  1. I think this is project I look forward for you to complete (joke, but kinda not joking)
  2. I hear this argument often, The theory of supply side of AF 15 being too large, that demand will plunge and blah blah. I think this is beyond far fetched. If AF 15 was low supply like TEC 27 or Action 1, it would most certainly be priced near the same. If Tec 27 had the supply of AF 15, I think it would be priced like AF 15. Simply the reason it's still obtainable under 10k for entry is because supply is high on one the two most symbolic covers of all time. It's fine to have your opnion for discussion but please follow your words by selling yours and put a date of this great comic crashing. If not it just seems you are trying to troll. I can predict the Dow hits 1,000,000 and be right if not having to put a date to the prediction. Think that's only appropriate if starting a thread about your prediction is to be more specific
  3. Here is a rough draft the board can fill in the ranges and estimates. I am no pro but just wanted to get this started. Sometimes there was no recent sales I have seen for a few years so I just put question marks with my guess of current price (they could be way off.) these prices are of unrestored etc. Too difficult to do signature and pages missing. so here we go: .5 last sale $5700 1.0 $6500 1.5 $7700 2.0 $8500-10,700 2.5 $9500-11860 3.0 $12360-13995 3.5 $11,300-15,500 4.0 $13500-16000 4.5 $16,000-17500 5.0 $20,000-26,5000 5.5 $28,680 6.0 $32,000-38,000 6.5 $44,000 7.0 $48,500-55,000 7.5 $62,000- 73,500 8.0 $100,000? 8.5 $150,000? 9.0 $250,000? 9.2 $392,000 9.4 $454,000 9.6 $1,100,000
  4. Unfortunately not, blue label 1.0 off white to white pages. On vacay and looking to trade/sell when back
  5. So anyone looking to sell their af 15 for me to upgrade...
  6. I bid up past 11,600- really liked how it presented and knew of the back issues. congrats to buyer and seller
  7. Book ended at 8:55am- if that book would of ended at night time I do not question it would've ended closer to 10k in my opnion
  8. That's cool, collect what you like . I'm waiting for my upgrade copy so after this trip I will post for sale with better pictures- it is at bank so this group picture all that I have to show till then
  9. I will be having a decent 1.0 extra copy most likely coming up for sale after my vacation in 6 weeks. I will post announcement here before listing in forum first so my favorite thread gets first shot
  10. im sure these sudden comic loving folks with 20 million didn't get there being loose with the pocket book. They are generally successful folks that understand due diligence. A little effort would result in a better copy for that kind of coin When dealing with high end clients, I know I have had customers ask for the best available, regardless of price. I know I deal with non-comics for biz but there are people who not worth the time to due diligence or do they care. i am not speaking of myself so do not hate on me. Just my experience, never know another's perspectative
  11. If you have 20 million dollars, you think you give a hoot over 30-40k? Everyone always calling these people who spend new highs on books rich suckers, call me crazy but I wouldn't mind to be this rich sucker P.s- haters gonna hate
  12. Here a preview for tomorrow, had a few beers so thought best to wait to list.... figure if I post a picture I am obligated to list them tomorrow. There will be other books, but took a handful out of a box. Heres the preview- please do not pm me on individual prices, I have to inspect the comics and assign grades (which i do not want to attempt with a buzz.) http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/docternic/media/3F95C4B2-375C-4B20-8C80-1149B04319E6_zpsqnlafb3e.jpg.html
  13. Haha- yep! Austin is gorgeous, though tougher for me to find deals out here in my opinion than so cal (where i lived before)
  14. Not a recent find but fun story for this thread. I collected silver age for 10 years when growing up. Than for many years stopped collecting but 4 years ago I started to get back into swap meets and collecting in total. It's 6am, pitch black at swap meet. Guy has 2 long boxes of comics. They are newer comics and he wanted 50 cents a comic. I watched walking dead, great show. I see he has some walking dead comics and figured I would buy and give them to my friend because he was into the series much more than I. After negotiating, I bought something like 50 bookstores $20. I remember them coming out to 40 cents a book. I had the worst bag that books spilled out atleast twice. At one point left the books with a stranger which almost got stolen. Get back and my buddy said, you might want to look up the books. He told me to keep em.I ended up with 19, 28 and close to 40 first prints of early walking dreads. Bad part I put a nick in 19... Yea I regret that because it was near mint besides that. Sold the books to buy other books, now I know a world more once I got back into the world of modern comics, but thought that story was worth sharing... Even if I sound like an
  15. I am on the side of the prediction that comic books mostly will either stale or decline in 20-30 years. While some younger generation collect and do buy books, the amount of collectors who are 50+ for any higher end books starting at $1,000+ Is proqbbly 5-10/1. No I do not have polls or charts, it's a comic forum and it's just a discussion. My generation does not have money nor do they care about collectibles. A select few who had parents in the game of collectibles followed suit but this isn't the baby boomer era where nearly everyone collected something. Newspaper comics have nose dived, it's a good example that when the generation who were around for the collectible reach their older days- the value goes with them. Yes Action comics 1 will always be desirable. As will top keys, but a lot of golden age non superhero keys/ silver age random issues will most likely stale. Comics are here to stay, but the amount of books inflating at this rate will come to the end. Not today or tomorrow, but 20-30 years. I am still playing the game, I enjoy it. But I am not buying books expecting them to inflate year after year. I can be wrong being anyone that says they know what is going to happen is a fool. But anyways, always a great convo!
  16. Go for it! At worst you get to live in a beautiful city and the life experience is worth it. And you get to try to learn what you love while there? Why not? My wife loved Vienna, worked there for a few years and always wishes to go back. Do this while young, you have the rest of your life to worry about bills and family. Never want to look back and wonder what if? Don't let others drag down a dream because of their experiences. No old man is wiser than the youth because the bias experiences can be no farther than the truth. No two experiences the same. So while some hear talk horrible of art school or school in total, some of the most successful People did go to school. Some drop out when they have gotten all they need. The different perspectives and forms can be appreciated sometimes with the help of a professor or mentor. This all coming from a successful (so far) entrepreneur who dropped out of college. My greatest successes have been my failures. I interned at a record label and after driving twice a week 2 hours to Hollywood and putting in full days I realized I did not want to work for a record label. Greatest failure because I realized what I didn't want to do. Great experience and wouldn't change it if I could. Live life, get outside and have experiences that will last a lifetime.
  17. History is with MC 1 but it's Cap 1- Preference goes with Cap 1
  18. Sorry for the superman in the picture and the bad picture in general, currently at cgc so only picture I got
  19. Been meaning to post my addations to my timely collection, here we are
  20. Great seller- everything went perect
  21. this book does not need to be the "rariest" variant to be the most valuable. If this book did get recalled due spoiler of avengers savage hulk- this will be a much more sought out book than just some Star Wars variant. You won't have just Star Wars comic fans seeking it, you will have hulk and all marvel avengers fans buying up this. let me state this only applies if the book has definitely been recalled. If production continued you can through it back to $5 bin. but way more exciting than just another variant in a see of other variants in my opinion
