  1. Another smooth transaction with Randall. Great boardie. (thumbs u
  2. Haven't we learned by now that some sellers are not lying and sales are indeed made via PM For all this talk of "community" some folks are so quick to believe the worst in people. I just got a book from him today on s deal done by pm. It's a great copy of FF 67 that was at an attractive price. He knew I was interested after I missed the copy that Roy bought in the thread, so he messaged me about another copy. Good seller in my (one) experience with him. I assume you are talking about the seller in the original thread and not me Yes, I mean Igor.

  4. I bought a couple of Hawkeye Comics from chaos. Good transaction, I could care less about his sales thread's style. Certainly not worth making an issue out of it.
  5. Theres another can of worms, "no returns" I guess if you get a damaged slab or shaken damaged book like the ones Wally posted...you're skrewed? I bought a no returns slab and the seller barely bothered to package it. That one cost him as the shabby packaging caused a crack to the slab that would require regrading. It was too inexpensive to be worth it to me, and I didn't want it that badly. He got stuck with a 1.8 silver age key worth <$100. And besides, PPal wouldn't have supported him. He didn't have a choice ultimately. But he made it right, and it wasn't an issue.
  6. Thanks, Bosco, for sharing the news!
  7. I learned my lesson, twice with the same buyer, about buying in hyped threads with lots of keys that are overgraded and priced on the high end of their over-grades. No thanks.
  8. I sold a $1000 book to a boardie, paid for a signature of course, and first it never appeared in the tracking system. It finally appeared, once it was delivered and signed for. I messaged the boardie, and he hadn't signed for it. It was waiting in his PO box. I'm hoping that it was because it was a PO box. But even then, a signature is a signature. I had a good PO deliveryman who came to our house unless he was on vacation. He knew that we have a small child, an infant at the time and a toddler now. He understood about not knocking and would leave non-signature packages at the door. He's been shifted somewhere else, and the new people will sometimes ignore the "please don't knock" sign that we use when the toddler is napping. And they have started putting the slips about picking up signature packages in the mailbox even when we are home and don't have a sign on the door. And one of the two people I see now griped about the boxes I ship: "Takes up a lot of room, you know." I'm thinking, "Hell, this pickup is part of what funds your employer." Plus, it's your job. Keep your whining to yourself. I was receiving a box from CGC that time, too. So drop off and pick up. I make a bit of money buying and selling, and here's this jerk complaining about how I help pay the bills.
  9. Who knows, right? Has anyone here ever been excited to see come to market a comic that you've wanted for ages? It appears and you think, "That one is mine!" Maybe someone just wanted it quite badly. Who knows, right?
  10. So I have insurance on my comics. Is it a waste of money to ship registered mail and pay for insurance? I've never needed to file a claim, but I am paranoid when shipping big ticket items. But paying twice for insurance, in essence, is just eating my bottom dollar.
  11. There are some sellers I would buy from without pictures. If I have enough history with the person and know their grading. No returns messages me squeamish, but caveat emptor.
  12. Nick sold me some graphic novels. He grades tightly, packs well, and ships fast. And a friendly gent to boot. I'd buy from him again.
  13. AL sold me some Silver Surfers recently. Easy communication, fast shipping (really really fast!), and a great deal on the comics. (thumbs u
  14. Okay, this is nuts. A CLink sale. DD 161, 9.8, white for $276 When I saw the bidding go over the price of a copy on Mycomicshop.com, I went and bought that one. Glad I didn't waste my time pursuing this.
  15. I'd had two or three transactions with Rob, and this time, we did a trade for comics and some cashola. This was actually the first time ever that I did a trade as I've always been reluctant, but I felt comfortable with him. And this too went off without a hitch. Genuinely a nice guy and easy to work with.
  16. Yet another solid transaction with Jim. He sold me my first Batman comic, first silver age Riddler no less.
  17. That's crazy cheap... Ended just over $700. Probably a good buy. Seller picked a bad ending day. Regardless, books value is overstated imo. An unattractive cover for a story with no relation to what made the run famous.
  18. Is routinely misused in English, making the word itself moot.
  19. Notice the seller says: This comic is CGC 9.8 in condition and the case is scratch and crack proof.
