  1. I'll be willing to wager that there is a direct relationship between the continual rise of this book and the amount of butthurt out there…

I'll call it the "NM98 phenomena…"; when a seeming limitless commodity becomes increasingly valuable due to popularity of said item… leading to others who "perceive" said item to be worthless becoming overwhelmingly butthurt due to their lapse in judgement…

I believe that this phenomena is interrelated with other human flaws such as; being selfish, and stubborn leading to modern term most commonly known as "butthurt"...

  2. In response to my questioning of the comic…

"Not a head start at this particular copy, a head start at picking up other copies of the book from local comic shops who might have it in their back issue bins, before those shops realize what they're sitting on and price those copies through the roof. As I laid out in the listing description, this was only a very very recent discovery by "blankiddy blank" whose own listing only ended over this past weekend, so the thinking is that the knowledge is nowhere near mainstream yet (the fact you yourself don't automatically know which book this is supports that notion) and is knowledge worth protecting at least for now. I definitely understand your reaction and lack of interest though, and I apologize if I've caused you frustration in the way my listing is constructed"

  3. talk about sleeping giant… I always thought this book had potential… I'm still butt hurt over selling mine… a couple things come to mind…

-Will the trickle down effect happen with grades 9.6 9.4 and so on… Using the NM 98 phenomena… I remember when NM 98 9.8s where at 400… now a year later NM 98 9.6's are going for 500… will we now see SW 1 9.6s at $700???

-Is this book the sleeper of the Bronze Age; trumping Hulk 181 in the long run…

-What happened to the .35 cent variants… 9.8s are now tallying prices that low grade copies where once garnishing… how will it effect those books?

-What happened when Episodes II and III came out as far as Ebay and CGC??? Wasn't there speculation during that period???

  4. side note: Wolverine #1 JSC Deadpool variant have 39 Blue Label 9.8s… It should be a $12,500 book based on the market of comics right now…

there are 5 known Wolverine 145 Bone Claw Errors graded at 9.6… That's a 90k book right there alone…

  5. WD #1 has 650 in 9.8… It has consistently been a 2k book…

NM 98 has 1500… and has been selling for record numbers…

things that defy logic happen all the time… this book is now a 1k and up book… Thats based on fact… not "the factors" one can argue against it…

.35 cent variants of SW #1 are the biggest book of the Bronze Age…

There are 3 films that are lined up…

I sold mine for 1100 bc a boardie had interest… and I felt now was the time… I knew there where a lot of lower grade listings in the past but 9.8s dried up… I sold mine 30 mins after listing…

I will be willing to bet as well as the boar die waiting to sell his; that this book remains up there… with the new series and JSC variant selling out at my LCC theres definitely interest in this book now...

  6. $1,703….

I think everyone saying negative things about this book are spraying a little hatorade… bottom line is the people buying this book are not on this forum… so; basing logic from that stand point… sure a boardie can argue all they want… bottom line is… the book is making record sales… the book is hot… as evidence by recent sales… base your logic on that… there are 250 or so blue label CGC 9.8's in two months lets see if it goes from 250-1500 in 9.8… I doubt that… base your logic on right now...

  7. 300 9.8s (including 50 which are Sig Series) is a _ton_ for a Bronze book, even if it's only 10% of those graded.

While the fan base for Star Wars is beyond huge, most fans will be fine with a nice-looking copy, and aren't going to be shelling out $700+ (soon to be $1,000+) for 9.8s.
