  1. It's a virtual certainty that a comic of that valuation has already 'reached its full grade potential'. You couldn't be more wrong and of that I'm absolutely certain. Risk doesn't come with a price ceiling and everyone's individual risk level is different.
  2. I actually think that's actually probably in the correct range it should have sold for. I was shopping around a 9.6 in 2021 for more. Like I said when that copy sold, it sold cheap and slipped through the cracks. That book has already resold for more than it sold for last year.
  3. I also didn't just edit my post.
  4. 😂 YOU started the conversation on inflation. I simply replied to your points with what I feel is a better interpretation of the economy and how it's affecting things, especially comics. If you can't read between the lines, the wealthy are still buying comics (and all other assets) and are buying on these dips + holding until it's time to sell again. I know they're doing it because they tell me they are. The poor can't afford these comics if they expect to buy at 2019 prices. No matter what happens (raising rates or raising inflation), MOST wealthy people generally win more often than the poor do. I've never understood why someone would avoid intellectuals they disagree with. We learn more from intellectuals we disagree with than from someone we agree with and it prevents us living an insular life where we could miss important points. It's hard to relate to people we don't know very well. Because not all the results are horrible. It all depends on which area of the market you're in. And sometimes liquidity is more important than squeezing every last dollar from a comic. Would you rather sit on a book for 2 years to get your max dollar or potentially leave a few percentage points on the table for instant liquidity and move that into something that may be a better hold for you? Different strokes for different folks and one size does not fit all.
  5. It's dropped 4 percentage points in 9 months. Hardly the "runaway" variety that you called it. I simply stated the reality that it was going to be devastating and it has totally been devastating, contrary to what most people thought was going to happen. Well, I have to correct that. It's been devastating to people who can't spend $1000's on comics. Most on here can't seem to relate.
  6. Over 2 years ago you stated inflation was just "transitory"". It's still here crushing people. Jordan Peterson has a great new discussion with Peter Schiff about the state of economy and inflation. You should have a listen. It's an incredible discussion and you'd learn a lot from it. Everyone would. The theory you're espousing, raising interest rates for "earning income from investments" is great for people with money who make up the minority, but it's devastating to poor people who make up the majority of the population. The reality is that inflation, raising rates and all the current economic measures being taken are great for the wealthy. Inflation benefits DEBTORS. Raising rates benefits DEBTORS. Who are the DEBTORS? The common people? Nope. The wealthy make money no matter what is happening, because their investments are generally dynamic but these new, unorthodox, eclectic measures for managing unprecedented economic actions of the last 15 years are absolutely devastating for the poor. The reality is that MOST people on these forums, people who ARE WEALTHY and spend $1000's each month on comic books seem to see things through their own rose colored glasses but have no idea how it's affecting the majority of the real world who can't afford to spend $100 a month on comics let alone $1000's or $10,000s as many do here. The obvious, proper solution would have been not to print so much money in the 1st place. Every discussion that avoids this most fundamental point is a deflection from the real problem and is just another bandaid on a terminal wound. On this I'll agree.
  7. You deserve to be banned for the disgusting insinuation you made about me. I did no such thing. What are you talking about?
  8. I find it amazing that you could think you know anything about the situation if you're not directly involved in it. There is a small contingent of boardies who through great efforts make sure I get moderated for every single, little potential infraction even if the posts are not against the Terms of Service and they've been doing so consistently and aggressively for almost 3 years now. Meanwhile there are posts being made by other boardies that are clearly against the TOS that don't get moderated at all. Why do you think that is?
  9. Absolutely. I find it amazing that I make a post that vaguely references these things. My posts are SO vague that most people wouldn't even recognize them for what they are. And my posts get moderated within seconds or minutes because a few eagle eye'd enemies routinely go out of their way to try to get me moderated. But you can openly talk about these forbidden topics and the post sits for days. Just A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. Meh. I'm well aware of all of these things, having done nothing but study them deeply for the past 3 years. Normal rules of economics stopped being applied almost 2 decades ago when the global economy crashed and entire countries went bankrupt. For many people it was devastating, but for others it was an opportunity of a lifetime to build generational wealth. What I learned is that when someone is losing money, someone else is making it. The world has always had it's major problems. It keeps chugging ahead.
