I was just telling a friend that I’m finally getting around to watching Iron Fist season 2 which has Typhoid Mary. Last week I was thinking, “Man, it’d be great to pick up a JRJr page with Typhoid Mary.” Cue lmao. Anywho, I’d choose this page over the other for the sexy TM shots.

I really was kidding and making merry mischief. I guess it is possible that someone could break these up. I mean people cut trading card art right down the middle and sell it off that way. Was this issue one big gatefold or were they separate connecting covers? I don’t remember.

Not knowing what issue you are talking about puts limitations on our advice and opinions. But let me offer you a contrary viewpoint. I have seen complete books for sale that have 1-2 "A" pages, 3 "B" pages, followed by 20 C-level, talking heads, out-of-costume pages. If someone decided to buy it and break it up, that person might get some good money on the A and B pages, but the sale of those might not even get him to break even. Now he's stuck with 18-20 C pages that he can't move, or will sell for <$100. That said, it would probably be "easier" to sell the book complete because there is something special to owning a complete book, or as a particular rep likes to say, "Your very own Artist Edition." So evaluate what you have. Can you move each individual pages easily? Or do you have 89% C-level pages? Because if it's mostly C, then it may be in your best interest to complete the book.

Seasoned collectors will tell you that there are quite a few artists who don’t like the business side of things or don’t like to handle sales. Keep in mind that they are artists, not business folks. They need to prioritize meeting deadlines over packing art and going to the post. That’s why they have reps to do that work for them. It’s not unusual to contact an artist for art and at some step along the way they don’t follow through with what they say they are going to do or just stop responding. Sometimes reps don’t even respond to your queries!

My observations seem to confirm this. I’ve seen stale inventory from one dealer move to another dealer’s site (likely due to trade) with a new markup, then, sold. It’s like they have a different audience, or someone is more comfortable buying from one dealer or another. Or maybe it’s their “marketing” reach. Will Gabri-el somewhat talks about this in one of the early CAF shows.

Not in the U.S. since the holidays. I did sell two pieces of art via eBay to France and the U.K. and mailed USPS First Class International and the delivery dates for both have been one month. I feel like it shouldn’t take that long.

In a recent Clink auction, an all Punisher page from ASM by Bagley went for $1750. I’d price the Darkhawk similarly…although there may be a bump because it’s an origin page and 90s Darkhawk pages are htf. The other has decent shots of Spidey and it’s a half-splash which seems to attract a higher price even though it’s Spidey’s back facing us. Looking at recent comps that would start at $2800 but I can’t see it past $3500. (In auction at FMV if you know what I mean.)

This is exactly what happened to me and what I thought.

I found out about the move two days ago after I couldn’t for the life of me find the comic art auctions on Monday. Not sure how this will impact bidding. I feel like nothing goes under the radar anymore. I know that I always forget to put in my proxy bids on Monday, maybe this time I’ll remember since it’s midweek.

Well, gentlemen, my plans have been thwarted. Heritage is phasing in floor bidding so there are still Covid precautions, one of those being social distancing. They don't want the venue too crowded, and since I'm not going to be a bidder, well you know. Otherwise, these events are generally open to the public. I've been advised to check back September to see where they are at with protocols for their fall auction. I will say that my experience talking to Heritage about this was positive. They are very professional and personable.

I just got off the phone with Heritage. And you're right, whom I talked to on the other line was very personable. Anywho, she told me that they are phasing in live floor bidding and it sounded to me like they are still iffy about it She submitted a form for me that expresses my interest in attending the floor session and someone will get back to me prior to the session. For what exactly, I don't know. I'll see how this goes. Man, I hope I'm not the only one there because it's going to be awkward af not raising a paddle the entire time.

I may be in Dallas on the day of Heritage's Signature Session and I'm interested in attending and experiencing their live auction. Has anyone done this before in Dallas? First, it seems like the moratorium on floor sessions has been lifted. Am I wrong about that? Second, and most importantly, do I just show up and sign in? Do I need to call in advance? Do I need a ticket or something? I ask this because I've looked at the website and there is no specific information about how to attend a live a session. Any guidance is appreciated!

Research is very important to me. I've been burned because I didn't do my research. I couldn't do one of these claim shows unless it was a piece on which I had already done... the research.

I also lament selling my keys, albeit in low grade, to fund my OA. I wish I had sold other things instead. I'm also glad I hung on to the keys I do have. That said, I think about the maintenance to keep comics in good shape and I don't want to go back to that. I mean one ding can knock off hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars from your book. Forget that. One of the reasons I jumped to OA is because condition is a nominal matter. With the "rising" prices of OA, I made the realization that I'm priced out of the major auctions; but at the same time there are nice pieces to be had for reasonable price, like Rick2You says. Therefore, I still have skin in the game. It's about being resourceful.
