I've added the books to my holds list, I'll at least give it a chance. I'm not buying much by way of floppies these days, so it doesn't hurt to give a new book a try.

Jayman reacted to Robot Man in Manhunt #12 Raw RARE sold for $3,351 ?!?
Checked my Manhunts just in case but no luck. Only ones I have so if someone has the rest and can check. Could #12 be all new content that for some weird reason was never published in the US?
Was fun to look through these again. Such great books. Not just the covers but the contents as well. Hard to beat a book with a Frazetta and LB Cole story. Or LB Cole and Graham Ingals in one book?

Jayman reacted to Electron in Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!
Recent grab. It wasn't on my radar at all, and I tried to resist, but in the end my comic addiction took over and I plunked down a stack of hundreds anyway. Despite a few obvious defects, it is a very fresh and tight copy. Just the way I like em!

Eerie #38
I’m familiar with this cover but I just only picked up a copy recently. I always thought the figure on the cover looked more snake-like than an ape. Turns out I was correct as the story unfolds in The Carrier Of The Serpent.
The Monster Gallery was interesting in that the topic was the Mothman. A fairly recent phenomenon when this issue came out. There’s no mention of the December 15, 1967 collapse of the Silver Bridge and the death of 46 people but perhaps that connection wasn’t made at the time. The book Mothman Prophecies came out in 1975 and helped popularize the legend along with the movie in 2002.
1 Stake In The Game
Starting as a very basic vampire story, it wanders off into a very sensual couple of panels where the vampire seduces and drinks the blood of the protagonist’s girlfriend. The story then goes back to the main story. It just seemed odd to me as it set two different tones in the story. I thought this was a crazy irresponsible thing to do in this panel and it turns out it was!
Another oddity is that they broke it up into a two part tale in the same issue. Has this been done before? An ok tale but with a cheap twist at the end to make you say “really?”.
2 The Carrier Of The Serpent
Grandenetti’s style is perfect for this tale. The story itself is a twist on the frog and the scorpion tale but was an enjoyable read for me.
3 A Stranger In Hell
Not a bad story but not great either. A doomed man is cursed to traverse Hell with having no memory of how or why he ended up there. I’m typically not a fan of such stories as I don’t know if any of it is justified against the protagonist. The redeeming aspect of this story however, was the Maroto art which was stunning IMO.
4 The Night The Snow Spilled Blood!
Tom Sutton seemed to be channeling Will Eisner a bit on this one with his use of tiny frames and use of type. At times it honestly felt like a Spirit story.
The twist/reveal at the end was disappointing but the Sutton art saved this one.
A good issue overall with no terrible clunkers. A classic cover with Carrier of the Serpent, Stranger in Hell and Night the Snow Spilled Blood as the best.

Don’t forget Creepshow written by Stephen King. OA drawn by Wrightson from Heritage, but not mine.☹️ It’s almost Father’s Day!
But I do have a Nathan Grantham action figure.
