  1. Doc Joe - also, you know, you CAN stay away from the thread if you want. You are not involved in the transaction. My concern is with the seller, and in the unfortunate event he flipped it for a higher price after agreeing to sell to me, the final buyer. I do thank you for your time in participating in this spirited debate, but otherwise, don't feel compelled to play devil's advocate if it is causing you stress.
  2. Doc Joe - " this may break the code of the ocean but this deal is nothing to do with any of us except those involved." Yep. I'm involved. I'm, crying foul. You have a different opinion, thanks for sharing, but apples and oranges with your analogy. The concern here is what is the status of the book? Does he have it in his hands? Perhaps he can provide a photo in front of a website from today to show current ownership.
  3. Lucid - There are many fundamental issues that have gone unaddressed. He's introduced several red herrings to the matter. The litany of questions he has evaded certainly calls all of his motives into question. I'd love to be incorrect, and the book to arrive, but my goodness he is digging in deep with a wildly unpopular position.
  4. To be clear, I DID pay the $15 in shipping, even though he stated he would cover the shipping. Also, I think pretty clearly I've shown this isn't about the money to me. It was never an issue in the transaction, it never came up until one his posts yesterday. There was zero debate, the price was asked, I agreed. He confirmed acceptance, he provided his address via PM as further confirmation of the deal. I sent a check.
  5. Sha - as always, your wisdom, patience, and kindness make this a better place.
  6. I've talked with Gabriel and Mr illmannered certainly is a good guy in my book. No one thinks otherwise.
  7. There were multiple PMs exchanged confirmed the sale, before he started deleting them all. He never mentioned a problem with covering the shopping as he offered to do so. I paid it anyway. There was no prompt retraction, nothing stated from him until just now!
  8. Jimbo_707 - "For the record, I would never cash someone's check and not ship a book." Good to know you do have SOME ethical boundaries. "Also, if ghosting means abandining the boards, I obviously haven't ghosted." No, I was saying you refuse all PMs and that means you ghosted. I see you still do not allow PMs. How does anyone who is not hiding act like that? "I also haven't sold the book." By any ethical, decent, civil, and legal code of conduct, you have. Now you may not deliver the book, but I don't think there is a single person here who does not think a transaction has occurred whereby you sold me the book. Did you get a better offer after the sale and that is what made you feel like it was worth more? Your actions have been super-shady and it sounds like your reason is simply what we all feared.
  9. Sha - lovely offer, and I'd be delighted to have you involved if he doesn't want Woowoo.
  10. Jimbo_707 - I did not stop payment on the check. It will not bounce, and if you are concerned about that let's find a 3rd party to hold it in escrow. Never have, but really, you think I'll bounce a check on a case THIS high profile? hahaha. If you want another party to hold it, I'll pay all shipping costs therein. Any other potential weak excuses I can preempt?
  11. Yeah I don't want to speculate on the 2nd buyer, even though I have several ideas, but I don't want to risk damaging the reputation of innocent men.
  12. Jimbo_707 (good Mr James Bowman) -Your check #17073 for $815.00 should be there shortly (see, including the shipping). Normally I would PM this info, but as you appeared to have turned that option off, I send it to you here. Deal honored in full, with shipping paid, even when you offered to cover it. Because my generosity knows no limits and I didn't want you to feel like even one penny was left on the table.
  13. You also provided your address to send the check, further confirming acceptance of the deal. Really man, I just don't get it.
  14. Jimbo_707 - weak. you then replied you WERE paying for shipping. Anyway, your check includes $15 YOU DID NOT ASK FOR. So moot point, paid for it even when you offered to provide it free of charge. William
  15. We don't know anything new really, as the seller is not replying to, or even taking, PMs, he's ghosted the entire board.
  16. Oh and before Andy pops up to give me a hard time for NOT saying it - I'll take it
  17. Flex - Greed party! Let's blow it all on strippers and coke! WOoot! I'm on the next flight... oh hang on, I see what you did there...
  18. Furthermore, someone privately accused me of being greedy and just wanted a book for cheap. Not sure it was "cheap" but this is not about the money. To that end, Flex please find the $300 donation I offered if I get the book, but sent now. Consider that a donation from all the fine boardies who I am lucky to call friends and thrilled to do business with.
  19. Doc Joe - Thanks for your opinion and weighing in on the matter. No doubt, he really honked me off and my PM to him could be seen as aggressive. First thing in the AM after a long night, etc, but I do not believe any aspect of my conduct is unbecoming and hence why I posted EXACTLY what I sent him publicly. I stand by my reputation. This is about being an ethical seller and doing the right thing. Yep, we've all had bad transactions. Every-so-often you have to stand up for what is right, or the cycle continues. My apologies for the amount of time this is wasting for everyone. Trust me, I have zero fiscal upside in investing this much effort into a sale we can pretty safely say I am not going to get. I have made loads of friends here and it is a safe space. So I want to defend that.
  20. Woowoo - thanks man, hearing from boardie royalty as yourself means a lot. Cheers.
  21. The original poster deleted the opening of the thread, as he has deleted his PMs to me.
  22. Just remembering how bad I felt, it was a BIG number you passed on. But so lovely a book, yay!
  23. Brock - sorry you feel that way, and if you do not wish to sell to me in the future, that is your right. No sweat. I am actually trying to cover my butt, go figure!
