    @drotto
You're already muddying the waters by leaving out the most important part of the line you quoted, which I BOLDED for you below.
CGC has officially stated that this individual will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Which part of that did you miss?

People wanting specific details about law enforcement, etc are now just being ridiculous. You can never feed the mob enough.
You're skinny in real life, though, you should get first rations.

No. I'll put in crayon for the kindergarten students.
CGC looked into the book and said it was fine.
I know you think you're doing all the heavy lifting with your one-liners but there are a LOT of people co-operating behind the scenes. They're just not making YouTube videos or posting here to announce it.

Cards are much older than comics and much larger in scope, much like sports have always been more popular than comics. It stands to reason that there will be more card activity and the card hobby will be larger than comics.
Coins are the same, meaning much older than cards and therefore the coin hobby is much larger than cards as well.
Remember, million dollar coins have been the norm for some time. Million dollar comics are very recent.

160 pages into this thread, you're asking the most basic questions that are quickly answered on the very 1st page because you can't be bothered to read it, but you can take the time to troll people. Good job.

Nothing to do with Bree or Briva. This could be an alias, family member or something else.
The people who need to know the details are aware of them.

You'd be surprised. In the 20 years I've been here I've seen the following happen:
    i) A well known dealer known for their integrity came on here to publicly call out bad behavior about a known bad dealer, and some of the boardies eventually turned against the good dealer.
ii) An honorable dealer got hounded by a pack of mobsters here for a very long time, just because they didn't like what the dealer stood for.
iii) A bad dealer get defended by boardies even though the dealer's bad behavior was indefensible.
And most of these actions were by boardies who are "well respected in the community" and some are still here regularly.
    I've seen it all here.

It's a big deal to me as well, and one of the problems I had when this went down almost a decade ago was they way it went down. People kept hammering him publicly when it was apparent that he was already going onto the HOF list.
People love to get their digs in (I'm not saying Comix4fun did, but as a general mob thing, people do it) and although it's not happening right now, partly because the dialogue on Mental Illness has become far more prevalent and mainstream a decade later, it's still a problem and I am touchy about it too.
    ---------------------------------------------
It's strange how many people come out to make sure someone doesn't sell here but when a thread pops up about openly bad behavior from a prominent seller or auction house that's impossible to ignore, it's crickets by the campfire. Thread is wiped or silent, nobody talks about it ever again. Everyone has seen it but nobody will talk about it.
If Chip was a BSD (Big Shot Dealer) there would probably be more people encouraging him to sell here. Shocker.
    Way of the world.
    ---------------
Edited to add Chip is OK in my books regardless of his selling status.

    I don't think so.
As far as I know, we've covered this already a few days ago. There was an unsubstantiated rumor that the scammer was showing his books off at a show and even that wasn't confirmed. The person that stated it (  @skybolt if I'm not mistaken) it never went back to the video confirm it. Has anyone else?
If you have some proof otherwise, please share it. Post a clip of the video with a link to the time spot that it's being spoken about.
There is no proof he was selling at shows yet, and I have spoken to a very prominent national dealer who would most likely recognize the name of this person if they were setting up at shows.
So far, ALL we know points to eBay for sure, and possibly IG, so online sales only at this point.
The important point being all of the online stuff will leave footprints and can be tracked.
If you have anything that proves otherwise, I'm happy to be wrong.

No, I agree with your statement below.
As I've repeatedly stated, I can see CGC using AI for some smaller aspects of grading, but I've generally been right about more things than you in the past so I'm willing to bet on myself again and take the over as to when CGC will use AI as a grading standard for grading it's books.

Every mountain has to start with a grain of sand first.
Speculation is where the discussion loses the trail and you start building the wrong mountain. Focus on building the right mountain.
How can you tell that the book in question is accurately graded and that the area around the staples is not production from a grainy picture when I can't?
If you've been grading for 30 years you should know that ASM #129's are RIFE with staple issues. Here are accurately graded 9.0 #129's with staple issues I quickly pulled off of Heritage.
Both books have relatively large staple issues. Using your logic, these books would be automatic fails.
    Let's stick to facts.

VintageComics reacted to namisgr in A discussion about using AI to grade comic books.
Except that I'm done.  I've voiced my opinions to the original question posed, provided rationale with clear support from the relevant fields.  I used personal experience with a multiplicity of biological imaging technologies and from having colleagues who use robotics coupled with imaging to perform complex and life saving surgeries, including endovascular and prenatal.  I considered the approach for machine learning in this instance as analogous to training new graders, a process that is done all the time at CGC.  There comes a point where it's not in my benefit to continue.  My opinions from this point forward will have to speak for themselves, as I'm not about to be browbeaten over them, particularly by someone operating outside their sphere of knowledge.  I agree to disagree.

Because I went out of my way to notify Comiclink about the ASM #129 conversation here, asked them to look into it and then relayed the results back here and all you could reply to my post with was snark.
You have NO IDEA how many people are working behind the scenes that aren't posting here and your snark shows a lack of appreciation for these efforts.
A simple 'thank you' would have been much more appropriate.

Public Service Announcement: If someone is always arguing about the argument and has a habit of trying to be the center of every discussion, to the detriment of the actual discourse, just put them on IGNORE.
I did a long time ago. This is a serious discussion. I can't imagine trying to get through 171+ pages with all of that noise.

While I don't disagree, for now, public social media handles like eBay and IG are enough for people to know if they've dealt with this person.
Personal privacy laws these days in the overly litigious society we live in make the consequences of publicly sharing information a potentially messy thing, and can even be used by alleged defendants to counter-sue.
The right people know ALL the details and a little trust is going to be necessary until an official statement is made.

They have a complete list of every book the individual has directly submitted, and can use the earliest known example of a forgery as a starting point and then count from there. They can also check to see if other known examples of forged books were submitted under different names. I am pretty sure that a big part of the time spent the past few days has involved pouring through all of their records and matching them up with tampered slabs.
If your statement is meant to imply that more books may surface that broaden things outward I would agree with you. If you are saying it is an intentional "downplay" I would not agree at all.
