  1. 3 listings for high grade 1st prints: Comic link has a 9.4 already at auction, $25K bid so far. Last one ended at $35.9K. Where will this one? https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FSEARCH_ADV.ASP%3Fall%3Dy%26TITLE%3Dteenage%2Bmutant%2Bninja%2Bturtles%26TITLEOPT%3DALL%26ISSUE%3D1%26Condition%3D%26ConditionTo%3D%26CensusRank%3D%26SearchPageQuality%3D%26Pedigree%3D%26PRICEF%3D%26PRICET%3D%26DESCRIPTION%3D%26DESCRIPTIONOPT%3DALL%26SearchRemarks%3D%26SearchCGC%3D%26EXCLUDE%3D%26CATEGORIES%3D-1%26WCATEGORIES%3D-1%26SORT%3DNEW%26_where_forsale%3Dy%26_where_auctions%3Dy%26x%3D47%26y%3D18%26where_auctions%3Dy%23Item_1462321&id=1462321&itemType=0 Two 9.6's upcoming. One at Heritage starting March 12th: https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-nm-96-white-pages/p/7242-51001.s The other at Comic Connect starting March 22nd: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/901543
  2. Good eye. I'd guess $41K. The last 9.4 sold on Heritage back in December 2020 for $36K. Of note, this one hasn't come up for sale publicly since I have data back to 2005. So this appears to be a long-term owner cashing out (who likely sold it to this dealer). I like how ambitious the dealer is mentioning the 9.0 sale, which of course was from the Kevin Eastman personal collection. But hey, a guy's gotta dream right?
  3. ComicConnect has a counterfeit copy. Looks pretty well done, wonder if I could tell! https://www.comicconnect.com/item/901762
  4. I would sell whichever one I feel less attached to, keep the other one.
  5. Big jump. A little context for previous 9.2's: The last one sold was a purple label on 9/20/20 for $15.5K on ebay. Previous copies sold for $11.5K and $9K of blue labels back on 11/20/19 and 8/20/19 respectively.

    Archived images?

I submitted some books in 2016 without requesting images. Does CGC automatically scan all books that are graded so I can get an image at a later date even though I didn't originally request it?
  7. That's what I got out of it too since there's no other reason to pay such a premium when a higher grade copy is available in the moment. Kevin Eastman could make a killing by temporarily adopting other comics for people! Just kidding of course. Don't get any ideas Kevin!
  8. A new official high price for a 9.4. Previous public sales were $17.5K on 7/19/20, $14.45K on 2/27/20 and $13.5K on 2/13/20. If you go by the July sale it's a 106% increase in market price. Impressive. But hold the phones. The SS 9.0 sold for $45,600?! Holy pepperoni pizza. The last SS 9.0 sold for $14.4K on 5/20/20, that's a 217% increase. https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-signature-series-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-vf-nm-90-white-pages/a/40162-83010.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  9. The 9.4 on Heritage is up to $28.8K with buyers premium with ~9+ hours remaining until live auction, which means I have no idea how much more time is left! https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/40162-83009.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  10. I think he must be mis-remembering because that book was the talk of everywhere in the northeast at the time. It was a literal frenzy for month after month. Diamond of all people would have been knowledgeable about the demand.
  11. If I have, say a 9.6 comic already graded and I send it back in for a press and regrade. I hit the jackpot and it grades 9.8. What happens to my previous serial # and the census count? Pardon if this has been asked, I did a search but nothing came up.
  12. Since there are no public sales of 9.6's, I wonder if it is based on the 9.8's price at rally road. The ratio of roughly 2 to 1 from 9.6 to 9.8 is what I've discerned from pricing up until recently.
