Ooh, I was excited to get four packages today! No big books, a couple of Adventure Time 1A (which I am irrationally determined to get 100 copies of), and two packages from boardies. And with that much information, you can already see where this is going. The ebay package contained...a copy of Adventure Time 1C, not 1A. Strike one. The second package, I knew this one was a gamble. A comic dealer selling on Amazon. I have tried buying this comic on Amazon before and gotten a graphic novel. ANd what did I get? Adventure Time 1 Jazware edition, that originally came in a blister pack with Finn and Jake action figures. Another $5 comic. So both of those are getting returned. I saved the packages from @RickHigh and @arexcrooke for last. Those were good palate cleansers as I got just what I bought: nice looking comics properly packaged and quickly shipped. Man, I just wish I could get all my collector fixes here. Such a better experience. Thanks, Rick and Arex.

I'll take it. Ugh, overspent to much this weekend.

I tapped out with my two weird war tales and the sea devils grey tone cover. I was happy with their prices and I got outbid on most else, including two more weird war tales that crossed my high bid threshold. Plus, I had items for sale and wanted to get a check to go with my comics. And every time I settle before the auction is over, especially when using seller’s credit, I get my books really fast.

Well, the Ross cover is a beautiful cover. It's lovingly executed. I would like to say it was hard to part with mine, but the profit margins are cray cray right now and that money is going into landscaping. I love gardening as much as I do comics, so it was an easy decision.

I contributed to the problem. Once I saw what the Ross variants were fetching on eBay, I put both of my copies up for sale and sold them within hours.

IH 181 might not be the best point of comparison for “generic” book fmv.

It can be both, no? Why pick just one to mark this milestone when you can make a cynical choice targeting collectors?

I think bids are weak this time, buyers market. Maybe a lot of the bigger spenders have been at cons?

I bought two copies of the Ross cover directly from his site. Completists who think they need all 80 might want to reconsider their collecting habits. It’s up to them to react to this kind of thing. But maybe they find the chase fun? I can understand the editorial dilemma of paying homage to iconic covers, changing art styles, famed runs by an artist, all the important characters, the immense history, the cultural import. You can’t do that for a title like this one on a single cover.
