As promised, here it is, just arrived in the mail today! I will be posting on 'My Slabbed Comics' also today, along with ANOTHER pedigree comic, (but since that one is not an MLJ, i can't post it here, you'll just have to check out 'MSC', . Enjoy. (btw, FINALLY figured out how to post here!!Nice! I am in the process of obtaining a copy of this scarce book too from Metro(on a time pay which my final payment goes out this week). It's the 'Rockford' copy. I will try and post it here(but if not I will surely put it on 'My Slabbed Comics' and give you all the heads up when I do.YES PLEASE! Nice buy! Def wanna see it.

You're a good sport( I would've picked MJ over Prince,)but you got two out of three(even if a fellow boardie gave you one). Good luck with your goal here, but it will take time and trust. Listen to the advise.Ok, I've got three: 1)Sinatra or Tony Bennett? 2)Rolling Stones or the Beatles? 3)Michael Jackson or Prince? At least get two out of my three1) Sinatra
2) Rolling stones
3) Prince
my guesses!

Thanks, . And that's one out of three I would have picked too.Ok, I've got three: 1)Sinatra or Tony Bennett? 2)Rolling Stones or the Beatles? 3)Michael Jackson or Prince? At least get two out of my threeSinatra... Why waste a question?

You are so right, . But I think it's gong to work in his favor.....You gotta give it to this guy. He has moxy! After his consignment ad and the overpriced X-Men #1…and he's still here putting up with who knows what from the CG board.
WTTB!

The Superman/Action war covers are in a class by themselves as far as DC G.A. war covers go. Take a bow sir!Two books from C2E2... -

A VERY informed answer, with many factors I wasn't including in my "prediction". Thanks! And yes, we will know soon. (thumbs u

Dear Gator
I am going on record on this board again to say that I believe the original art page for the first Wolverine panel published in comics in the current HA auction will set the record for the highest price paid for comic art. What say you?

Great stuff as always. I was eyeing a Pep Comics #17(1st Hangman) on eBay, cgc 3.0. The restoration was limited to amateur 'cover gloss ', so I decided not to pull the trigger(not knowing what cover glossing is, is it a substance that will harm the book over time, etc). I would LOVE to post more books here, but I wish CGC would have had the picture posting process simple as just going into your own pic files on your computer, so I just stick to 'my slabbed comics'. Keep em' coming!Decided to grab this the other day from SC. I've had a real low grade copy for 23 years and while I'd prefer universal the resto was limited to a cover cleaning. Plus the pages are OW/W.Oddly enough, I have fond memories of when I first got my copy. I was 16 and I paid $20 for it at a flea market. Just looking at all the page flakes in the mylar I knew it was rough but I had a hole to fill. Popped it in a new mylar when I got home ... the removal and reinsertion was like brain surgery. Might have changed the backboard and mylar once since then for fear of it turning to dust. Brittle would be an upgrade. Maybe I'll throw a scan up later for fun, I haven't pulled the book in a decade.

A favorite photo cover crime book of mine. Now i know why some people are afraid of clowns

Really nice! Do you feel 1st issue MLJ's (Zip 1, Special Comics1, Blue Ribbon 1, etc)are more 'plentiful' than mid and later issues in runs(which seem near impossible to find?)This is definitely worthy of theMaybe others have access, but I rarely get to see a Church copies like this.
9.8!!
-
yeah, I guess you can say that, and there are some standout covers in the run. But I'd say the Mr. Justice 'Blue Ribbon Comics' covers get even less fanfare. And I feel Cooper gave MLJ's spirit of vengeance captivating covers that can go toe to toe with DC's Spectre 'More Fun' run(nos. 11, 13, and 14) come to mind. Two of which I own and posted on my slabbed comics. So call me crazy ... and I wish I didn't feel this way since I have a really nice run ... but don't you think Shield Wizard is kinda the red-headed stepchild of the MLJ titles?Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing. Shield is great, but the Wizard is dorky... and he is too powerful.
If I had been alive back then I would advise MLJ to dump the Wizard, and make a title focused on Black Hood, Hangman and Shield.

Sweet!!! I'm going to go out on a ledge and say 6.0 from what I can see. Really nice book!I've had this copy for a while now ... thinking of submitting it. That top left corner is a bit muted, and there is a weird scuff on the right edge, but the book is flat, tight and pages are super white. Curious to know what it would grade. -
Nice!! Comiclink has a high grade copy coming up in their next major auction I believe. Thanks guys!!! and yes sir I do my friend Just so happens to be another #28 (not that you can tell from this issue) but I am sure anyone reading this thread knows what book this isN

Thanks Foxtrot, and glad you knew I meant 'shock' value, not 'schlock'. I owe a post too, but anyone who follows my posts know how hard I find it to post scans to this board. I will give it a try again.
IMHO the Zip Comics covers can give the Timelys a run for their money any day, for sheer schlock value, bondage, torture, propaganda, patriotism, and suggested violence.Picked up this pretty recently...[
Ditto and the stories are 1000x better...
Nice pick up Gino!!! any other treasures you need to tell us about??
Yeah yeah, I owe this thread a post myself.

Dangnabit! Now I want one too!!dangit, got tired of trying to get a higher grade copy. -
I'm pumped up about three books that I bought recently. Sorry for the lame pictures.... I don't have a scanner. These aren't super high-grade like many of the museum pieces that I've seen here recently on the boards, but for what they are, Farrell pre-code horror, the condition is stellar. They all belonged to a single collector who spent many, many years putting togeter an Ajax/Farrell collection. One reason I am very excited to have these books is that they are in very similar condition with vibrant colors and good page quality. Each has a cover crease, but not much in the way of edge tears, chipping or chunks. It's very difficult to put together a nice run, and unless you're a multi-millionaire, you have to go for books that are less than NM to do so. And that means finding books with similar defects and appeal. The collector of these books did an admirable job.
The first book is Haunted Thrills #5 with what I consider to be a classic skull cover. I love this one...
Sweet!! Recently I've been taking chances on raw books again via eBay. I'm a pretty seasoned grader and have been lucky lately. There are still some bargains to be had on the I slabbed market online because folks just don't want to put a lot of money into them I find. I can tell from this pic though that this is at least a fn/vf. Again, sweet!
