  1. I watched his video on the early Croydon's this morning, pretty cool to see them all in one place. Did a little background reading and Croydon apparently became part of the Star Publishing group that Cole formed after purchasing the Premium Comics Group in 1949. Just like with his comics, he did almost all the covers at first - 15 out of the first 16 book covers - but farmed the Croydon digest covers out once he became a studio owner in 1949.
  2. This is one of my few Croydons now but it's an important one - its kind of beat but still relatively clean. If you're going to collect Croydon's, and you should , you may have to lower your condition standards because you can only get what you can get.
  3. Most of the Galaxy run can be had pretty cheaply still if you look around. It's a shame but a blessing as well if you know what I mean...
  4. Most of the Cole covers on vintage paperbacks/digests appeared in the run of Croydon books from the late 40's to early 50's. Unfortunately they were printed on paper that creases very easily making them pretty tough to find in nice shape. I used to have them all
  5. Can you imagine what this would go for if it was a comic book? Cover appearance in a pulp mag of the 1st edition of Fahrenheit 451, arguably the most important novel about censorship/fake news of the 20th century
  6. Picked up a few of these on my holiday shopping spree as well. No buttoned blouses here lol...
  7. A couple more gems, Love Camp with the classic cover by Julian Paul and Date With Darkness sporting one of Dell's more risque covers by Robert Stanley Jr.
  8. Looks like Ace reprinted a line of Woolrich stories in the late 60's along with this one. http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/mystery_singles.html (Thanks to Pat Calhoun for this Ace site - very informative) I don't know if they're particularly rare as they're later than what I usually go after but his stuff is great and still sells. In the age of the new $10 & up paperbacks, the floor on any reading copy is decent.
  9. A few more nice Avons, a couple of them are minty. The Black Record of Germany is one you don't see many of.
  10. That Graphic is a killer cover... another one for the want list... sigh....
  11. Picked up an astonishing copy of one of the founding classic Diversey digests. The seller said it was found in a chest that was closed for 30 years. That might be bullship but it sure looks it. The inside cover and pages are amazing
  12. Lesbian themed books have been "hot" in more than one sense for quite a while. This one also has the great Nappi art and Eton's are generally pretty scarce so it's a great combo. The holidays are the best time to buy because most people are buying gifts and generally doing other things, plus the sellers are discounting more than they usually do to raise holiday cash. It's a win win for buyers. I don't usually do auctions because the stuff I go for always seems to get jacked up but bidding was sparse on many of the ones I looked at - many people just aren't in the market in December - so I won some prizes, as well as getting some great discounts on BIN's 👍
  13. Christmas to New Years turned into a buyers paradise for me while I was away on vacation. Few bidders and lots of discounts offered out there, so I pulled the trigger a bit in my spare time. I've got a bit of unboxing to do but here's a wonderful Nappi cover on a tough book.
  14. Yeah, he's the Gryphon Books on Ebay I previously mentioned to you. I think he's Gryphon209 to be exact. A good barometer for pricing. He always has tons of cool stuff.
  15. Oh, she's a Classical Greek Statue for sure, not a lithely hillbilly girl But classic nonetheless, mostly because she was fairly shocking on the front racks in mainstream stores in 1948
  16. THE infamous "nipple cover" ... If that was a comic book it would be worth a thousand dollars....
