  1. You can join that guy that fell 47 stories a few weeks ago and lived (unfortunately his brother who fell with him didn't). And if I have to pick one of these, I guess the All Winners, but I'd much rather have a nice All Select #1 for less money
  2. Another good quiz would be to name the other titles that were also 7¢.
  3. Then how much less exciting and less significant is the 72nd issue if New Comics? Like I said, the 172nd teaming of Simon and Kirby isn't exactly a reason to value a book 8-10x the issue before it (or 8-10x as much as their first true collaboration and superhero creation in Blue Bolt). You would at least have a semi-valid point if you were arguing for the #73.
  4. Aside from being the first issue of the longest published comics title in history as well as the book that gave the company it's initials vs. the 172nd Simon & Kirby drawn book? I'll agree that "joe on the street" doesn't know either one, but at a comics convention Adventure #72 doesn't really stop anyone, but a Tec #1 on the wall snaps necks and stops people in their tracks.
  5. not if you like seeing Batman mow people down with a machinegun
  6. I would think ( but just a hunch ) you could add a few hundred thousand more dollars to your estimate.......and we both might still be low That would be a mighty big jump (3x) over what the 6.5 sold for last year. It would be a great book no doubt, but I'm not sure if it's ready for that big a leap yet.
  7. I'll go with one of the greatest covers ever (and a key to boot) - Silver Streak #6
  8. I will never, ever buy another Whiz #2, so even though extensive resto on a 5.0 sounds pretty harsh I'd take it in a second. In fact whenever you have a Whiz #2 as a choice, just automatically put me down for the other one.
  9. The tiny bit of glue doesn't bother me that much (agree with Rick that it could be scraped off), BUT...the fading is a significant factor on this one. That is something that is just as bad as trimming as far as I'm concerned, so I would easily grab one of the nicest known Bat 1s instead.
  10. And where is Archie on Pep #22? Or Subby on MPFW? But yes, I agree. If WW was on the cover (and if Aquaman/Green Arrow were on the cover of MF #73) these books would be much bigger. It should have been WW inside the crystal ball they are all looking at.
  11. Sleeper Golden Age Books... What a cool idea, someone should write a column about those or something. For me, I've actually always thought GL #1 was a bit overvalued in the guide - why should it guide for 2x All Flash #1 (which is earlier and basically the same), or for more than All Star #8 (which is much more important)? But my brain still has a hard time accepting that a nice unrestored Golden Age key isn't worth a stack of Bronze Keys combined with $100 bills. The #76 may be a better investment, but I still love GA books and I'll take the #1.
  12. If Steve doesn't mind me hijacking his thread for a moment. The comparison of these two books this week in the ComicLink Auction has left me shaking my head. I can only imagine being set up at a convention just ten years ago and a guy bringing this first comic to me and offering a crisp $100 bill if I would trade it for the second. The times they are a'changin... So... Green Lantern #76 in 9.4 for $9,030 OR... Green Lantern #1 in 6.5 for $9,100?
  13. Serious question? Does that really work? Ummm....Hello, have you not seen my avatar? Of course it works wonderbread = miraclebread
  14. Seems there has been a plethora of early Actions available lately, so I might as well add my recent pick-up. Solid unrestored copy.
  15. I count 5 copies and 4 copies respectively. Am I missing something? (and if you aren't counting an Action #1 because of tiny glue or color touch, are you sure none of the Detective's don't have similar problems?)
  16. Never seems to hurt Pep 22. And I'll vote for AS 8 also. Give me the high census for one of the top 5 heroes vs. a future Whiz #1 any day.
  17. Not Positive, but I think John Vyrzel....really not positive might be getting my facts messed up. Maybe he has the Allen town, I know he has the Allentown Cap 1 9.6. I guess I really don't know. I hope that helped! Paul Allentown Action #1? You are definitely getting your facts mixed up
  18. Is there a c/t notation on the More Fun? I thought it was only on the Adventure.
  19. I'm not sure this is correct. Does the Church MF#52 have a notation of glue AND color touch? The Adventure has color touch on the main image of the cover that could not be easily removed like a drop of glue along the spine.
  20. Almost certainly a 'mechanical' cover image - made up of stats taken from interior panels (page 4, panel 1 and page 5, reversed image of Dr Strange). Ok - then how about that sweet splash inside?
  21. If it wasn't such incredible stuff, I'd almost say BZ is an impostor. the BZ I know and love doesn't own nearly this many comic bags.
