Everyone thankfully got their books. The sellers lack of communication, while not against any rules, is still unacceptable. Don’t do business with them again. The end. The time it took to type that out is about all the energy this situation deserved. It was no more serious than that. First world problems of the highest degree.

You excel at putting words into the mouths of others and deliberately obfuscating the issue, I'll give you that. I said the rules are that you must give the other party 30 days for the transaction to be completed. It should be obvious to anyone not being disingenuous that if you don't receive a reply from a seller (in your example) after 29 days but receive the book(s) as agreed on the 30th day, transaction completed and over. You can then choose to not do business with that person again, and that would be perfectly reasonable of you. If you don't receive a reply for 29 days and then also don't receive your books within the 30 day timeframe or there is another issue if/when you do receive your stuff, then that is what we have this sub-forum for. You seem like someone who just likes to argue. Everyone forum seems to have them. Good luck with your crusade!

I could and do agree with you that if the seller (or buyer, whoever) is ABLE they SHOULD communicate in a timely fashion. But sometimes people cannot and are given the benefit of the doubt, which is literally why the rules are for 30 days. It simply does not matter that someone doesn't respond to you in one, or two, or even three days (just going by your extremely strict standards here) whether or not they are in the middle of a blizzard or just didn't feel like it. What matters is whether the transactions are completed and no one gets screwed. Then you can make a personal decision as to whether or not to do business with someone who doesn't communicate well. The rules are fine as they are.

I didn't think it was possible to so severely misread a room!

It 100% has been a terrible look. Its the worst thread I can remember ever seeing in the sales forums; and without any hard facts and evidence regarding the sellers situation or true intent, I think the dog piling went way overboard and far too quickly. It has not been a civil thread by any stretch of the imagination, not even remotely up to the standards this forum should be striving for. The mods literally had to move it here because people couldn't help themselves and continued to blow up If it turns out this guy, or someone else pretending to be him, indeed attempted a rip off job then rage on! But in the meantime, put the pitchforks away and grow up. Regarding his being "active" on the forums, its meaningless. There are many reasons that might have caused his profile to show active without him actually being on the forums. He isn't posting anywhere else on the boards, we only have evidence of his replying one private message. We don't know he hasn't replied to more. It's also perfectly possible that he saw the lynch mob and doesn't know how to respond. That's just conjecture on my part, but since he's not been given due process I'd not be surprised to learn he is gun-shy about responding to any allegations. Maybe it turns out he's just a lazy person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed frog who didn't take his sales thread seriously, but maybe wait til we know that before causing all this silly kerfuffle. And also again, unless you paid a total unknown a bunch of money with no protection (check, PP F&F, etc), there's even less reason to have nuked this thread and the reputation of the sales forum. Be angry and disappointed, sure. but have a meltdown? Try meditation instead.
