  1. Losing my mind.. Okay, I just purchased a copy of issue #12 of Marvel's romance title "My Love". Why? Because it has a cover date of July, 1971. That is just one of the odd sets that I'm putting together: Marvel, July 1971. The other weird sets I'm going for are "Marvel #8's", "Last Pre-Hero", and a subset of the July 1971 set, which consists of the original issue of any reprints published that month. Does anyone else get really way more obsessive than they should, about putting together a set? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  2. I just sent in an issue of Amazing Fantasy, Journey Into Mystery, and Tales Of Suspense for grading... After a long absence from collecting comics (the only remaining issue from my original collection is Amazing Spider-Man #252), I was online and saw some issue or other, and it triggered a long dormant memory. I realized that I knew exactly which issue of Amazing Fantasy saw the debut of Spider-Man, where Iron Man got his start, and what the significance of Journey Into Mystery #83 was. This, almost 30 years since the last time I bought a comic book, made me pause for a second and contemplate what that meant (if anything). With all of that in mind, the idea of purchasing a copy of the issue of each of those anthologies that immediately preceded a super hero introduction, made me laugh. My first submission for grading: Amazing Adult Fantasy #14, Journey Into Mystery #82, and Tales Of Suspense #38. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here.
