  2. If there was 1 million readers out there for the current popular titles, I would be more than thrilled. Unfortunately, what is going on now could be considered even worse than the 90's because the readership isn't there.

The 90's readership reached those levels in large part because individuals were buying cases of comics for investments. Is that really better than what is happening today?

  3. It seems that things are moving a little more quickly down there in Florida. No?

In recent months I have found that the actual TOT's for standard and modern fast track we about the same; 1 month.

Because I had a package refused by CGC (the PO did a number on the outside of the box but the books were thankfully protected) I wound up with a MFT that was received on 10/5 and a Standard that was received on 10/8. The MFT is in grading / quality control while the Standard is still in Verified. I expected there to be about a 3 days difference between the two subs through each of the stages.

Based on this it appears as though at the very least MFT has sped up in terms of TOT.

  4. Does GPA not segment the sales on the Mark Jeweler inserts?

I won a Daredevil #168 CGC 9.2 during the MCS October auction and had looked at GPA prior to bidding and couldn't find anything and just checked some other books and haven't come across any sales either.

They don't segment them out but I do believe they will note if the book had a Mark Jewelers insert just as they would other variants of note.

thanks, I appreciate the info. I just checked GPA for my completed sale and just as an FYI there is no note that it has the insert so unless I am missing something you would have to click on the cert for each sale to see which had the insert.

  5. Mega heard was my initial impression. Now I'm not so sure, hence my initial question.

At the start of the letters page; Kirkman and Shawn refer to it as the largest concentration of walkers

That's SEAN not SHAWN. Don't mix us up! ;)

    -shawn

My fault and my apologies! It wont happen again provided you don't mix me up again with the Patrick that is supposed to get the entry level Black Friday Mystery Boxes

  6. Purchased two of the 4 Packs of Marvel Comics from 5 Below for $4 each to see what was inside and wound up with the following...

Avengers #29 Original Sin 2nd Print

    Iron Man #17 (2)

Incredible Hulk #1 Blank Cover Variant (2)

    Uncanny Avengers #1 Pichelli Variant

    Uncanny X-Men #15

    Inhumanity #1 2nd Print

  7. Well I know of a few people with multiple eBay accounts, that bid on their own outlandishly priced items, and everyone is amazed at what they "sell" for but some of us know they are just there to set the "market" for something. I have that captain Marvel issue, it is lower on the print runs for Black Vortex tie ins but not as low as Cyclops #12 and Nova #28.

    Out them

I wish I could prove it man, oh how I wish I could..........I would love to drive the bus that I throw them under.....

Then how do you "know" they do this?

When you see something that doesn't add up, like an auction with only a few bids, that is 10x or 20x higher than any BIN, and the BIN are in a better grade for less, .....C'Mon man. I cannot hack the accounts to confirm, but if it looks like poop, smells like poop. Likely poop. And really easy to "set the market" mark the item as paid and shipped, pay a few fees to then sell others for "market". It is impossible to stop 100%.....

The same thing happened a few months ago with the Sorrentino variant for Deathstroke 1. A few copies sold for well over $50 when the book was still available at Midtown and others. I quickly bought 3 which was the max allowed at Midtown for $18 each. I reacted without giving it much thought and then buyers remorse set in when looking at the closed auctions and seri ting it was a few bidders and some were won higher than BIN prices. It didn't make sense. When I got the books a week later I quickly sold them and more than doubled my money. I believe the book has continued to sell strong. I don't know if the market was manipulated or not but it worked out. I picked up 2 of these at cover, if I miss I am still playing with house money.

  8. In February I picked up a What if? 10 from MCS they had graded a 7.5 and today I managed to get another copy from them just after the news broke that they had graded an 8.0 . In general I find their books to be conservatively graded. The 7.5 has some spine roll which a press would help but I am not sure if it will stay hot long enough to justify a press and or getting slabbed.

  9. For anyone interested I just saw a post on Slickdeals which shows that Google Play has the digital versions of Compendium 1 and 2 on sale for $5 each.

I posted the link to Slickdeals as that probably has the answers already to some questions that may come up.

    Hope this helps someone.