  13. I didn't see these two mentioned but there's a 9.4 and a 9.0 up on Heritage, ending ~ December 10th so we will get some price clarity for those grades in the near future. https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/40162-83009.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-signature-series-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-vf-nm-90-white-pages/a/40162-83010.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  14. It's the day you've ALL been waiting for. No, not election day silly, that's boring in comparison! This is the day that you can trade fractional shares of TMNT #1 1st print 9.8! Right now they're at $90/share which translates to $90,000 for the underlying book. I can't wait to hear the resident Debbie Downers on this forum give us their "completely unbiased, expert-opinion with absolutely no jealousy" analysis. https://app.rallyrd.com/app/assets/comics-literature/TMNT1
  15. A couple "Ebay versus" questions: 1) Ebay returns vs. Paypal returns with regard to chargebacks. I've had some experience with Paypal (unfortunately) in this regard, but not yet (luckily) with Ebay and someone attempting to do this. Anyone have any buyer claim unauthorized use of their account/cc in the new ebay managed payments system? How did it go? 2) Ebay selling vs. Instagram vs. Facebook. I know the last 2 don't charge fees, so I assume Paypal is the common intermediary. It just seems like a pain to re-do a listing that you've already created in ebay for IG / FB. Any hints/trips/tricks?
  16. Yes that's correct. The seller said someone named "smokin_reef" bought the book but had no intention to pay, and then proceeded to get nasty with the seller. Complete BS sale, never happened. Add him to the list!
  17. Just saw this #2 1st print in the ebay sold list for $10K . I know how these things can be manipulated, but if there's another sale that confirms this new price point then holy cowabunga. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-9-8-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-2-Mirage-1984-1st-Printing-OW-W-Pages/333743555587?hash=item4db4aa8403:g:QD4AAOSwHfdfWF73
  18. Ok I can finally get this off my chest. I'm in the club. I've been following the Turtles since they originally came out and have loved talking with other Turtle-heads over the years on this forum but have kept my collection private mostly. Some PMs here or there but I've never felt the time was right. Now is the time. Why? Because they're safe and sound in a safe deposit box and I don't have to stress about the risk of having them get stolen/damaged, etc. My first "1st print" purchase was from a big NYC comic shop back in 1986 or 1987. I got it and was so happy, paying about $125 at the time. A couple looks later and something didn't sit right with me. I looked closer and in better light and saw the abrasion below the word "First" on the inside cover. Then I read a little about it, I don't recall where, but they talked about counterfeit copies. It was a third print with the "third" scratched out and "first" written in. I told the comic shop guy (who probably knew it was fake) and luckily he acquiesced and gave me my money back. His reply to me was "you were right!". Yeah. I was really disappointed of course and gave up the search at the time. Finally not long after, I got the urge again as I saw prices were increasing. I managed to track down not one but two first prints. Originally I bought them from two different sellers in the Comics Buyers Guide probably around '89 and '91 for the two purchases. I believe I paid about $180 for the signed one and $300 for the unsigned one a couple years later. They graded 9.6 and 9.8 a couple years ago at CGC respectively, both blue label. Seeing those grades at first was just unbelievable in the moment for me. I lost my s*&t when the 9.8 popped up on my screen! Just a big weight off my shoulders now that they're safe and secure. Not sharing photos/CGC #'s until I decide to part with them. Either way, I'll hold on to my 3rd print which I bought off the shelf in '85.
  19. Thanks for sharing this. Most people don't want to talk about anything slightly negative or not "a HUGE win". Speaking of 9.6's, this is the first one publicly for sale in a while. Only $65K! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-1-CGC-9-6-1984-1st-Print-White-Pages-Key-HIGHGRADE/233729980886?hash=item366b6479d6:g:9UwAAOSwe~Jfc7OV
  20. I hate to give oxygen to counterfeits but these "Russian edition" of the TMNT books have got to be bogus: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-2-Mirage-Studios-Eastman-Laird-Russian-edition/293748839970?hash=item4464cb9622:g:jMsAAOSw3xJfalmB https://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-3-Mirage-Studios-Eastman-Laird-Russian-edition/293748841312?hash=item4464cb9b60:g:KA0AAOSwKHxfalnQ https://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-1-Mirage-Studios-Eastman-Laird-Russian-edition/293748839180?hash=item4464cb930c:g:gsAAAOSwHxZfalky
  21. The 3rd prints picked up even with several coming to market, still seems active to me. The second prints are not as available anymore and prices didn't cool down as far as I can see. There are very few first prints out there.
