  1. mods notified. reason: mystery box mentioned in post Reported. Reason: you said ******* *** in a post.
  2. There's a hole in this story somewhere. Get it...hole...donut. Sigh For what it's worth (and opinions are worth what you pay for them), I scroll on past books without a grade, no matter what I know about the person. I get people's point of view about pricing the book. My point of view differs slightly: prices are pegged to perceived grade and quality of the book. To each his own. You buy your books, I'll buy mine. Wait...you buy my books, and I'll buy yours.
  3. Jim's good people, it's that simple. Thanks for the gorgeous Nick Fury and that HOS 92. Both of them look better than their grade.
  4. Yeah wish I had just asked in a PM. we all know these two are above board, even though Roy probably needs a haircut.
  5. No problem but I wonder why you are selling through him and not just doing it yourself? Because then I don't have to deal with the eBay riff raff. Yeah, Iwas just curious. If there are any two sellers that I'd be comfortable buying high dollar books from, it'd be these two.
  6. I had an exceedingly pleasant transaction with good ol' Uncle Galactus. He didn't consume my home world. I'm not exiled from the greater cosmos, lingering on just one plan....Oh wait, I am kinda stuck on earth. But since I am stuck on earth, I'm glad that I can sell comics to good people--err, deific entities?-- like Uncle Galactus here.
  7. I guess it's a selling partnership? Vintage Comics Epic Peach epic peach 2 Buying and selling together, I guess?
  8. Sorry, I was a cranky pants. I knew when I posted that I wasn't terribly clear. Generally, I'm not one to go chaffing chaps, which is also open to interpretation.
  9. Actually, I think I made the mistake of writing more than two sentences, which is deadly in these parts. I don't teach reading comprehension to adults, so I'll leave things at whatever murky point they're at.
  10. None. What streets you been walkin down? Makes perfect sense though. I love me some Scar Jo and the Avengers movies were entertaining, so I am definitely going to go buy the first appearance of Black Widow. I don't read comics at all, but it will be cool to own!... That way when I have parties I can take it out and show people and be like: "look, this is the first appearance of the character that Scar Jo (I do love her) played in Avengers in a comic book!" Then people will be like; "wow, we don't read comics either but that is really cool and a definite wise use of your money because even though no one reads comics anymore this is definitely a good investment! You are so smart!" And I will be like "word." Well, that's a misnomer. Sarcasm that follows missing the point and misreading someone's statement is kind of a fail.
  11. It is a terribly ugly book. But when I think of characters that cross generations and have a large number of fans outside comic hobbyists, I think: Wolverine, Punisher, Deadpool, Harley Quinn. Obviously, I'm ignoring all the Marvel "bigs." Remember when Wolverine was in every single damn comic on the shelves? That's been Deadpool for a while now. And Punisher was all over the place. They are massively popular. How many people do you see on the street wearing Punisher shirts? I think loads of people who aren't comic collectors and hardly comic readers love those characters. And I think those first appearances will retain and increase in value. As to the Marvel bigs, I think there are many more fans interested in owning Wolverine's first comic appearance than, say, Spidey's. And yes, this is utter conjecture on my part.
  12. Barton doesn't just sell comics. He does more than that. He fulfills dreams. For me, What If? and the Fantastic Four. He ships fast, packages well, and is a consummate collector of fine comics.
  13. Can someone remind me why I have this guy on ignore? What was he up to? http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8921406&fpart=1
  14. Ya, I sent a PM. The price seemed to good, but someone bit before I did. If it's legit, it's a great deal.
  15. Flashbacks from a 43-year-old American male. When Daredevil 181 hit the stands in 1982, I was just ten years old. At that time, I was still plucking random comics off the spinner at Reeves Sain Drug Store. It'd be a couple of years before I discovered Miller's run on Daredevil. That meant that I was at the sweet age of 12 and 13, reading backwards into Daredevil. Keep in mind that a rash of ninja movies hit the silver screen in the 80s, especially in the early 80s. Hollywood would hit paydirt with the karate kid, an american, homogenized, teen-age refinement of the asian action flick. As a note, Jackie Chain released Dragon Lord in 1982. Myself, I bought throwing stars and knives from the nearest mall.Travis, Eric, and I would hurl them at plywood boards. Plus, I was approaching thirteen. Hormones and crushes were around the bend. So I was primed and ready for Miller's Daredevil in lots of ways. The dynamic covers that took the hero of Hell's Kitchen and pitted him against an organized ninja clan and the uber-assassin, former lover Elektra were too much for my early pubescent, ninja-fueled dreams. Miller brought a fresh athleticism, level of danger, heroic angst, crisp and kinetic style along with provocative writing and solid pacing. I've pursued his DD run in 9.8 more than is reasonable, I suppose, but it's a classic story-telling run, both visually and narratively. Miller's style was thriving during that period. It was definitive for him. He would do some later, classic work, too, but this is where it started. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

  20. Robert picked up a couple of surfer slabs from my recent sale and everything went peachy keen. (thumbs u Thanks very much!
  21. Eric bought a Spec Spidey 64 and a TOS 94 (MODOK!!!) from my last sales thread, and he proves that Canadians aren't just about maple syrup and hockey. I'm not sure what that means, but he's great to do business with, wouldn't hesitate in the future.
