Eerie 54, VF+ 8.5, Another very cool Sanjulian cover with a tough black border. These issues in the 50s are a lull in the run for availability (perhaps due to poor sales) and are exceptionally tough in high grade due to the black covers. This copy comes from the "Plus Tax" collection (although it doesn't have the stamp) that I purchased years ago, all of which were very clean and fresh. $50 Sold to JustJimN

Eerie 55, VF+ 8.5, Another tough black cover, very difficult in high grade. This copy comes from another collection that was very pretty, of which I only snagged a few dozen issues. My personal copy is only slightly better than this. Who doesn't love Ken Kelly for the cover art? $50 Sold to JustJimN

Jeff Dee's work is my favorite of the bunch. The linework was just more refined, reminded me of Neal Adams and John Byrne in comics at the time. The story about what happened to all his original art drives me crazy. Kind of wish I'd participated in his recreations on kickstarter a few years back. The trouble for me was that his recreations had lost something from the originals. As an artist, I've experienced the same phenomena. It's ridiculously difficult to draw something exactly the same way twice, even if it's minutes apart, let alone years. It changes each time you draw it- usually, not for the better. There's often something special that the original idea had that is lost in successive iterations.

Starfield Is Coming
Randall Dowling replied to Randall Dowling's topic in CGC Video Games General Discussion
I completely agree. They say they're going to go full steam on the next Elder Scrolls after this release but 11 years is a very long time between games. -

I'll have to buy a new console as I haven't bought one since the Xbox 360! -
Nice work, SA! You've put together a very nice collection of those books in a relatively short period of time.

When Starfield comes out, it's going to cause a sizable drop in global productivity for days if not weeks. Brace yourselves.

By far, my favorite convention. Highly recommended!

Escape to Adventure, Male & Wildcat Adventures & Undergrounds
Randall Dowling replied to Kramerica's topic in Comic Magazines
Glad to help. Incidentally, the MA mags are where a lot of artists landed because they were more steady work and paid better than comics. I'm sure you noticed the name on the Escape to Adventure. He did a lot of work for those magazines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syd_Shores -
Escape to Adventure, Male & Wildcat Adventures & Undergrounds
Randall Dowling replied to Kramerica's topic in Comic Magazines
The most valuable of the bunch is probably the Wildcat. While some of the MAM mags are particularly scarce, I've never seen one (even very high grade books) sell for more than $1k. While I don't recall seeing that Escape to Adventure for sale before, the Wildcat comes up fairly often and is usually in the $100-$300 range at auction. The 1969 issue of Male is common and usually sells for $20-$50. Hope that helps. -

Is that the first appearance of Thor?? -
We always called it "The Overpriced Street Guide" growing up. Which was cute for a little while but by the 80s, had lost it's novelty as comics were going for more and more money. It also had become an invaluable reference both for the color picture section but also for the dealer listings and notes for significant books. We would take car trips across the US in the summers and if we were lucky, we managed to talk our parents into letting us visit the LCS when we were close by. Without Overstreet, that would have been nearly impossible.
