Grading questions on a TOS #39
peakoilhater replied to serling1978's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I see a CGC 1.0, which has a completely detached cover sold for $3850 on March 10th. Your copy looks nicer than a 1.0. Either a 1.5 or a 2.0. Maybe have an expert look at it to make sure there is no color touch on the cover and you should check to make sure its complete. If so I think you did okay. The issue is how the person described the book. Just contact the seller. If you could return a couple hundred bucks I think you got a reasonable deal. -

That copy of DH 50 looks a little beat. I have a perfect raw or I found a few months ago for a buck. -

Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
peakoilhater replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I won the auction on the Darkhawk 5 second print. It looked like it was in beautiful shape and I talked to the seller who described it as so. Just got it to complete my Darkhawk collection. I literally never see this book up for auction and have never encountered one in the wild. I'm assuming there are not that many copies in existence. I'm sure someone will say I overpayed, but whatever. I had ebay points so it wasn't that bad. -

Did that come in decent shape. I've been looking for one. In fact I never even saw that one up for sale otherwise I would have bought it. There was an auction for one a few months ago but I was out and didn't make my maximum bid high enough. There is one on ebay but it is $115 which is too high for the condition it is in from mycomicshop. Out of curiosity where did these second prints come from? -
Thanks. Maybe I'll have Starlin sign it for CGC to add to the collection.

First appearance of Gamora. I found this fine copy at a book store yesterday in a dollar bin. The other stuff was 90s drek and this little gem was sitting there. I meant on getting a copy of this one as I like the GOTG!

I have my original copy I bought back way back when, and it's not a 9.8, probably 9.6. Just checked the census, there are only 141 9.8s graded out of the total of 751 graded It'll be interesting if Sony can make this movie good in two years. With the low print run and really low amount of 9.8s, the going rate of $1000 for a 9.8 might be a steal. Also with the fact a bunch of them were clipped for the coupon, there are not that many of these things out there. I even see the clipped ones going for 30-50 raw on ebay.

I bought them brand new when they were coming out in 1992 and 1993. Some were from the newstand and some from a comic book store. Interestingly enough, some of the comices I have like superman man of steel #19, the comic book store had both a newstand version and non-newstand edition. I bought one of each for some reason I can't remember. -

I think the answer to both your questions is no. I just took a look at my complete darkhawk set and none of those issues have newstand editions, only direction editions. -
Nintendo Power Magazines Collectors represent!
peakoilhater replied to whetteon's topic in Comic Magazines
Why does mine say "free sample copoy"? I know that when I started ordering Nintendo power in 1988 I started with the second issue so had to back order the first issue and that is what they sent me. Does that sound correct? Anyway, I actually have a bunch of Nintendo powers collected over 12 years or so. And yes, the bottom right corner is bent a little bit otherwise it is in pretty good shape. Does this issue have any value out of curiosity? -

Here is a picture of my darkhawk annuals. I have two copies of darkhawk annual #2. They came in bags. One I bought to read so I opened the bag and the other one was left in a bag. Are these direct or newsstand editions I bought out of curiosity. Also, I do not own a second printing of Darkhawk #5. I didn't even know it existed until this forum -

I took them on my phone and I apologize about the light reflection. When I get a chance I'll put up the rest of the collection. Happy you guys like seeing them. -

Danny Fingeroth also felt Darkhawk #1 is the first appearance. He didn't realize Marvel Age #97 existed which came out before Darkhawk #1. I guess the only thing I'm missing to complete the set is a second print of Darkhawk #5. Where would I even go about finding one? Figured it would be fun to have that one also for my set. -

I hadn't seen a copy of that issue until comic con. There are a few of them up for sale on ebay. I didn't even know that was his first appearance when I was collecting Darkhawk 25 years ago. -

Here is a Darkhawk #1 signed by Tom Defalco and Danny Fingeroth and a Marvel Age 97 signed by Danny fingeroth. They signed them last weekend at comic con in Manhattan. Ignore the prices, I got them for much less from a vendor at the show. -
I have a mint 2nd print ASM #361. Was anyone interested for the right price? Just send me a private message. You have to pick it up from me in Northern New Jersey, I won't mail it.
