This is similar to how MyComicShop has a section called "Vintage Paper" that has Pulps, digests, paperbacks, men's mags, detective mags, etc., all in one place.

Mike, are you thinking a sub-forum in the "Comics Market - Forum Only Selling Area"? As in, alongside "mixed", "CA/MA", "GA/SA/BA", etc.? If so, I think that could work quite well. I always assumed it would be a subforum of the pulp forum, kind of like the original art forum. But I'm fine in either case.

Record Magazine Prices - Throw out your Overstreet Guide!
Randall Dowling replied to bounty_coder's topic in Comic Magazines
Just came across this. 130 point says accepted offer was $1600. If it actually grades above 9.4, that may have been a good deal. -
Bob Beerbohm, June 17, 1952 - Mar. 27, 2024
Randall Dowling replied to Cat-Man_America's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I purchased a couple dozen books from Bob through his catalogs in the late 80s/early 90s. Talked to him on the phone a couple of times and he was very friendly and glad to talk comics. One of the great early comic book dealers that stayed with it while many moved on to other pursuits in life. Thanks for the memories, Bob. -
Staple wear question
Randall Dowling replied to N e r V's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I see this commonly on books that have been pressed multiple times. It puts wear on the staples if the person doing the work doesn't know how to address it. I think there are only a handful of people doing pressing that can execute without putting this wear on the staples. I wouldn't grade it 9.4 with that wear, personally. 9.0 at best. -

I agree, it doesn't look like George Gross to me. I have quite a bit of his covers and, while there are elements that are reminiscent of his work (as you alluded), the brush work and shading looks wrong to me. Then again, I could be wrong. Even with my original art for Wanton by Night, which is attributed to Gross (but not signed), I'm not 100% convinced is his work. (Posted before but I don't mind an excuse to post it again).

Those are gorgeous copies, as usual, sir!

That copy of The Mighty Blockhead was the first vintage paperback I ever purchased around 35 years ago. I was so excited about purchasing this book from the 40s (even in 1989!). Ten years later, I discovered that it originally had a dust jacket which my copy was missing. Always meant to grab a copy with the jacket but still haven't gotten around to it. Fun to see it again. FYI, Frank Gruber is always an easy read and that's a fun little story inside.

Still looking for one of those myself, Ryan. That's gotta be the toughest of those early L.B. Cole Croydons. Still kicking myself for not going strong the last time I saw a copy come up.
