  1. I just won my first ever Comic Link auction with a $40 bid at 10:40 pm central time. There’s deals to be had, folks! Deals to be had! Now how the do you check out?
  2. I’ve never sold through an auction house but I don’t believe the 1099K rules apply to them. Don’t they send checks?
  3. There is a colorist named Kevin Senft who goes by the pseudonym Blond.
  4. Get yourself an account with Heritage Auctions to view a history of sales. Here are two comparables (comps). Keep in mind that in today’s market prices change rapidly. Also, it’s good etiquette to create your own post in the main OA chat room and not hijack someone else’s thread (of which I’ve now become an accessory).
  5. That is the weirdest Joe Quesada signature I’ve ever seen. Around the time Origin was released, Dynamic Forces put out a bunch of signed and remarqued editions that included certificates of authenticity. Does this come with one? It should state who signed the book, though it doesn’t stop anyone to add an additional signature like I did once. Nevertheless what gives me pause is that Joe Q misspelled his name. He left out the “e.” These DF editions came in the hundreds so it could be that he was in a rush, but I would be hesitant buying anything with that signature.
  6. The one thing that bugs me about CLink is that there is no tracking which turns out to be to their advantage, and a benefit to their consignors. If I want to track something, I have to put in a bid early. Half the time I forget to show up at auction's opening which is to my disadvantage because for some stuff I wanted to track, I don't feel comfortable putting in a high bid (for me, that would be mid-four figure). But there is stuff that I know is going to end in the five-figure range (e.g. McSpidey), so I don't mind putting in a bid that I would never pay. Yesterday I put in $1100-1200 (tracking) bids on pieces I wouldn't feel comfortable paying that much for--because there's always that .01% chance I win the auction--however, history shows that the art shoots up in the final seconds, so there's very little for me to worry about. (I was outbid on those auctions a few hours later.) CLink is the only platform that makes me feel comfortable putting in otherwise uncomfortable bids. I want the convenience of tracking the art in my account and I want an archive of those comps.
  7. It's been exactly 2 weeks since I paid and still no notification of shipping. My email payment confirmation says to expect delivery in 7-14 days. Of course they don't say if that's calendar or business days. Also according to the email, if I have any questions I can reply directly to the email. I may do that on Monday.
  8. I would've give Suydam a pass had he posted this Photoshopped pic with tongue in cheek, but for him or his people to deny the photo was doctored is beyond redonkulous. Nobody in line is holding a single g.d. comic and not one person with a roll-e-cart can be found. And two people are wearing shades--indoors!
  9. I won my second Heritage auction on Wednesday, Feb 2 and paid my invoice on Friday, Feb 4. I foolishly thought my art would be shipped out on Monday, Feb. 7. It's now been over a week since I paid and I've yet to hear anything about shipping confirmation. Then I remember some folks here grumbling about late shipping from Heritage. How long is it taking you to receive your art from Heritage?
  10. I was getting them too as I was preparing to bid yesterday, but hitting the refresh button resolved it. Weird.
  11. This is the only way I win auctions that I have to win. It’s risky if it backfires, but most people aren’t 🤪 enough to grossly overpay the way I am ready to.
  12. I've won at Hake's before and overall it was a smooth experience. The only thing that I did not like is that when I was invoiced I was automatically billed for the 18% buyer's fee, when it was my intention to pay by check to save a little money. I'm sure I could've called them, but I just didn't have the time so I ate up the extra 3%. So if you do win something, and want to pay by check to save a little money, be prepared to call them.
  13. F&#!, I'll do it! You reading this, Halperin?!
  14. I was just about to say Stan Sakai. And it’s my understanding that Paul Chadwick sells his covers but not his interiors. Also in the “I won’t sell art from” category, Derf won’t sell art from his My Friend Dahmer graphic novel.
  15. Here’s what Spiegelman actually said: ”I’ve moved past, um, bafflement, to trying to be tolerant of, uh, people who may possibly not be Nazis. Maybe?” No one throws better shade than the OG creator of Garbage Pail Kids. And what were GPKs if not shade toward American culture and what it became in the 80s?
  16. I like the first response he gave in a live interview with CNN that went something like, “At first I was trying to see their POV and then I was trying to convince myself they weren’t Nazis.”
  17. I made the evidence-less assumption that he bought the complete book. I guess it now makes sense why he would “break up” the book by selling that splash during Comic Art Live; it was never complete to begin with. So does this mean there are other pages to be had? 🤔🤔🤔
  18. I am more of a Darkhawk fan than a Speedball fan, but Sleepwalker has a special place in my heart. I picked up the first issue at a grocery store, and come to think of it, I think that may have been my first #1 issue 🤔 The reason you don't see a lot of (early) Sleepwalker art is because Bret Blevins kept it all. And, since he didn't have an inker, there are no "inker pages" floating around either. I heard from a reliable source that a BSD black hole collector bought it all, so you won't see any of the Blevins work come to light any time soon. I do hope I got bad intel. About 12 months ago or so, CLink was auctioning off a couple of Sleepwalker pages by Kelly Krantz. I think a Joe Quesada Sleepwalker cover also sold on Clink about 3 or so years ago. That's about all I've seen.

    Congrats

oh god that is so true 👆
  20. Perhaps the time and mood has already passed here. My older brother bought GI Joe #21 off the rack and that copy is in my possession. Like so many, I have a lot of nostalgia attached to it. You can count me among the legion of fans. But how dumb did I feel when this popped up Heritage with Ed Hannigan credited as the penciler? I had no idea and I felt less of a fan. For some reason I thought this was a Janson cover or a Leialoha/Janson cover. Perhaps even laid out by Larry Hama. So thank you, Gene, for stating on the podcast that it wasn’t even known that Hannigan is penciler until a year ago. I don’t feel as dumb. And I’m sure I looked it up on comicbookdb at one point and it probably had the credits wrong. This cover is a classic, period. Whether it was all Janson or Leialoha/Janson, it’s still a $350k to me.
  21. Thanks Nico! Is there anything your site can’t do???
