  1. What is everyones opinion on the future value of these rarer later printings? While I agree that they are rarer and that can potentially mean more value. Isnt really a small number of completists who would want them all ?
  2. How can you tell if the 1980's Batman's are reprints or not? What is everyones opinion on the future value of these rarer later printings of DC comics? While I agree that they are rarer and that can potentially mean more value. Isnt really a small number of completists who would want them all ? In case anyone is interested in trading etc I have extra Superman #75 2nd printings
  3. So looking for everyones opinion on why Harley Quinn books are so hot. I get they are 20 years old and everyone wants early appearances but what has caused this spike in demand this year and record sales prices? Does everyone think Harley Quinn should be the most valuable new character of the 1990's ?
  4. Do you remember back for decades when people said 1970`s comics could never be valuable - dealers like Metropolis wouldnt even carry a book with a 20 cent cover price. Books were considered too common. But as time goes by the real high grade books did not survive and demand and inflation has slowly driven up prices of hundreds and hundreds of comics. The same could be said for 1980`s for sure and yes definitely its worse because at that time people were truly saving them brand new and bagging and boarding them. But if there is no chance for their future collectability there would not be such a `copper `age boom as is happening now. More and more 1980 comics are becoming HOT and more and more key issues are hitting the 50.00 or more mark which is impressive for common books that used to cost only 60 cents. So my original idea is that if you could start hoarding not just any 80`s books but the best of the best key books, first appearances etc that you would have something definitely worth investing in the long run. Any thoughts
  5. This brings up the point of whether it could be done by stashing hoards of say 1980's key books now while they are cheap and if you sit long enough some of them will eventually "take off".
  6. Someone had told me that Life Of Archie #23 only had a scary cover but had no related story inside - not sure if its true
  7. Hepcat - thats a great point - and that is something i actually do to a point is compare cgc census and price guide data to "compare" books but the reality is that the higher the price tag in the guide the more "common" books appear to be in the cgc as money drives copies out on the market there are lots of books from that same month that only guide for $50.00 while af 15 guides for $175,000.00
  8. very cool i appreciate the blunt honesty so with a key book like Gene Autry #1 which has been falling for a few years now in top high grade condition where do you guys predict it could be 10 or 20 years from now do you believe that just 1 sale is enough for the "guide" to consider the value to stay strong? or is the general overview of the western market still going to "drop" the guides accepted value of the most expensive key western books thanks
  9. I have had numerous debates with collectors about the "popularity" of western comics. So I thought I would ask here and get some opinions from those who care about this genre. Is the number of collectors dropping year to year? Is this going to affect the value of western comics long term? will prices stabilize due to their rarity and historic importance? or will this modern superhero age continue to ignore the western classics ? will the average age of the western collector keep rising ? look forward to hearing your comments thanks
  10. Being the most valuable and collected comic of the silver age knowing the exact data to me is fascinating. I do think 10,000 is still likely on the low side but of course no way to know. I did hear of a guy in the 1980's who claimed to have a long box full of either AF 15 or ASM #1 so perhaps 300 copies of the same comic Back when they were fairly affordable its possible to believe a feat could be done over the years. Especially if you started in the 1970's. Even know you get how many chances a week to buy a copy of those 2 key spider-man books. I always wonder if this book is truly more common than most OR is it just that more copies have surfaced on the market simply because the money attracts more sellers
  11. Sure you can link to the video As a dealer and a speculator there is overlap and some times great decisions are made and some times there are bad ones. We all have purchases we regret later. But we only regret the ones that dont work out the rest of the time we all say "gosh i wish i bought more of those" I had great success with Sex #1 and East Of West #1 and Day Men #1 this year. But I overdid it along with many others and bought too many Ten Grand, Jupiters Legacy, Nowhere Men.
