  1. The bad thing about the Mark Jewelers variants, is that the insert is easy to remove from one book, and insert into another. So...
  2. Had the afternoon off work, so I went wandering around the local "antique" stores and such. Found a guy who was just setting up a stall with some comics, and for the first time in a long, LONG time, I scored. Almost everything is at least a 9.4. Not entirely sure how to do pictures here, so I'll just list what I found. Amazing Spider-Man #300. Batman #329, #330, #366. Batman: Harley Quinn Batman: Vengeance of Bane What If? #10 -- Jane Foster becoming Thor. This one's probably an 8.5 Zatanna: Everyday Magic. Shanna the She-Devil #1-5. #5's got a small piece of the front cover missing, but they're all in pretty decent shape, otherwise. Wonder Woman #199, #200, #204 and #207. Great classic covers.
  3. William Tucci and David Mack are awesome. One of them (I think it was Mack ... it was a long time ago) had a bad cold at the show I saw him at. He refused to leave, tho, because he knew that fans had come to the show to see him, and he still drew a free sketch in my sketchbook. Jim Sterenko was really nice when I met him at a show. Same with Marty Nodell. I've met Frank Cho a couple of times at shows, and he was pleasant both times. Not overly friendly, but not rude, either. Gene Ha used to have you do something nice for someone else if you wanted a sketch from him. He was a little disappointed when the guy he choose for me to do something nice for only wanted a Coke from the snack bar. . I've heard terrible things about Joe Linsner, but he was friendly the time I met him and got a sketch from him in my book. I've only really had two bad experiences with artists at shows. I was attending a bigger show (I think it was Motor City) and Ron Frenz was a guest. There wasn't anybody at his table, and I walked up and asked him to do a sketch. He asked if I had anything specific in mind, and I told him, no, he could draw whatever he wanted. He got annoyed and said "You don't have any idea what I draw, do you?" The other was Dan Brereton. Biggest horse's I've ever met at a show. Mind you, I was still (more or less) a kid -- probably 16 or 17 at the time. Had my sketchbook with me, and asked him if he'd be willing to draw something for me. He complained to me about "people always wanting something for free" when a) I was purchasing a print from him, b) he didn't have any kinds of signage about sketch prices and c) this was back when most artists didn't charge for sketches, at least not from kids. He then snatched my sketchbook out of my hand, flipped through it, and made snarky comments about the previous entries -- how they weren't good sketches at all, and how little effort the artists had put into drawing them -- and then did what I felt (and still feel) like was a really crappy, hurried, POS sketch.
  4. I think it's an excellent offer. But I can't claim it.
  5. I'd prefer Natalie Dormer over either Megan or Scarlett, but if those are my only two options...
  6. I think I have a shiny nickel around here somewhere. Edit: I found it, but it's not as shiny as I thought. It's pretty dull, actually. Looks like a little tarnished, too. Can I rescind the nickel? In all seriousness, I like the concept of TGT and PIF. I think both have flaws, but I think that the thought counts. I may dig stuff up or come across stuff that I think someone might enjoy, and I might try to "RAK" it up.
  7. Let me be clear about something. I didn't rescind my offer because of the threat of a strike hanging over my head. I rescinded my offer because I realized right away, after a couple of pointed posts, that my offers were not as up-to-snuff as I thought they were. I had, admittedly, posted the same offers (minus the one that was taken) as I had in the PIF thread (and yes ... I realize this isn't PIF) and my initial offer in that thread was snatched up quite quickly, so I thought maybe the others were decent offers. I discovered they were not. I have no desire to attempt to take any offers here, because I know (now) that what I have to offer will not be up-to-snuff for you people. It won't be anything CGC'd, and it won't be anything Silver or Gold, because I don't have any high-grade SA or GA books. What I had initially offered were books, HCs and trades, that I had read, and enjoyed, and pulled from my personal collection. I don't appreciate the accusations that a) I was trying to foist things I no longer wanted in an attempt to take something better or that b) I rescinded my offer because I was afraid of a strike. I rescinded my offer because I realized it wasn't good enough. I did state, at the time I tried to take the ASM books, that I was only interested in one of them. I did not realize I couldn't do that. The 299 would have been RAK'd, if I'd been able to take the offer. There was no "butthurt" at the time, as Harvey so wonderfully put it. There was no "attitude" as Meeklo stated. There was an attempt at humour, that obviously didn't hit the target, and for that, I am sorry. Not everybody can have an awesome a sense-of-humour as me.
  8. Maybe. I don't have the extensive collection some people do. I know that I can pick up a VF/NM #298 for $45-50 on my usual comic-buying haunt. I've just not wanted to pull that trigger just yet. The two Superman HCs are $20 each. If I recall correctly, the 3 Anita books are $20 each (at least $15 each). The DVD set isn't as expensive anymore, but the two Buffy TPs are $18 each. Maybe my offers aren't as awesome as an ASM #40 or some OA, but I think the "values" are pretty consistent. At least, I hope so.
  9. So it's only pick one? Ah. New to this whole thing. I'll have to edit my post for the usual rules people post.
  10. Can't beat that with a stick. Or at least, you shouldn't. Might break the stick...
  11. Evidently my offers weren't good enough to appease the crowd. I resend my offers. Back to the Spideys. (thumbs u (No need to worry about those all-powerful "strikes". I know when I'm not wanted. I'll not be back.)
  12. Ok. No interest from anybody from the first time I posted these. I'd like to get rid of them. First person to can HAVE them. US shipping only, which is kinda funny in a foreign-comic thread, but the last shipment outside the Continental cost me $35 >.<
  13. I don't think I have anything that would be comparable to the things that have been given away in this thread so far.
  14. That Vampirella is pretty awesome! And it's cool to see foreign copies of KEY issues.
  15. I really wanted to like this series, but just couldn't get into it in the long run. I ended up dropping it after this latest issue with my LCS. The premise seemed really interesting to me, but ... I dunno.
  16. Rat Queens is SO my favorite book right now. I'm both proud and sad to say that I'm the only person at my LCS that gets the book. They're a small store, tho, so they have to stick with the Big Two more than anything. So happy I found this series, tho. I recommend it to people all the time.
  17. Manifest Destiny is one of my favorite books! Love the art, and the direction the story is going. I only wish I'd managed to pick up an Ottley #1 before it took off.
  18. I picked this up in the beginning, and tried it for a few issues. For whatever reason, I just couldn't really get into it. I thought the art was ok, but the story just didn't seem to be going anywhere.
  19. I don't have scans available right now, but this week I picked up a F/FV Giant-Size X-Men #1, a F/FV X-Men #94 and a VF Strange Tales #180 for $250 shipped. I was pretty happy with that pick-up. Oh, and Marvel/Diamond did a 1/2 price Marvel variant sale this past week, and I ordered the 1:50 covers to all 6 Infinity issues, Inhumanity #1 and X-Men: Battle of the Atom #1. I'm excited to pick these up for $2 a pop. Most should be in my shop next week.
  20. I don't know a thing about foreign comics, so I couldn't begin to try to put a price on them. If you're interested, make me a fair offfer. They didn't cost me anything, so I'll be happy to see them go to a good home and not the recycling bin, TBH.
  21. Hi, guys. I purchase a couple of high dollar (for me) books from a seller on another site, and he sent along 3 foreign (I'm guessing Spanish) comics that I really have no interest in. I saw this thread, and thought I'd see if anybody here would like them. Superman 887 and 904 and Vulcano el Barbaro #14. All three are from the early 70s.
