  1. What was the sale price on GPA?
  2. I've not seen a CGC 9.8 Saga 1 5th printing on eBay in a while. Does anyone know how much these go for? This seems to be the hardest one to complete the collection.
  3. It is sticky like that. Once you stumble upon it, you want to get them all. Guess that is why they put the trade in the boxes.
  4. The art in the Braga special was awful. It was a great comic with Roc, but it doesn't seem like the same comic without him. Just can't get into it when the characters expressions are muddled.
  5. That's old school thinking. You can always make the pie bigger by attracting new customers or enticing existing customers to spend more.
  6. Awesome pickup. Thanks for posting it for us. I would love to pick up a 9.9 #1 but I never see them become available.
  7. I really like this series and the characters, so I hate to say something negative about it. But I'm going to put this out there to provide some feedback. The new art doesn't fit. It's drab. Looks like it was washed in something brown. I really liked how the Upchurch art was crisp and bright and cheerful. Also, the characters emotions are not coming across. The facial expressions really added something to the quirkiness of the comic and that is much more dull now. The artist is talented, but I just think the fit is wrong.
  8. Does anybody else think this book would be better without the paint splatters? I read the series last night and at the end of one of the issues they show the process to layer the art. Looked much better without all the extra splotches.
  9. They also have a ton of distribution and retail channels that Dark Horse does not. It is within the realm of possibilities that they could be pushing comics in Disney stores, theme parks, or other Disney affiliated outlets.
  10. Thanks for your reply. That is what I was hoping to hear.
  11. If you bid to win it, there's no problem. But you're saying two things: 1. I know the buyer 2. I don't want to win, but I'm bidding so the auctions will be higher and the items more desirable Here is eBay's shill bidding policy. I'm not sure why you would feel the need to bid a "floor". The seller could have listed the item with a minimum bid, or add a reserve.
  12. Is this a continuous series or does it reset like The Strain for a new mini? I saw some confusing previews for enormous v2
  13. Speaking of RR, has anyone noticed the low auction sales for copies of #1? Last summer a 9.6 cgc might for for 300$ Today I saw a cgc 9.6 listed for 100 and close with no bids. It's a shame because I really like the story and want to see it do well. Also seeing manifest destiny ice cold right now. I bought a lbcc 1 9.8 SS for 130$
  14. I think 25 is my new favorite cover and the wraparound would look awesome in a cgc case. Going to get one while they are cheap.
  15. So basically you shilled the auction?
  16. I really wanted the 9.9 #4 but after the bidding hit 170 I was out. The total auction and shipping was 225 and that was well out of my range. It went for basically 3x market value of a 9.8 #4
  17. I was watching this auction and hoping nobody would notice it. Boy was I wrong. I'd love to have one but no way I could do a grand Same seller had some 9.9's up for sale that I bid on, but they went high as well. 210 for issue 4
  18. I received my copy yesterday from mycomicshop.com. Usually I pick their cheap lonestar shipping and it takes a week or more to get to me. Also bought a few of the recent issues (4-6) to collect. I've read about a third of it so far and it's been really good.
  19. Actually it was a little less than I thought. From last issue it jumped about 38%. Still pretty significant. My concern was that it was trending down and I thought it might be in trouble. Maybe a spike because people read the TPB's? #'s from Comichron February 2015 120 Manifest Destiny 13 $2.99 Image 17,891 December 2014 175 Manifest Destiny 12 $2.99 Image 12,987 October 2014 194 Manifest Destiny 11 $2.99 Image 13,620 September 2014 163 Manifest Destiny 10 $2.99 Image 14,312 August 2014 149 Manifest Destiny 9 $2.99 Image 14,672
  20. Anybody else notice that the sales for this book rose last issue by 50%? The book was hovering around 11-12k and last issue was almost 18k. I think this is a great comic and I was hoping it would catch on.
  21. Saw lots of disputes like this when I was in the military. We never threw people away because they ran into a non-felony dispute once or twice. I like Rat Queens and I'll be picking up the next issue.
  22. Outside of the #1's and a few variants, it shouldn't be attributed to speculation. The indie market is growing because the overall market is becoming more efficient. It's easier to self-publish a book now, easier to distribute (online sales for example), easier to promote with social media, boards, etc. There are lots of little niches that people would buy if someone were catering to them. Big companies often fall into the trap of not catering to those small areas, allowing competitors to come in and chip away at their market share. Think about Diet Coke for a minute. How many types of Diet Coke can you buy? Diet Coke, Diet caffeine free coke, diet coke with lemon, diet coke with lime, diet coke with splenda, diet cherry coke, diet cherry vanilla coke, coke zero, diet caffeine free cherry vanilla coke, etc Why would Coke offer all those? It's expensive to make new tastes, hard to evenly distribute them, difficult to market them all. They do it because if they don't, someone else will come in and steal away a small portion of their business. And then someone else comes in, and then someone else, until you start to see your market share diminishing. That's what is happening in this case. The question is not really why they are losing share; the question is, are they really focused on staying a leader in this area? Markets like TV, movies, video games, and toys all seem to be higher revenue areas. I would expect parent companies like Disney to refocus on gaining more of those areas, instead of protecting comic book share.
  23. I thought Copperhead had a great story. Roche limit was alright, have to wait and see with that one. The numbers made me a little worried for Manifest Destiny. That's my favorite book and it seems to be hovering at around 14-15k. Really thought it would be climbing by issue 10. I didn't think the cover art on 9-10 was as good as the other issues, and people tend to judge a book by its cover. I'm always surprised that something pretty like Trees can sell 10 to 15k more copies than Letter 44 or Manifest Destiny. Or that Supreme Blue Rose has any sales after that first issue
  24. easily my favorite title right now. Concerned Buying Trend... you and krighton must be pretty upset that you no longer have all those copies you talked up, if only you could go back in time and buy all the copies back at those prices from the shrewd buyers that paid you.... If feel like I've seen this comment a dozen times. Every time somebody go talking about boxing, you gotta bring up Rocky Marciano.
