  1. That is roughly where my gut has been for the past year. 50% above 2019 seems to be around the right sort of area that MOST trends backed off to in the past when they corrected. AF #15 in 2017 did that. The book exploded and pulled back but it never went to where it was before. In fact, someone with some statistical skills should actually do a study on that book because it's sort of a leading indicator of most things. It's EXTREMELY popular so you don't have exposure issues. It's EXTREMELY common so you don't have supply issues. It's EXTREMLY sought after so you don't have demand issues. It has a wide range of affordability so you don't have that issue (do you want a $10K copy or a $3MIL copy?) It may make a great study.
  2. Even within SA there are actually books still going up. High quality books in top grades (let's say 60's and 70's books in 9.8, well centered, good pages) are STILL selling for record numbers.
  3. What are you going on about? There's no politics in that post.
  4. I auctioned off the 1st Spidey Super Stories #1 9.8 in a VERY long time many years ago. I think it was on Clink. The thing went for something silly like $1100. This would have been around 15 years ago.
  5. It looks like you've been using my phone.
  6. Doesn't everything dip around this time of year? School's back in, winter is here, con season is over, Christmas is coming. I don't think what's happening in the comic market is related to comics. I think it's related to economic forces and THOSE are affecting EVERYTHING. Not just comics. If wars continue to wage for silly, manufactured reasons (which is what I personally believe this all is) the common people will all suffer while the wealthy just get more wealthy. Rinse, repeat.
  7. I actually think it may grade out a little higher but yeah. Those books are still picking up steam.
  8. I actually don't dislike those as much as I used to, but people change out the orange lamps for clear ones these days and the early 2000 models start to look a lot more like later models. I just can't get into those later models. I grew up on 911s and 930s from the 80s and 90s and those things were raucous. ps. That's not a 911. I only drive cars that come in Male.
  9. And that, as they say, is that. Killer weekend with a friend of 20 years geeking out over junk. The title of this thread was apt. Dave has the patience of a saint and is bargain hunter like none I've ever seen. He's pretty much thrifted all of these things. That's a wrap! @Microchip That's a great pic of you and I, isn't it?
  10. We finished the day with a night on the town for some dinner at an incredible French / Italian restaurant named Melrose in Montreal. That is a killer pizza, drizzled with honey, the best French Canadian Poutine you've ever had and some fried something or other I can't remember.
  11. A meeting between Dave and I wouldn't be a meeting if we didn't share our love of Porsches. I've been a lifelong fan since about 1985 and even worked for them at one time. Unfortunately, I'm not longer a fan of the new models. After the mid 2000's the models began to gain weight, look bloated and get more luxirious. Something I am not interested in. I'm more interested in a rough, bucking bronco that is loud, obnoxious and difficult to drive, making it all the more rewarding. This is the first appearance of the Porsche Model 901, later renamed the 911 because Peugeot had the rights to cars numbered with a zero in the middle. That car was the start of a 6 decade dynasty. In the automotive world, this was the auto equivalent of Led Zeppelin's 1st album or Wolverine's 1st appearance!
  12. Was Max Headroom popular in the US the way he was in Canada? I vividly remember the show growing up but it started in the UK and so I'm not sure how popular it was in the US. Apparently the first CGI computer personality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Headroom
  13. We had a discussion about Whitman variants and why they never seem to have taken off the way other variants do. I have some collecting friends who are sitting on these and still expecting them to really take off at some point.
  14. Now WHY ON EARTH would they replace the original cover with this one? French Canadian Hulk #181 copy. These are EXTREMELY rare and Dave owned two of them before giving one to a friend. Again with the crooked pics.
  15. Signed by all 4 band members. The story behind acquiring this is pretty cool.
  16. This KISS poster is from the Dynasty Album (I think that's what he said - I was never really a big KISS fan but appreciate the art)
  17. Apparently this is a very sought after turntable.
  18. On a side note, being collectors Dave and I have lots of different collecting niches but also share a love of music. Dave is a big music guy and he has a great vinyl and turntable collection. So we obviously had to pump some tunes will geeking out.
