Andy, did these come from that collection you discovered recently? If so, WOW!! What is the best way to find old collections anyway? How do you guys do it, or is it too lotto to do systematically I'm going to write a book about it one day.

Got some freshly graded CGC books that will be coming up soon. Mostly Silver Age and Bronze Age Marvel, the odd DC book and a few other odds and ends.

Just had this graded on site in Chicago. Nice blues on this copy, which is usually tough as the cover has a tendency to turn grey over time.

I too love this cover, but after speaking with Gator on the subject once, we are in the minority on this one as many are not a fan of curly haired Subby. Jim It is a brilliant book, and I especially love the curly haired subby AND the green water!

Client confidentiality. I did post that I thought it was a solid 9.4 (thumbs u I think it was about $50K 5-6 years ago. It's not even on GPA. Edit: a 9.6 sold for $100K in 2004 and prices for all SA keys have risen since then.

May have been the case for the buyer but there were many others that would have spotted it's potential and bid against him accordingly. Anything advertised as unpressed, as the mound city books were, will be reviewed very carefully for potential. Some were successful in getting upgrades after pressing others didn't. If you followed the MCA auction threads in General last November it's really no secret that I bought that book at MCA for a buyer who wanted to remain anonymous . Cheetah is right in that the book was not purchased as an upgrade candidate. In fact many knowledgeable potential buyers that saw the book in hand at MCA didn't think the book had any upgrade potential at all. The price that the book was bid up to was what several people thought a CGC 9.4 should sell for. Considering that CGC 9.0 copies were selling in the $28K - $33K range (check your GPA) months before the MCA CGC 9.4 copy sold, and that would have put 9.2 copies in the $50-60K range where they are now, I think it's fair to say that the CGC 9.4 sold at what was considered a "fair" price at the time.

Money limitations during time of repair, interior stains, etc, etc. Some people don't restore their books to attempt to get them into a specific CGC holder. Some people just restore their books to keep them readable and look nicer. For all we know this book was restored before CGC existed.

Put me down for one. I had a #35 missing the front cover and a #37 but those are gone.

This was my "keeper" copy until a NYC Detective called me up one day to let me know that it was stolen property. I bought it off eBay from a guy who stole it from Metro.

#13 is one of my favorites. I owned the Church copy until I found out it was stolen and had to return it. I bought this copy from Bedrock and it was CGC graded. It has some resto on it (I think a tear seal with glue...can't remember right now) but it's a really nice looking copy.

Well, I was going to wait until I completed the run but this thread made me all giddy! I'm missing 4 issues for my #1-22 run.

I believe it was changed to "Red Melvin" or something like that. Yes, that's it!

It was The Big Loo and then it changed to something else.

I like it, stain and all (thumbs u with a date stamp to boot Ed's membership was brief...thankfully! Nicest looking 3.0/3.5 I could ever hope to find. Was wondering who snagged that one...

You should have asked him to pencil a nice Church code on the Fawcett to make you feel better. Why not? He's done it to other books.

Doesn't Verzyl own the run of Mile High Timelys unslabbed? He owns most of them, yes. I think he slabbed the Marvel 10. Does that mean he broke up the run? I think so. I think what Jeff (Nearmint) was getting at was the he doesn't own every Church Timely book although impressively enough he has put most of the run together. I think he owns all but about 8 issues.
