My first comic, The World’s Worst… #1, has arrived from the printer! It looks really sharp in hand. For those interested in printing, here were my specs:
Standard US trim size of about 6.7 inches by 10 and a quarter inches. The cover is grayscale using 100 lb satin paper. It’s a stapled binding. The interior pages are also grayscale on 80 lb satin paper. Printed with Mixam, and I'm very happy with the process and final product. I’m going to sell some copies in the Sales Forum shortly. You can also order a digital copy of The World’s Worst… #1 at https://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Worst-1-Sohrab-Rezvan-ebook/dp/B0CW2P7NDM or https://www.drivethrucomics.com/product/474062/The-Worlds-Worst-1?affiliate_id=4288141

I'm proud to announce that I've finished my first comic, The World's Worst... #1. The comic is now available on Amazon (when you buy through this link, I may earn an affiliate commission. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.): https://amzn.to/48jjOEM
    Here's a quick description:
Even among the most well-trained, highly skilled, ultra-competent professionals, some are The World's Worst... This comic book anthology includes short stories on the worst CEO, Ninja, Time Travelers, and Medical Examiner.
This 32-page black and white comic is the first in this silly series and features the artistic talents of Neil Kohney, Luster Kaboom, and The Janimal.
The ebook is only $3.99 and is available for pre-order now. The comic will be released on March 1. If you purchase a copy, an honest review on Amazon is greatly appreciated.
This has been a fun process. My second comic is nearly complete and I have a few more projects in the works. These boards have been a great source of support as I've shared works in progress over the last few months.
I've also ordered some printed copies and I'll make them available in a future sales thread.
Check out the cover image below!

I've started to work on a few comics and graphic novels that have been in my mind for a while as I published a few children's books. I just posted the webcomic to YouTube. My first video ever.
Description of Dad Powers: All fathers are bestowed with special powers. Some powers help. Others hinder. All are permanent. These are the tales of Dad Powers! This is the first story in the series.
The video is set to restricted while I get some feedback. Here's the link to access the video: https://youtu.be/f9hRdpf6SS8
Feedback is always appreciated. Likes and comments are always appreciated, too.

Next week when asked how I spent my weekend, should I proudly announce that I made a comic where my kids and I pretended that they broke my butt?
To round out the five Dad Powers stories in my comic, I'll include a few random 1 page stories (like this one) and some single panel stories/jokes. I'm curious if other kids and adults think this stuff is funny, or if it's just us.

I recently completed the next story in my upcoming Dad Powers and Other Stories comic. This story is called The Park. Like the first story, this story 20 black and white panels and is followed by a single panel gag panel. I'll also make the 20 panel story into a web comic, complete with narration. You can check out my YouTube channel here to see my first web comic: https://www.youtube.com/@FlatMountainPublishing
If you're in the Phoenix, AZ area and are interested in being in a comic, just send me a PM.
I'd love to hear feedback on the comic strip. Thanks for looking!

I'm working on my next creation where I'm working on both the words and pictures. It's a silly, fictional slice of life comic strip about father's getting their "dad powers" after becoming a dad. My goal is to create a 24 page black and white comic, with a color cover. Each story will be between 10-20 panels, and I'll include a few other random one-off stories in the comic. I've included my first comic strip below. I will be getting a professional logo, but other than that, I don't have any other major changes in mind. I'd love to hear feedback on the comic strip. Thanks for looking!

I've updated my first story, Any Given Day, after receiving some feedback. I've now drafted the second story, In-Service Day, which is a whopping 46 pages! All the details on getting involved are included in the previous journal entry.
Quick summary of the series: The Corgis is a new, all-ages slice of life graphic novel series that uses anthropomorphic dogs to tell absurd, real-life stories about parenting in modern times.
I'm open to more comments on the first story, but I'd prefer comments on the second story. Reading both would probably be helpful, and I think someone could read both stories in < 30 minutes. No artwork, just page layouts, dialog, and panel descriptions.
Thanks for taking a look at the journal!

I’m a self-published author of three children’s books with a fourth book on the way in a few months. I’ve collected comics for 30+ years, and I recently decided to combine my love of writing and comics. The result is my forthcoming graphic novel, The Corgis.
The Corgis is a humorous all-ages graphic novel that uses anthropomorphic corgis (dogs) based on my family to present my take on fatherhood in modern times. The initial graphic novel will contain two complete stories, with each story containing 32 pages, for a 64-page total story length. The total story length is still an estimate at this time. The first story, Any Given Day, follows the father character as he goes through an unremarkable weekday with his family.
I’m looking for beta readers for the first story (32 pages). I have an illustrator lined up, but schedules don’t allow artwork to start until April. I’m taking advantage of this time to get more feedback on the story. The 32 pages are presented on comic pages with panels, dialogue, narration, and art direction (i.e., notes for the illustrator). There are no illustrations of any kind at this time.
Does the idea of being a beta reader intrigue you? Read on!

    What’s a beta reader?
A beta reader provides honest feedback on the draft of story. As this is a comic where both the writing and artwork play critical roles, beta readers pay close attention to the panels and page breakdown as a means to drive the story. As noted above, there’s no artwork at this point, but I do have panels and describe what will be happening in the panels.

What’s your commitment as a beta reader?
You’ll receive a PDF of the comic (32 pages), and you’ll have two weeks to review the story and provide feedback. Readers will answer the following questions:
    1.      What did you think of the story as a whole?
    2.      Did you have a least favorite part? What is it and why?
    3.      What scene(s) were the most memorable?
    4.      Did the end feel satisfying or unfinished?
    5.      Any other feedback you have on any story element (e.g., page, panel, dialogue). This question is optional, and the response can be as short or as long as you like.
Responses can come in a Word document or in the body of an email. If you provide constructive feedback and if you’re interested in reading the second half of the graphic novel (32 pages), you can choose to be included in the next round of beta reading within the next couple of months.

What will I do with the comments?
I will review and seriously consider all comments. I can’t guarantee that I’ll act on any or all of the comments, nor will I provide a point-by-point response to all comments. I may also use comments in marketing and advertising efforts.

How do you sign up to become a beta reader?
Just send me a message here on the boards with the following information:
    1.      Full Name
    2.      Email address
    3.      Country
    4.      Age Range (< 18 years, 18 – 30, 31 – 50, 51+)
    5.      Favorite genres of comics
All communication for the beta reading will happen via email.

How will I select beta readers?
I’m interested in beta readers who are comic fans. You don’t have to love all-ages comics to provide helpful feedback, but comments like “I just don’t like this type of comic, I really only like books about zombies” are not helpful. I’ll also not accept beta readers from anyone on my ignore list. I have no idea how many people will want to be a beta reader. Ideally, I’ll have 3-5 beta readers for each story.

What do you get for being a beta reader?
Assuming that the graphic novel is published as planned, you will receive a free copy of the graphic novel signed by myself and the illustrator. We will personalize the signature, too, if you like. You can also choose to have your name included in the graphic novel in an acknowledgments section.
There is no monetary compensation for acting as a beta reader. I may use your comments, ideas, and suggestions to add to or alter my work without any compensation to the commenter.

If you don’t want to be a beta reader, but I sound like an awesome guy, how can you find out more about my children’s books?
You can learn more about my books on my website and purchase copies of my books on Amazon. If you purchase my book, positive feedback on Amazon or Goodreads would be greatly appreciated.
