please no, get your hands of me, I'm not meat, I have feelings...ahh...

  6. No more screwing around. One hour for payment. Two days for shipment. Immediate hall of shame induction even in cases of force majeure.

Not a chance! I want same day shipping. If Amazon can do it, so can you!

I want after hours delivery so I don't have to go to the post office on saturday.

I want delivery by porn star

    :acclaim:

    We are finally getting somewhere

  7. The 30 day wait period is miserably oppressive for sellers.

We've been discussing in the CG thread about lowering it so sellers aren't held hostage waiting that long before they can nominate a would-be buyer and move on and sell their book.

A few months ago a buyer agreed to buy a book from me. Then the days started to go by. Then the "Paypal is giving me fits" pms started. Then several I need a few more days pms were sent. Then others started reporting canceled paypal payments from the same buyer. Then there was an e-check along with an email stating "it might not work". I canceled the deal and sold to someone else after at about 15 days, because I was sane and wanted nothing to do with the buyer.

Then there was some discussion whether my selling to someone else was PL worthy because it was before 30 days.

You can guess who the proposed buyer was. Rhymes with Dudmuck. I felt bad about how it went down, but my decision clearly was right on.

I agree that in these circumstances I want the buyer to go away.

  8. He offered me the book by pm 12-19 at 10 p.m. I politely declined. Within a day or two it was posted for the boards as a whole.

Of course, as usual, there's a detail that confuses things.

The offer was for "Incredible Hulk 181 CGC 9.0 OW/W Pages"

Not sure why the page quality was different. Could've just been an oversight.

  9. Here's the great thing about being able to sell on these boards. We can see patterns of bad behavior and take care of it before it becomes a problem. In many other sales platforms they don't have that luxury. Why is it that we have to be so strict as to who can and can't be called out and shunned for trying to rip off people in this small community? Why must we have to WAIT until someone gets truly ripped off until we deem someone a problem?

Board memories are often faulty, when they work, it's usually an exaggerated version of the truth...someone said something, someone repeats it & then it quickly becomes truth.

What does the following statement mean to you? You responded to it indirectly while quoting it here

This guy has had a shady history almost since day 1. He's been nominated for the PL more than once ( please correct me if I'm wrong ).

Someone made a lazy damning statement saying "he's been nominated for the PL more than once" then asked others to fact check him.

So...has he ever been nominated to the PL? How many times? By who? Was it addressed? Was it successful (ie - added)

The answer is clearly - who cares for most people. (shrug)

Minutes later, this exchange at the end of a larger string. Now with urgency...

With all due respect, why isnt CGCboy/Hustruck in the HOS and why isn't there a poll back up? I saw a majority vote heavily in favor of having him in the HOS?

    Agreed.

That is the lynch mob mentality in action, since we're talking about patterns. Some people just don't care about the truth when a clearly shady guy is on the path to HOS.

If people aren't going to fact check themselves & those agreeing with him don't care about the truth - the intent of the list is for it to remain respected by as many in the community as possible. An HOS full of bad dad & racist joke tellers will still get service here.

My fault. He's totally innocent...and has always been so. Clearly I follow groupthink, please accept my sincere apologies.

    :eyeroll:

I know dude. Earlier I thought I sat on my remote, but it was my pitchfork. Mob duty is literally a pain in the arse

  10. Branget: (So you know it is for you without quoting 7 quotes)

How would you ever know why someone lies or what goes on in their heads? By that standard, very few people would be guilty. You have to go by their actions and statements.

. I also do not see any lies to complete a sale.

Other than, hey, I have a book.

  11. Agreed. I honestly thought you were making these arguments to keep the integrity of the lists intact. That is something that I could respect, even though I disagree with your reasoning. Now it appears you are grasping at straws, arguing just to argue, or completely unwilling or unable to see what is right in front of you.

I am still arguing for the integrity.

I see a liar. I see a shady seller with bad business practices, poor ethics, cutting corners with no experience.

What I don't see is a thief which is what I reserve the HOS for. I disagree that if he was smarter he would steal. I think if he was smarter he would have better business practices and not feel the pressure to cover his for bad decisions.

Why is it less of a transgression to lie in a deal to cover your for bad decisions than it is to lie in a deal to make money?

They are both selfish, dishonest, fraudulent actions. Whether it's to put money in your pocket or to prevent losing money from your pocket it's a choice he made to lie and to cheat.

He has poor business practices, so he makes up for it by lying to the people he contracts to deal with, even when there's no money to be made. Do you think adding in the opportunity to make money on top of that will provide MORE or LESS temptation for him to act in the same manner? He's already lied and cheated for nothing. Add cash incentive on top and which way do you see it going?

That's a pretty big personality revelation you want to discount because he didn't make off with cash at the end.

I guess we can't agree. Motivation and intent are very big concepts for me.

If he was motivated to lie by some big potential payday it might make more sense.

I find it far more revealing that he was willing to destroy any and all personal integrity for almost nothing or to prevent himself from losing a few hundred dollars (as he seems to have done here)?

The fact that he did it for almost nothing makes him far more dangerous in a transaction than someone who only folded after enough cash was waved in their face. Someone who would lie for nothing would lie for anything.

    That's a pretty big concept.

    Ok. Now I'm enjoying this.

I disagree. I think one who lies for self preservation is not the same a someone who lies to harm someone else. I do not think it is safe to assume he would cross that line. This is very important to me in discussions like this.

But all of these board shenanigans have caused great anxiety, consternation and inconvenience at the very least, tying up buyers/sellers time and money as they entered into deals that were not carried out in good faith.

  12. Continually lying to cover his . I don't see continually lying to rip someone off. The former is PL and the latter is HOS.

Lying in the middle of a business transaction is fraud. One time is one time too many.

Continually lying in the middle and after a business transaction is even worse, but irrelevant, given that the initial fraud is enough to show inability to deal in a fair and honest manner.

    Fraud for what gain?

    Doesn't matter.

Fraud doesn't require that the fraudster is smart enough to actually gain something. It only requires that he commit the fraud and that the fraud be committed against someone and that someone winds up without exactly what he bargained for in the deal. He may have plotted some personal gain, he may have assumed he was going to make something that no one else can see. The bottom line is, he made a deal, and in order to alter that deal he lied to alter the terms, making the fraud crystal clear.

He could have been honest and maintained some type of ethical business behavior, but he didn't. He chose the dark path of deception.

There are plenty of stupid criminals and low-IQ fraudsters out there.

They don't have to be smart about it or good at it to get punished for it.

A penny or a pound, it matters not when terpitude is on parade.

For me there is the difference between the PL and the HOS. If his plan was never to rip someone off then how can that not play a part?

Did 4comix get his book at the terms agreed upon?

    Why didn't he?

Which is why he should remain on the PL until he makes restitution.

But there is no basis for dealing with him in good faith, on this matter or any other, because there is no admission of total responsibility for what has transpired, repeatedly. For someone to move ahead with a transaction now, like on a high priced Hulk 181, would be beyond silly.

  13. Leave politics in the water cooler please

I don't think mentioning Obama's name as part of a point about the mechanics of voting is political conversation, it's just a means to make a point.

trying to be sarcastic...hence 'water cooler' comment

    Ok, no biggie :)