  12. I always like to hear comments from other comic fans Sorry to hear you dont agree with all my posts or picks but I'd be happy to hear what you dont agree with OR if you think I have missed something The goal is for the Hot Comics chart to be as accurate as possible I write articles for Invest Comics to help inform comic collectors but it is NOT my website so I have nothing to do with asking for donations to the site. thanks
  13. It is believed the print run might have been about 125,000 copies in 1962 Over 2,000 copies graded by CGC which is more than any other comic pre-1965 showing that many copies were saved and hoarded over the years It therefore might be the most common of all Marvel silver age early key books How many really exist in the world? I think the number is likely at least 10,000 copies left. That is really a guess. But assuming that 1/5 copies have been graded I think is possible. There is no reason to assume that the majority of all known copies have been graded. At the low end I would say I cant see there possibly being less than 5,000 total copies and really would not be surprised if there were up to 30,000 copies out there as there are a ton of low grade copies that have survived. Love discussing this stuff!! http://cgcforum.gpanalysis.com/cgcforum_thread.asp?pagenumber=392&ThreadID=2486186&forumID=16&threadName=Amazing+Fantasy+%2315+Club
  14. Print run of Batman Adventures #12 will not be too high but is likely somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 - today that would be very impressive but back then it was not and the comic did not make the top 100 of the month. All issues of this Batman kids series had lower orders but they are not rare - just "rarer" than most popular titles of the early and mid 90s
  15. My weekly video picks of comics most likely to sell out and go up in value !
  16. HI guys, well thats my video actually. The reason for filming it really was to show the inventory of my comic book store back issues for insurance purposes and proof of ownership. As you know some books do well over time and some don't. I have some books I definitely have too many of but you can't turn back the clock . I sold over 200 copies of East of West #1 and then had about 50 left. Speaking of dealers that speculate on a lot of hot books I do know speculators that buy up to 3,000 copies of new Marvel comics to get the variant covers. That was just my particular inventory at the time Many books are now gone and many new books have replaced them. I only sell new comics due to health reasons (old comics are musty) now which is why all the comics are from the last 18 months though I prefer older comics Always like to hear peoples input on comic collections.
  17. Here are all the Image new ongoing series #1 issues of the past 4 months Sales are pretty consistent over most of them and they are now all sell outs It can be debated that Zero is the rarest as there is only 8,000 copies of each cover Zero #1 - 24,000 copies - 3 covers Rat Queens #1 25,000 copies - 1 cover Sidekick #1 27,000 copies - 2 covers Satellite Sam #1 32,000 copies - 1 cover Sheltered #1 19,000 copies - 1 cover Ghosted #1 17,000 copies - 1 cover Bounce #1 24,000 copies - 1 cover Chin Music #1 22,000 copies - 1 cover Sex Criminals #1 46,000 copies - 1 cover Lazarus #1 48,000 - 1 cover Ten Grand #1 57,000 - 2 covers East of west #1 49,000 - 1 cover Sex #1 23,000 - 1 cover Back in 2012 Image comics could actually gain in sales that wont happen now if readership grows on a title then back issues prices go up if all these new image titles don't grow in readership than the #1's are never gonna be worth much Comic sales need to grow or stay consistent and not continually drop month to month. Lets analyze some of the recent Image titles. Great Pacific #9 4,700 an ongoing that just isnt going anywhere those sales are really weak for a major publisher Bounce #1 was 24,000 and #4 is 9,000 Sheltered #1 19,000 and #2 is only 9,000 Ghosted #1 17,000 and #2 is 10,000 no wonder they stated both issues sold out cause nobody ordered them Chin Music #1 22,000 and #2 was 14,000 notice the trend that most #2's drop by about 40% that is a huge drop need to stablize by issue #3 or these titles are in trouble Sex #1 was 23,000 and now at #6 its at 14,000 - that title has done quite well !! sex has only lost about 40% by issue #6 thats actually more popular than most Ten Grand #1 57,000 and #4 is at 19,000 thats a drop of 60% by issue #4 not a good sign though of course it started way too high Satellite Sam #1 32,000 and now #2 20,000 - again about 40% drop instantly Lazarus #1 was 48,000 down to #3 24,000 - 50% by #3 East of West #1 49,000 to #5 36,000 that is super strong - barely lost any readers in 5 issues Saga #1 37,000 and #13 is 55,000 - A GAIN OF 50 %%% SUPER HOT !

  19. 25,000 is not large but it helped it sell out immediately and more impressive the print run is way way larger than Wiebe's last ongoing series Peter Panzerfaust which has NEVER had a print run that high even after 14 issues
  20. Amazing new series Find reviews and articles about the series online Some sellers are already asking up to $99.99 for #1 due to super small print run
