I actually recreated a Lichtenstein piece (which itself was taken from a photo in a catalog) called “Girl with Ball” and made the girl’s swimsuit out of copyright/trademark information as a subtle criticism of Lichtenstein’s propensity to appropriate others’ work. Here’s my version and Lichtenstein’s version.

The difference is that when a collector sells an item he’s not claiming to be the creator of the item, just the current owner.

All of this could have been avoided if the seller had bothered to send to the buyer the excel spreadsheet of all of the books in the deal (which he already had). Mo Mystery = Mo Problems