  10. Agreed. The problem is that too many consumers just want to cheap out. They want quality but don't want to pay for it. Doesn't' work that way. Spend a few bucks per book to protect it. That's the way I look at it. I don't scrutinize which package of bags or boards are $2 cheaper. I choose what offers the best protection and then work that into the cost of the books. It then becomes a negligible cost.
  11. People are buying. Collectors are buying. Dealers are buying. I stated in this thread in January that many dealers I've spoken to either expect or are experiencing a bounceback. We shouldn't be surprised. That's a normal market behavior that we'[ve seen every time: Steady climb, big increase, pullback, plateau, climb again. @DC#'s charts seem to be showing that. I continue to auction books off and they continue to do reasonably well. Sure, a few bomb (especially books that shot up multiple in value in the space of a year) but the books that didn't shoot up overnight are still pulling @ GPA numbers or higher with some lower. And I've actually broken quite a few GPA records or almost met them with some of my books at Comiclink over the last few months.
  12. While I agree with your sentiment, would you be prepared to pay significantly more for your bags and boards if they were manufactured locally? Because this is something most people won't be happy with. They want to support local business and/or manufacturing but they don't want to pay the price of what it actually costs. And THIS is the reason things are made in China. Because people refuse to pay for quality products sourced locally...but it's the only way to make it happen. Personally, I'd pay extra for local products if they were what I wanted.
  13. We were literally messaging over the weekend about a deal and then he dropped off. I just saw this. We had our differences, especially over recent current events but he was always a great guy. Always. RIP Thomas. So sad to have him leave us.
  14. But that still doesn't change the fact that they ARE pushing diversity as an ideology. It's an open agenda of Disney's. It just so happens that the majority, as Microchip pointed out, don't care for it. They JUST. WANT. GOOD. STORIES. The question is will it change.
  15. I think what he is trying to say is obvious. If the writers are distracted with forcing in ideologies due to pressure from the corporation heads in order to shore up more viewers, those writers are going to be distracted from the art form and the story writing suffers by consequence. You might be a great singer, but if you're dancing around trying not to step on toes, your voice is going to suffer. You can't do two things at the same time as well as you can when you're focusing on one. That's just common sense. And that IS what has been happening. That's why Marvel won't portray any bad Chinese villains and why Mandarin was changed in the old Iron Man movie. They didn't want to alienate a large audience like China by offending them and having their movies shut out of a 1.3 Billion potential audience. And I also think @Microchip is correct in that people are speaking with their wallets. I haven't seen the last 4 or 5 Marvel Movies. Why? Not because of the ideological pressure, but because the movies are genuinely terrible. And everyone I speak to feels the same way. They don't gush like we all did for the first 25 Marvel movies.
  16. You're probably right. Standing up for what is right and calling out bad practices is against public opinion now. But calling someone a mouth breather is totally OK.
  17. Fair enough. I was done posting and was even starting to agree with Speedcake even though we disagreed previously. I just think it would have been beneficial to have the input of other members in writing as it tends to sway board culture in one direction or the other. Cutting the convo short tends to force the culture to go in one direction. Anyway, thanks for allowing the discussion. I think it was a good one to have. There are obviously diverging opinions on the topic of how long we should expect to wait for communication now (although never used to be) and so I'm wondering if CGC Moderation have a position on the timing of communication?
  18. Well, it looks like someone hit the notify button and got the other thread locked even though there was an important discussion to be had. And THIS is why we can never resolve anything, because we can't discuss it and reach conclusions.
  19. I talk to Rick from time to time. He's been out of comics for a while and busy with family stuff, which is great. He's involved with basketball quite a bit.
